Photo Bald Eagle on Bronte

Post image

I’ve noticed this bald eagle hanging out on Bronte (between Main and Steeles) these days. Must be a lot of critters coming out of hibernation and the wood lot west of the Mill Pond must be some hot spot. Just wanted to share among any other bird enthusiasts out here 🤩

I’m a wildlife photographer and I am wondering exactly where you saw it in that area and for how long you have been seeing it? I really want to get some shots of it.

I've seen this along the Bronte a few times in the last 2 weeks, just around the Bronte Pioneer Cemetery.

My son and I love watching birds. You may be able to catch this, a heron and some awesome vultures in the Area 8 Conservation Area too. You may have to book a guided tour to get there, unless they've opened it fully to the public now. They're rehabilitating a lot of local species there, and is an absolute gem for anyone who loves wildlife (birds, critters and insects).

Good luck! Hope you catch some awesome pictures... would love to see them if you do.

Another great spot for turkey vultures with them coming back for the year is along Commercial St. across the street from Brian Best Park. Looking at the creek between the pedestrian bridge and the houses just up the road is a big dead tree that I have seen a dozen turkey vultures perched in at the same time in previous years.

That whole area is so full of turkey vultures, I always wonder why... I have some running jokes with my son who's in MD, lol. The woodlot behind the MD, and that dead tree seem to be the magnets there

I saw this bird, assuming the same one, over Mill Pond area today around 1pm.

Also saw a bald eagle near Timberlea/ 16 Mile Creek area about a week ago.

Looks like the old P.L. Robertson building, google says 97 Bronte St N. Its the building next to the Pioneer Cemetary and the drainage pond with a path around it.

There’s a thread on here from a while back about a bald eagle nest being on Britannia somewhere

There was nesting deck built on top of a pole where it nested, on Britannia between Tremaine and BSL. But once the trees were removed for widening of both Tremaine and Britannia, the eagle left and never returned. I haven't seen it for last couple of years now, so was very happy to notice one on Bronte area. Not sure if it's the same one, they do live 20-30 years so could possibly be returning...

pretty cool! not sure if it's the same one, but i see one flying over Highway 25 near the golf course whenever i'm heading south to the Bronte Go station. if you look up the oakville sub, there's also a post of it hanging out on the big tree along Highway 25 near the hospital.

Weird. I've lived in Milton my entire life and I've never seen a bald eagle here.
