Death of the Small Coppers
I have never understood why Det. Poulsen seems to get annoyed/upset when Sarah Barnaby walks up and introduces herself while she’s talking to John and Winters. Any insights??

One of my favorites. “It were written weren’t it? The Midsomer Chronicles… It were the beast!”
And then Jones, turning down the good looking museum lady O.o
and that scene towards the end with Jimmy “ looking as shifty as ever” 😆
Had to correct some spelling

You can purchase the first three 'Chief Inspector Barnaby' mysteries by Caroline Graham for $2.99. They are 1) The Killing at Badger's Drift, 2) Death of a Hollow Man, and 3) Death in Disguise. If anyone is interested in reading the books, this is your chance.

Edited to add: I'm pretty sure this is a temporary sale but I don't know how long it will last.

Is it just me or did Cully not really have any chemistry with Nico, Simon or any of the other potential candidates?
I don’t blame the actors themselves, as perhaps they were directed in a way to not overshadow the main plot.
Thoughts?

I’m often wonder what happens to some of these characters after the episode is over. We don’t usually hear much, if anything, about characters after the crime is solved.
I guess in death of a stranger, Kate gets a rude awakening bc she won’t inheriting even though her husband died, because he wasn’t the legitimate heir. I didn’t like her at all, she was a huge jerk, using her baby as a shield and a bargaining tool and all, but I feel sorry for the baby.
And in beyond the grave, why does Charles seem so certain he won’t be in legal hot water after he was initially caught? It would certainly be a crime in the USA to drug your sister in law. Maybe it’s not a crime in England? Sure, he does get punished bc Barbary proves he murdered the old guy, but every time I rewatch that episode I wonder about that.
My life is so boring that I wonder about stuff like that, lol.

There isn't news that Neil and/or Nick are leaving, so I expect them to stay on for season 27 at the end of 2027 also.
That will mean that Neill had 13 seasons as the lead character, and Nick 9 seasons as the DS.
That's a lot. Tom had the "pilot" episode and the first 13 seasons until he left.
It would be cool, if they revitalize the show after that. We need a big change because the show became something else around seasons 17 and 18. It's fun to watch while you're iron your clothes, but that's it.
I hope an old DS or Sgt. comes back to pick up the mantle as the new lead for the show, like a Ben Jones or even Troy... if not someone completely new and not a Barnaby. And a female DS/sgt. would also be interesting for once.
Or do you think the show should end with Neill?

I've just started watching this programme - I've only seen the first two.
I love the settings and the assortments of characters. But I can't get over Barnaby's ill-mannered attitude towards Troy. He's unnecessarily rude and sarcastic to a colleague he's working with, of lower rank. Troy doesn't deserve this! What's going on here?

this is my most hated episode so far and I’m sad because it’s Cully’s wedding so I thought it’d be great. But the Fitzroy family are all bullies - Beth the bride who seems so sweet on her wedding day is such a shrewd wee madam. And while I didn’t feel too bad for Marina, I do think the second and third victims didn’t deserve to die. I felt especially bad for Robin because in the flashback even as a baby nobody wanted him, and it wasn’t his fault that he was born out of wedlock. and then hes murdered basically because of how he was born. It’s also wildly ironic that Fitzroy was the last name all of Henry VIII’s bastards got, so that entire high and mighty family likely descended from not so holy origins in the first place. this particular plot just felt like it had a lot of sadness without the comedic relief other episodes carry. The only silver lining was Jones’ little storyline. Looking forward to everyone’s thoughts on this one.

Ive watched this episode many times. The part I dont understand is Eddie Darwin terrorized the sisters.
Why was he allowed to boss them around and take there money?
Why couldn't they throw him out?
Is there anyone who can enlighten me?
The other episode I dont understand is The House in the Woods.
Charlie the evil brother wants the house sold as soon as possible.
When the youg couple look at the house to possibly buy it, he strangles them!
Isn't that defeating the purpose?

I just rewatched this and remembered a question I had from the first time around. I may have missed something obvious both times, but who tampered with the brakes towards the end of the episode?

Midsomer Murders is such a quintessentially British show and wonderfully cosy Whodunnit series. It’s also a staple of UK crime drama and has acted as a launchpad for a fair few famous faces:
Orlando Bloom
Henry Cavill
Jessica Hynes
Emily Mortimer
Which ones have I missed?

We all know John Barnaby is not his real name, nor is he Tom’s cousin; if he was, Tom would have recognized him and said something when he appeared as the horny gardener. But we also know he’s a good cop. After seeing him appear in A Touch of Frost, Nothing To Hide as DC Costello, I’ve figured it out.
DC Costello, or “John” was demoted for punching a fellow officer, so we know he has a temper. My theory is he did something bad that causes him to go undercover or witness protection so he becomes a gardener. Then he returns to the force but this time he has to go under the pretext of being Tom’s cousin. I’m not sure why. Maybe this is how he’s able to get promoted despite his previous mishaps. Maybe he was a gardener, then became a cop then joined the witness protection as DCI John Barnaby.
What do you think? Obviously it’s something more than “it’s the same actor”. Is he undercover trying to find out if Joyce is a serial killer? Is he investigating the police force of Midsomer?

Hey, bit of a random one, I'm a big murder mystery fan and also a new developer. I built this "who done it?" game called Case101 and put it live today. Its a work in progress but I was hoping that I could find some people who like solving mysteries to test it out and give me some feedback. This is that game, if you have time to give it a try. its free and there is no registration or any of that stuff. https://case101whodidit.com/
