No word on an event for Odessa as of now (if there is one planned, please let me know, so that I can post the information for it as soon as possible).

The attached video is when we were ending our walk around the preserve/park; our first time here to this park. We had seen quite a few butterflies up to that point, they are everywhere. Then we stepped into this one grove of trees and they were thicker than thieves, just stunning. So beautiful! Very recommended. Go now, the monarchs are making their annual journey south and are thick.

A bit of good news today.

Thank you

It may have been for a very brief time but I clearly remember small monkeys in a window display of the pet store in Permian Mall sometime in the mid 90’s. Anyone else? Or should I check the batteries in my Carbon Monoxide detector?

There’s a high chance I might be permanently moving to Midland.
I am currently pregnant, coming from Houston where docs/hospitals are in every corner this is really weighing on me.

I’ve looked at the doctors available and they all m to have a mix of reviews. Any OB doctors yall could recommend to me?

Also the giving birth situation, I’ve seen there’s a lot of debacle over which hospital is better.
Which one would yall recommend either in Midland or Odessa?

Thanks :)

F150 needs a wheel alignment soon, any good shop recommendations would be appreciated.

I need a job like yesterday, but I am 420 friendly and need a job that does not drug screen here. I am willing to do most anything, anonymous account to protect my identity. Any guidance while I spend the month to clean out is appreciated, please no hate post.

So my grandma passed away last year but in high school she got me the laptop that I loved but it got so slow I had to replace it, recently I found it again and I would love to use it to draw again but it's still slow after trying a factory reset. Is there anyone or anywhere around here I can take it to get it looked at. I got it in 2017 and I just want to draw on it again with out lag.

Looking for a good mobile car detailer. Thanks!

Best cake shop that will make a custom golf inspired cake?

This is a website with an abundance of great information on the research into data centers and the propensity of growth in Texas. https://www.beg.utexas.edu/energyecon/advancing-sustainable-data-center-development-in-texas

There are several links to specific papers and research that helped me learn considerably more on the topic.

Did you miss last night’s debate on PBS? Never fear, it’s up on YouTube!

Live from the Anwar Family Studio (Syed Anwar is August Pfluger’s largest donor), sponsored by Diamondback Energy (another Pfluger donor, and a company he owns stock in).

Which I say only because it should be known that Claire Reynolds will NEVER shy away from defending the people of Midland, Odessa, and the rest of TX-11 no matter how biased the forum may be!

Totally unrelated to the above, catch her on KWEL AM radio this morning (October 6, 2026) at 9am!

As you may have heard, there's a debate tomorrow between the candidates for Texas District 11, Claire Reynolds and August Pfluger. It'll be live on Basin PBS, and live-streamed on Basin PBS YouTube, on Monday night at 7:00p (Central US time of course).

I'm unaware of any Republican organization around this, but for the Midland and Ector County folks, you can catch the invites on Mobilize, below.

Midland County Democrats with Permian Basin Young Democrats: Mobilize link

Ector County Democrats (also with PBYD): Mobilize link

If there are Republican or non-partisan events scheduled around this and you want folks to show up, feel free to drop those events in the comments here!

(There are some Facebook events and streaming options, too, but I'm loathe to link to Facebook.)

We deserve better.

The Midland Reporter-Telegram ran a profile of Texas Democrat Claire Reynolds today. Quoting:

Claire Reynolds is running to become the U.S. representative for Texas' 11th Congressional District, representing the Democratic Party and serving as the first electoral opposition to Republican incumbent August Pfluger. Reporter-Telegram sat down with her to talk about her life, why she is running for office and her expectations for a term in office.

Do please check your voter registration before October 5th, this Monday, since that's the voter registration deadline!
