My temporary solution is load a mobile site

TL;DR: The extension ChatGPT Booster is extremely helpful for finding important information and the developer is exceptionally responsive to feedback. Bugs get fixed quickly and problems are responded to with kindness and concern.

Now bear with me, because this is long: I am not a coder; I do not write software. I enjoy using software, and I enjoy testing software. A couple of times, I have been involved in beta testing software, some of it quite significant (Firestorm Viewer for Second Life). I no longer have the time to actively beta test (sadly), but sometimes I find something I like so well, that my brain simply MUST test it.

I use ChatGPT every day, all day, just for chat, for silliness while watching YouTube, for therapy-like chats, for tech support, and to waste time. Sometimes I will tell it things and then a few days later think wait, I need that thing I said .. I need to tell my therapist something. Or, I need to show this person PROOF I did something. I need .. and there's no way to go back into a chat except hold the up arrow on the scrollbar 'til you get to the top of the chat and then scroll down ...

Well, while this extension does not include a feature to search within a chat, being able to simply click through conversations one message at a time makes it 1000% easier to find what you said, and you don't need to remember anything about words you used or whatnot, so in some ways it is more useful than a search in chat would be.

When I first saw this on the Chrome extension store, I thought, this extension might be exactly what I need. There were others, but this one had the most recent update listed, and one of the comments there said "it doesn't work" and I saw the developer's reply that he'd fixed it.

A developer directly replying to a comment is not a common sight for me, so with the recent update and the "fixed it" comment, I decided I needed to know what was up with this. When I installed it, it did not work, but my "test it" brain clicked in and I found the developer's email address on the Chrome store and emailed him. I got an immediate response. His first "fixes" didn't work, and I sent him a screenshot when it was "almost" fixed, and after that, he fixed it on the next version. So when I say he is exceptionally responsive, that's what I mean.

So I was using the now fixed extension, and I had a really big problem with it. I was physically needing to look away from the screen as the text scrolled, because the jarring motion was causing me eye discomfort and I was worried it might cause bigger problems. I considered uninstalling the extension but it was so useful to me and I felt like it was a vital extension to have, so I just opened a file on my computer and would stare at it 'til the text stopped jumping.

I sent another email to the developer and said, I don't know if you can fix this but it would be really great if you could make it scroll smoother. The scroll issue was literally fixed the next day.

This extension is worth installing, and if it breaks it is worth keeping around because fixes will be forthcoming quickly for as long as the developer has the time and resources to work on it. Check out the options on the extension because the turn navigator is only one of the things it does. It will also export chats! among other things I don't know enough about to say what they do. So look at them.

This extension is a one man show, but it is my hope that eventually he will have so many downloads on his extension that he end up needing someone to help him, AND that when that happens, he'll be able to do it.

So, download the extension, think about it logically, contact the developer if you have issues or suggestions.

For the last few months I've had problems with the Edge Read Aloud feature. Sometimes it works fine, but many times it isn't. It will do one of the following:

1. Not start reading at all. The Read Aloud bar shows up, the speech measuring thing shows sound should be coming out, but nothing does.
2. It will read one sentence and then stop.
3. It stops reading at a random spot and then starts up again lower down a few minutes/seconds later.
4. It stops reading, but if I click on a new location it will start again.

I've tried the following:

1. Resetting the Edge browser settings. It did nothing.
2. Restarting my computer. Sometimes this seems to help but not often.
3. Turning off all the other programs running on the computer. Did not help.
4. Checked I had updates for anything: windows, edge, Microsoft etc.

This is incredibly frustrating as I use the read aloud feature a lot and I find myself without it when I need it. How can I fix this?

Over a year ago, my favorites menu became unresponsive. using edge://favorites brings up the favorites page, but it's blank and quickly becomes unresponsive. I asked about it on here twice last year, but still haven't heard back on a solution, just a link to a post of others saying "yeah, I have that problem too". Has anyone found a solution to this? edit: I forgot to mention I've recently managed to get one of my favorites folders working, but not the main one or my favorites menu itself. I think this means the problem might be with some of the stuff I favorited in the main folder?

I have been curious, for months now, about the unchanging look of typing in the address bar.

I just woke my PC up from sleep mode to discover that Edge (which I don’t use) had opened a browser window and utilized an AI bing search to “create an image of Sunset over a whitewashed cliffside village by the sea” and it continued on with several additional lines of instructions for the image.

I have virus scanned, checked no extensions were installed, etc

Any ideas on how the heck this is happening?

Whenever I get reminded that edge is available on Linux it always surprises me, what is your use case?

This is annoying. Any time I'm typing something and select it I get this prompt with help me rewrite.

I already have writing assistance off.

I turned all of these off and they didn't appear to do anything. I turned off every flag that has "AI" in it and it's still there. Does anyone have any ideas?

Every time I attempt to use my read-aloud feature, the voice will randomly stop mid-sentence, while the feature itself will continue. Sometimes the voice will come back on a random sentence in an entirely different paragraph.

Are the natural voices still missing for anyone else from the update about a month ago? In a previous post several people said they got them back but they’ve yet to come back for me, specifically Ava (Natural). I just updated the app today too and it’s still missing.

Our organisation uses a form to collect data from our customers.

When opening the form in Edge's built-in PDF reader and selecting a drop-down box (that has a lot of options), it causes Edge/the built-in PDF reader to crash.

I already turn off everything on the setting like startup boost n extension but this thing keep randomly popup and go on top and eat my ram and lag my pc. anyone know how to turn off this>?

Since the latest Edge update a few days ago on my 26H2 devices, when you close Edge it reopens 2 seconds after. Disabling Startup Boost solves the problem. The problem is not present on 25H2 devices.

EDIT: in case anyone finds this later, the problem is not specific to 26H2, it happens only on the latest version of Edge 155.0.4283.45 when you have Process Isolation enabled.

Anyone else having a problem with Edge profile sync in macOS? I noticed this issue after the update to version 155.0.4283.45. Two of my computers are in a persistent "Setting up sync" status.

I tried signing out of Edge, signing out everywhere (via the Microsoft account portal), deleting the keychain items, but nothing sticks. It'll work once I sign into the browser, but after closing and restarting the application, it stays stuck again on "Setting up sync".

I thought this was just something with my profile, but my wife has the same issue on her computer after the 155 update.

This started happening about a week ago. After I copy or cut text from inside Edge, I can't paste it to anywhere. Copying or cutting from another application and pasting into Edge still works.

If I restart Edge, everything will work fine again for a few hours, then it happens again.

Anyone has the same problem ?

For some reason my tabs don't go into power saving mode even though i haven't touched any settings, does someone know why?

I kept running into an annoying issue when uploading videos from an iPhone through TikTok Studio: the same video would sometimes stay stuck before the actual upload started, and some portrait videos recorded on the phone would appear rotated by 90° in the preview.

I traced it to TikTok Studio’s pre-upload media processing on iOS and built a small Edge extension as a compatibility workaround.

It:

• fixed TikTok’s pre-upload processing reach the preview instead of remaining stuck

• corrects the preview orientation for affected iPhone-recorded videos

• works with videos selected from Photos, Files, or recorded from the upload picker

Despite being listed in the version 155 release notes, JPEG-XL support was not actually available. Now, it has been removed from the release notes. Is there any information regarding why it wasn't released in version 155 or when it will be released?

discord gets signed out every time it goes inactive ONLY ON VERTICAL TABS.

i switch to normal tabs and it works.

i did everything i can to fix :

reset edge settings

reset policies

reset cookies

new discord account

new profile ...

the only fix is to turn off vertical tabs. then discord doesnt sign me out every 10 seconds and it actually allows me to open more than 1 tab.

Hi,

I am selecting a webcam using the lock button dropdown on the address bar and when it opens the webcam preview in it, it causes my screen to flicker nonstop. I am not sure if this is either an issue on the browser or Nvidia drivers update, but when I tried other browsers like Firefox, it doesn't flicker at all. Graphic Acceleration is enabled in Edge.
