Hi everyone! My dad listened to a lot of metal when I was younger. He isn’t in my life now, and I didn’t listen to much metal during my teenage years. As an adult, I’ve gotten back into it, and hearing certain songs feels nostalgic.

Sometimes a friend plays a song or Spotify puts one on shuffle, and I immediately recognize it as something my dad used to play. I often can’t remember the name or lyrics until I actually hear it, though, so I’m hoping to slowly rediscover more of those songs, especially from the 2000s.

Here are some I rediscovered:
-Ascendancy by Trivium
-"Neo Seoul” by After the Burial
-"Linkin Park songs
-"The End of Heartache” and “The Arms of Sorrow” by Killswitch Engage
-"The Guillotine” by Escape the Fate
-"This Calling” by All That Remains

I’d love recommendations for songs similar to these, and also songs that were popular in the 2000s metal scene. If you grew up listening to metal around then, what songs or bands do you think I should check out? I might recognize some as soon as I hear them. Thanks!
