And the White Sox survived longer than all of them

Yankees baddies having a rough go at it

They would prefer having dodger level success

Offseason predictions, Randy goes to the Yankees, we publicly try and fail to sign Seiya, and end up with Randall Grichuk as our Lefty Masher™ who is dfa'd by August, and only "major" signing.

Mike Trout hits great at T-Mobile, and Grichuk was drafted higher than Trout, therefore Grichuk>Trout right?

2

u/SexiestPanda 6d ago

Has Jerry tried to get grichuk in the past? That’s usually a qualification…

He traded Grichuk from Anaheim to St. Louis in 2013, so we're golden lol

is there anywhere to see individual leaderboards by ballpark? with all the talk about it being hard to hit at t-mobile, i would love to see who hits well there over the last several seasons. anyone know if this is tracked anywhere?

https://www.fangraphs.com/leaders/splits-leaderboards?position=B&splitArr=1000680&splitArr=142&splitArr=8&statgroup=2&startDate=2023-03-01&endDate=2026-11-30&groupBy=career

I sorted by non-Mariners as I think you'd be more interested in that, range 2023-2026 regular season only.

If you want to change the range, click the date range button and then update, but note there is another red update button you will need to press (which for some reason the text was hidden behind another button in my browser lol, but it's a big red one)

I didn't add the min PAs myself, seems to have done that automatically with the Auto PT button. I also know adding "opponent vs SEA" as well as an "AWAY" filter was redundant but w/e. I changed it from season to career (which shouldn't take the ENTIRE career, just the date range specified) so that it shows someone's total across multiple seasons, not "2024 Michael Busch"

Shocker that Kerry Carpenter and Yordan are high on the list.

If you want to see Mariners included, remove the away filter as well as the opponent SEA filter and make sure with any change you make to hit that red update button.

haha, nothing about Kerry Carpenter stats without a PA limit should surprise anyone. Dude is the ultimate platoon bat, almost Barry Bonds against righties and essentially Patrick Bailey anytime he has to face a lefty.

2

u/The_Cryogenetic DTF (DOWN TO FISH) 6d ago

My friend the Tigers fan does call him Kerry Bonds, quite appropriate lol.

You know I been thinking about this comment a lot the past few days, and while I initially fully agreed with you I think I might need to put some more respect on Patrick Bailey's name rn

amazing, thank you for the help with this!

Fangraphs' splits tool might be able to do it. https://www.fangraphs.com/leaders/splits-leaderboards

If not, I think you'll need a Fangraphs or stathead subscription to use that level of splits-sorting. You can try asking in /r/baseball's daily Around The Horn thread if anyone can do that for you.

I know this has been a meme conversation in the past... but is it time to discuss Ronald Acuna Jr... again?

He has 2 more years of club control on his deal, both being $17mil club options. Would be the perfect time to capitalize on him to help strengthen the Braves' core.

Would cost a decent amount but you'd have to assume that the health concerns lower that price tag a bit. Would inject more athleticism and you'd get an actually good defender in RF everyday. Could be a fun conversation.

I don't wanna root for any Kalshi sponsored athletes unfortunately

With how cheap that is (to the team) he would be tremendously expensive. You’re talking about a package that probably starts with Laz and one of our starters, plus more

1

u/xMrLink ‏‏‎ ‎My Depression Goes as the M's Don't 6d ago

I'd do that

1

u/SexiestPanda 6d ago

Jerry never would

1

u/xMrLink ‏‏‎ ‎My Depression Goes as the M's Don't 6d ago

fine twist my arm, I will take over as President of Baseball Operations

1

u/azularena 6d ago

I would too, problem is Acuna is going to cost more than just those two pieces

1

u/shrederick hot dogs from hell 6d ago

I would love Acuña on the M's, but I'm not sure I can do anymore hustle/care/want to be here discourse now that Randy's presumably gone. Great player when healthy, but the people who care about running 110% on every play will hate him in less than a week of games.

Something I’ve always been curious about. In the ‘95 ALDS, the last three games were played in Seattle. Was that how seeding worked or was it a special circumstance or?

4

u/PriorWrongdoer3077 6d ago

Playoff format's changed a lot over the years, back then it was 2 @ lower seed's stadium then 3 @ higher seed's.

1

u/azularena 6d ago

Why don’t we just trade for Yamamoto? I think Criswell, Bryce, and Rivas would do it. Dodgers might have to throw in a prospect or two to make it even though.

One day closer to the lockout, and a salary cap for the players.
