Yeah, that is what is so frustrating to me about our ownership. The club gets great fan support when they are competitive. If they just invested a bit more money into the roster they could be a perennial contender and bring in a lot more revenue every year with ticket sales and playoff revenue.
They are just so risk adverse though. Scared to spend too much, and God forbid, face the possibility of not turning a profit for once.

What’s the point of preaching needing new voices in the clubhouse when you’re going to keep pretty much the entire pitching side of the staff? Should have gotten rid of everyone. This front office has no clue.

The pitching side has a long history of success to only 1/2 a year of wtf-just-happened.
The hitting side has consistently failed for over a decade with only a few individual players having outlier successes.
I'm fine with the pitching side getting a second chance. The hitting side does not deserve a tenth chance.

Unless I hear otherwise, I’m going to assume Dan took over the pitching decisions. It’s the easiest explanation and I would absolutely believe that a former catcher who had already been promoted into a position he didn’t work for assumed he knew more than a guy who barely played.

The team had the worst defense in the league and one of the worst defensive seasons in ages. Give the staff competent defenders and they will look very strong again.

My biggest concern is the bullpen arm development which just hasn't been the same in a long time. If this FO is going to continue to commit to not spending resources on the bullpen, then something needs to change on how they are looking at bullpen talent. We need to stop bailing on arms just to see them blossom elsewhere.

I still cannot fucking believe they didn't offer Teoscar the QO, there was zero chance he'd accept so they basically just declined a free draft pick. Hope they don't make the same mistake again.

They didn't offer because there was a chance he took it. Just because he ended up going to the Dodgers doesn't mean we need to be revisionists about it

Brother his agent was literally tweeting about how much better his hitting numbers were outside of TMo park, there was no chance he stayed and nuked his future earnings because of the Mariner effect

Agents can tweet whatever they want, and they do tweet a lot of nonsense.
There was a very real chance no one else would give him a multiyear deal over $20m AAV. The list of potential suitors was pretty small, and 1.9 WAR following years of 3 and 4 WAR means he might have taken a 1-year bet on himself to bounce back and get a bigger/longer deal the following year.

Where are my Padres supporters?
I don’t see many people rooting for them on this sub. I mean, hey, they’re our bros pretty much our NL counterpart.
We’ve never had any beef with them or anything. We’ve been playing each other long before the new interleague format, we share the same Spring Training complex, and there’s always been a bit of a connection between the two fanbases.
