We get recurring posts from parents asking about schools and academics. Today, CA released their 2025-2026 assessment data for public schools. Here’s the link to their database:
https://caaspp-elpac.ets.org/caaspp/
It allows you to compare up to three schools at a time, search for data by grade, student group, etc. It is far more robust than web scrapers like greatschools.org that only show a snapshot in time of academic data. As of 10/15/26, GreatSchools shows data for 2024-2025.
I implore you to look at more than one year’s worth of recent data to get a semblance of how consistent your school of choice is
Attached for fun is some local high school rivalries

I appreciated the recent post about music venues in Marin. I would like a buddy to go to some of these venues and also shows in San Francisco and the greater Bay/Norcal area. I go to a lot of shows alone, but sometimes it's hard to motivate to go by yourself and especially if there are bridge tolls and parking involved (I'm also looking to carpool). My interests are hard rock, heavy metal, blues, bluegrass, and even classical. I'm a middle aged female. Probably not looking to hang out with a much younger guy but a woman of any age, a couple, or a man my age as long as he doesn't hit on me, would be fine.

I know this is a narrow question but not easily answered via search engine. No dice with Transbay or Econolock. Not all Autel fobs can be reprogrammed but mine can. Figured somebody might have had to do similar.
Separately I need to find a good place to get an emergency car lock key duplicated ($50 quote so far, I may need to go the online route, submitting a detail pic of the key).

Hello,
My partner and I are getting eloped in a few weeks, and spending the weekend in Sausalito (we live in Berkeley, so just want a relaxing weekend away).
For our wedding night, we’re planning to have dinner in Sausalito after the ceremony in the city.
Let me know if you have any recommendations for a romantic dinner spot. Ideally somewhere that has Steak and seafood :)
Thank you!!!

Didn't' they know they needed to do something about the horny jerks that worked there?
Marin-based chain to pay $3M to end harassment suit:
According to the EEOC statement, supervisors and employees across Il Fornaio locations repeatedly subjected female employees, many of whom were teenagers, to sexual harassment. The harassment included “forceful groping” in restaurant bathrooms, multiple instances of “grabbing female employees’ private parts,” requests for sexual favors and explicit references to sexual activities, the EEOC stated.
When the employees complained, Il Fornaio supervisors allegedly retaliated, reducing the number of shifts or hours the women worked, by making employees do more burdensome work, or by refusing requests for time off and issuing threats, the EEOC said.

Curious if anyone has intel on what’s gonna happen with TK in the Miller Creek school district. Such conflicting information and seems like it’s now going from three schools to one location and no aftercare. It’s like they couldn’t care less about working parents. I hear every year they threaten to eliminate aftercare so I hope they figure it out but it seems pointless to do TK for three hours and then no aftercare and pay for a nanny. Would love to avoid another year of expensive preschool.
Anyone know if that is true?

Coming back for the holidays, and unfortunately missing Biketoberfest in Fairfax this year. Wondering if there are any trail races (for fun, very much not professional) during that time.
Or if anyone has websites to point me towards that would be helpful too. TIA 🤌🏼

From the articles I've read, it seems like the Board of Supervisors is going to announce an anti-ICE resolution at their meeting on the 20th. However, the Marin DSA is mad because it's a resolution and not an ordinance, even though it seems like it does the things they want it to do.
Can someone explain the difference between a resolution and an ordinance in terms of the actual impact it will have on protecting immigrants in Marin from ICE?

Anyone seen the Mexican food pop-up stand that used to set up in front of the San Rafael Post Office on Bellam street after dark? I’m craving Tortas and Papas.

SAN RAFAEL, CA — A 20-year-old Richmond man was arrested on suspicion of murder Monday after police said a dispute between coworkers escalated into a fatal stabbing at a business in San Rafael’s Northgate One Shopping Center.
Justin Amilcar Gutierrez-Navarette was arrested Monday following an investigation into the killing, according to the San Rafael Police Department.
Shortly after 1 p.m. Monday, police and firefighters responded to the 700 block of Las Gallinas Avenue after receiving a report of an unconscious man who appeared to have fallen. First responders found the victim with an apparent stab wound and began lifesaving measures before taking him to a hospital, where he died, authorities said. Investigators determined from the victim’s clothing that he worked at a business in the Northgate One Shopping Center, police said.
According to investigators, Gutierrez-Navarette and the victim were coworkers involved in an ongoing dispute. The dispute escalated into a physical confrontation Monday, during which Gutierrez-Navarette stabbed the victim, police said.
The victim then fled through the rear entrance of the business and collapsed outside on Las Gallinas Avenue, according to police.
After the investigation began, Gutierrez-Navarette contacted police and arranged to turn himself in. He cooperated with detectives and was interviewed about his involvement in the incident, police said. Detectives arrested him based on evidence gathered during the investigation. He was booked into the Marin County Jail on a murder charge, police said. The victim’s identity is being withheld pending notification of next of kin. The Marin County Coroner’s Office will release the name after the required notifications are completed.
Anyone with information about the case can contact San Rafael police at 415-485-3000 or submit a tip online at srpd.org/tips.

Hi, where can I order the best fresh spring rolls? Ideally with cooked shrimp or chicken or tofu. Somewhere with high-quality ingredients would be nice. Thank you in advance 🥰

The Marin Community Foundation has awarded a $724,500 grant to cover the delinquent rent of about 64 public housing tenants in Marin City.
The tenants live in Golden Gate Village, a complex with about 300 apartments and 700 residents. The complex, which is dilapidated from years of delayed maintenance, is undergoing a major renovation. Tenants will be moved out of their apartments in phases so the work can be completed. Under federal law, however, they must meet certain requirements to be guaranteed a right of return.
“All of our residents must be in good standing to stay in their homes,” said Tonia Lediju. “That means they must have no past due rent or be on a current signed payment plan, be up to date on annual recertification paperwork and have no lease violations.”
Lediju declined to disclose how many Golden Gate Village residents are delinquent on their rent, how much they owe or how many residents are on repayment plans.
The funding is not the foundation’s first investment in Golden Gate Village. It also has contributed $1 million to the $2 million “empowerment” fund county supervisors established to support nonprofits that serve the neighborhood.
Residents at Golden Gate Village are required to pay no more than 30% of their income on rent. If a tenant has no income, the housing is free
It's always such a sh!tshow in the parking lot with those narrow spots. I always wonder if the mall would be busier with proper double "hairpin" striped parking spots. I know I personally will avoid that place like the plague for the holidays.

Sharing images of work I’m making to celebrate and support the work of Point Blue Conservation Science, who have stewarded the Farallon Islands for almost 60 years. I’ve lived in Marin for almost a decade and only recently discovered both PBCS and the Farallones!

Hello, we are looking for any recommendations for a good engagement ring jeweler in the area.
We are looking for a classic and simple gold solitaire engagement ring that is thin and not bulky (she has very thin fingers).
Any recommendations would be welcome! Thanks so much!

A ton of paramedics, fire trucks, and police, they’ve blocked off the whole street by the elementary school. Seems like an active situation.

Hi Y'all, I'm a spicy girl and a pepper enthusiast. I have an abundance of peppers and am about to make a bunch of different things (sambal ijo, pil nam pla, some serrano hot sauce/salsa, pickled serranos and anaheims). I am not selling anything just wanting to share with my community, mainly because this will be my first time even making the first two items. Anyway, if you're interested in any or all let me know, happy to share! I will be handing some out today and tomorrow. Then making a new batch in a week!
UPDATE! I only was able to do sambal ijo and a chunky serrano chili crisp! The others will happen next week!

Hello Marin,
