Suggestions Please abolish that silly limitation "Too steep to build". This is how slopes should be handled, maybe at additional rubble stone cost.

Discussion Perks?

Does anybody miss the old style perks from the original non beta game?

In my opinion much easier to weigh the benefits of each perk per region instead of the current perk system which I find I end up not picking any in some play throughs. I’m annoyed that there is a negative attribute tied to each perk and usually keeps me from picking any as, in some cases, I’m not entirely sure how the game is going to unfold so I don’t want to hinder that regions performance. And, honestly there is nothing to boost agricultural performance at this time. Which I haven’t found a way to make a high fertility region profitable with solely crops.

I liked the idea of actually exhausting rich deposits or cutting too many trees due to no coal production.

Just my thoughts and curious to hear everybody else’s. Thanks.

First picture is how I usually set up my fields.
Second picture is after few years of field being set up.

It screws with my flax and barley supply.
Is there a way to fix this?

Question Food trouble, what can I do immediately?

Soooo I have a small major concerning food shortage in my town, currently I have quite a few families starving and several people already dead. 47 Families total, 35 Houses.

- farms are currently ready to harvest, awaiting the next season
- I have access to 1 berry field
- I got 1 big wild animal area (crown icon)
- I have one more region but it only starts off (very few people, can just about provide for itself rn)
What exactly can I do to have enough food at all times? Is it worth it to rebuild some homes to make gardens or fruit areas larger? Is import worth it?

Question Pasture entrance, any rules?

Greetings, lords and ladies

I am recently immersed in building my own pastoral empire with the new perks.
But in playing, there is something annying happens.

When you make a pasture for cow or sheeps,
how can I draw that pasture's entrance near to my side?
Is it random or any rules over there?

If you have some good experiences or ideas about making pastures right,
please share to me, would you?

Thanks,

Discussion Winter start, challenging settings .... no wild animals as a food source

Just a short(ish) example of surviving a winter start on challenging settings, without wild animals as a food source.

No voice, just natural game play. Though I did get a little anxious with Bartholmes and tried to hurry him up :)

Feedback Win my first game on a 1v2

Today, I finally won a game in Manor Lords! It was against two AIs that built their own towns.

The first city with the tier 3 church is mine. The second is the one I took from the blue AI, I reworked it to make it sustainable and generate income. The third one belonged to the yellow AI, I took it over, set the regional wealth tax to 100%, and didn't touch anything else.

I was able to control the whole map with the army shown in the screenshots, plus 3 mercenary bands per battle (so the AI couldn't hire them). The battles were really easy.

I found that the hardest mechanic in the game is food. But after reading a few guides on Reddit, I managed to keep 15+ months of food stored in my main city. It dropped when I focused on warfare and stopped supervising the town, but it was stable before that. I used 300% orchards and 200% burgage plots with an even mix of vegetables, backyard animals, and fruits except extra apple orchards for cider. After that, I set up a crop rotation across multiple ~0.5 morgen fields, and food started flooding in! In the late game, I added some cows and sheep, and it worked great. I also use the 71.4% fish reserve for ealy games it was great.

Money was pretty easy too, i just sell planks and charcoal from year 1, destroy every bandits on the map for regional wealth and later i sell the extra weapon and armor.

I didn't reach a massive city with high-tier citizens because I felt it required a bit too much micromanagement, which isn't really my thing. I just did what was needed to win, and I had a great time playing it!

Here are a few disappointments I had while discovering the game:

  • AI cities expand fast at first, but stall later on. They don't build farms, upgrade citizens, or build proper castles, just the basic manor.
  • Battles were too easy and lacked tactical depth. I just placed a wall of melee troops in front of my ranged units, and they wiped out everything because the AI simply rushes at you without any real preparation.
  • I hoped city battles would feel different, but the game just spawns an open battlefield outside town. It's a bit disappointing, it would be awesome if taking a city required destroying the manor.
  • Only 1 (or 2 in the beta) development point per region level. Adding more cards shouldn't be too complicated since town progression is already functional.

I know the game is being developed by a solo developer. I’ve followed the project for five years, and my feedback isn't meant to be harsh, just a few things I noticed and wanted to share!

Question What’s the Trick to get the town/ Burger Plots to a Small Town

I struggle to Keep Clothes and Booze to Upgrade to level 3 House. My Area only has A Fish Pond and Rock quarry.

I love this game but I think I am terrible because once I get Level 2 houses and do the first town Upgrade I get stuck.

What suggestions do you have for Markets to sell?
What Work Shops Should I prioritize?
How many Areas do you manage at once?

Question How to survive the first winter on Challenging?

As the title suggests I'm struggling and by struggling I mean my people just leave me. I'm quite experienced with the game and I can go to Large Town in year 5 on Challenging if I start in spring, but the winter start makes me really, really sad.

Suggestions Dung Management vs Pasturing on Fallowed Fields

Image from Très Riches Heures du Duc de Berry

The new manure production and fertilization mechanic in the beta is a good addition but it reminded me that oftentimes pastured animals would be left to graze on fallowed fields.

Considering the new perks / building upgrade system I would like to be able to upgrade a field to an enclosed field (for the same construction cost as a pasture). When an enclosed field is fallowed it would serve as pasture space. Animals on the fallowed field would improve its fertility but not produce dung like animals in pastures. It would reduce labor requirements and so, for balance, could provide a reduced fertility bonus compared to the dung heap.

Suggestions Visual suggestion for empty road areas

Post image
108 Upvotes

Disclaimer: Im not into modding and have no idea whats out there rn.

But:

Does anyone else feel the need to fill out empty areas between intersections with road-like texture? Example in the picture. Just makes that area feel much more lively and active.

Right now i just try to replicate that with 100 streets just stamped over each other in various directions. A field selection tool like the market square that places a road for example would be an idea. I love making my small village look nice and realistic!

Any thoughts?

Discussion What's your favorite map and region for reliable battle fields?

Post image
15 Upvotes

I'm asking from a manor building perspective. On Twin Lakes you can build in the center region, then 90% of battles will take place where I've circled it. But for the other 10% you still have to fight in a random field.

I'm wondering if anyone else has a region where the battle is always in the same place?

Question Am I doing agriculture right?

After subjecting my peasants to a diet of cabbage and small game I built many morgens of crop with alternating rotation of rye , oats and fallow (with fertilizer from the livestock) . My question is will my fields degrade or will fertilizer restore it enough. I already hit over 100% rye fertility on one so I guess it's working? Also there's no fertilizer shortage , the sheep eat good .

Question Tradepost dedicated to regional trade still need to be on kings road?

Let's say I have 2 trade posts that I want to dedicate to the trade between region A and B.

Do they still need to be on Kings Road?

Or does a setup like this still work for regional trade?

Region A Trade Post --- Road --- A & B border --- Road --- Region B Trade Post
