Discussion Telugu cinema’s respect for malayalam talent !

Post image
161 Upvotes

Telugu filmmakers give malayalam actors powerful roles and genuine recognition, rather than limiting them to supporting characters.

From casting to screen presence,

Telugu cinema embraces malayalam talent and celebrates their acting skills as an asset to the industry.

Respecting talent, celebrating cinema... ! ❤🔥

As a cinema lover, what do u feel ?

Opinion Malar Miss Got her memory back

Malar Miss in premam got her memory back. I have my proofs, At the end of the movie when she arrives at the reception, Arivu (her cousin and husband) tells her - You should have told him - and she replies that he's happy now, it means something happened, two possibilities - a divorce or that she has got her memory back. And when she returns she uses a gesture to wish George and Celine - you two are sooper -👌 like this - and she hasn't used this gesture before in the movie, and George used this to tell her she looks gorgeous and her eyes look good etc. she only remembers that gesture because her memory is back. I don't know if this is something already discussed before, I watched premam after bku and felt like premam is soo good and a classic - better than bku for me.

Opinion Rewatching Om Shanti Oshana, thoughts

I know this has been discussed enough, but when the movie came out the first time , I was giddy about watching Nivin Pauly , but now I am having few problems with the film.

I know it's just a movie , and it's one of my favourites but couldn't help but notice couple of things

  1. For Giri, Pooja was just an option

  2. Whether it's from her perspective or not , him being in love with her from the beginning creeps me out ( at the end it is implied)

  3. If she did have infatuation, which comes at that age, her crush wouldn't last that long .

  4. If her cousin would not have eloped, Giri would have still married someone else.

  5. She had to change her personality.

But there are few positives as well.

  1. Her parents being supportive is wholesome .

  2. She caring about her community and helping others is good, but she could have done it just for the sake of it , instead of doing it for him .

  3. Her best friends - have to talk about Dr. Prasad , he is supportive of her ( even if he has something to gain)

  4. She has varied interests and wish they could have explored more on this

Again, I know this is just a movie , but I couldn't stop thinking about this .

Jailer 2le malayalam kettitt sherikkum deshyam vann.

Pakuthiyolam cast malayalikal. And making them komalis. Felt like making fun of malayalam and malayalees. Avidem ividem ozhike malayali characters polum nere chovve malayalam parayunnilla. Pinne malayalathe vadhikkunna pattum (even though they 'claim' its not malayalam. Pinne beat okke kettirikkumbo adh athra karyam akkilla chelappo, like Manassilayo ). Ennalum, oru malayalam padathil engane aan nammal tamil and tamil charactersne place cheyyunne 🤌 Tamil songs in Malayalam cinema 🤌

But all these gets dissolved in the commercial aspect and the hype of the film. Thekkappetta sundariye airil kettiyavar ithonnum kanunnille entho 🫡

Ik, padam kandondirikkumbo adhoke avoid aki kandal nice aan. Ennalum, like bag annan said "athrakk deshyam vann" 😐

Opinion BKU this, BKU that. Would it stand out if it was released along Bramayugam & Manjummel Boys?

Premalu is still the best pure Rom-Com movie from Mollywood in the last decade and everyone involved deserves credit for it.

I don't think even the same team coming together again can replicate those vibes.

I'm not hating on BKU and it's still my second favourite Girish A.D. film, but ain't it a bit overhyped by Nivin & Mami fans?

Although I loved the leads as individual characters, I just felt no emotional connection to them as a couple.

Discussion Khalifa had the potential!

Post image
23 Upvotes

Khalifa could’ve been something special. I get why people say it’s a decent movie and doesn’t deserve all the hate it’s getting. Vyshak knows how to entertain, but the way the story was told just didn’t do justice to its potential.

It’s a revenge drama with a few cameos at the end, but it could’ve been 100 times better. Starting with Ettan’s backstory, giving more space to Indrans and his koottalis, and replacing the typical first-half love drama with something more realistic could’ve made a huge difference.

Even the gold smuggling angle had so much potential. They could’ve picked a few unconventional methods and explored them in detail. Add more depth to the characters, including the villains and Rajuettan himself, and this could’ve been a peak theatre experience.

This movie uses the same storytelling methods we’ve been seeing in the industry for the past 15 years. Look at Bheeshma Parvam. It’s a revenge drama too, but the way it was presented made it stand out. A differnt approach would have made this a sure shot banger!

Opinion Lucifer and Empuraan action scenes ranked

1. Jail fight : This was the only fight scene in either of these films where Stephen was genuinely scary. An experienced tactician in his mid 50s brutally beating the crap out of an entire gang, hurting them with their own weapons (and the hammer attack was the cherry on top). Not a single person was killed, and yet they probably wished they were - kinda like when Batman beats up criminals. Also, this was the only A10 fight scene in both these movies which mostly obeyed the laws of physics

2. Kadavule Pole: This is my second favorite, purely because of the theatre experience. The munda madakkal with the "vaada!", after all those political talks was just awesome. Yeah, it kinda follows a Telugu fight format, but A10 still manages to sell it with his high kicks and elbow strikes.

3. Raftaara: I don't know if its a hot take, but this whole sequence absolutely slaps. This what Stephen is meant to be. He gets his hands dirty only if its necessary - either there's no backup, or he's being directly threatened. Else, he lets his boys do the work (which apparently the fucking director himself forgot). Raftaara is an absolute banger, and the secret agent guys kicked ass as well. Vivek Oberoi and Revathy's ex also had a great 1v1. Also, the best Zayed Masood sequence.

4. Kadavule Pole 2.0: This was the better of the Empuraan fights, though the bar is literally in hell. I liked the buildup and the reveal, and the best parts of this fight is when he's just punching and cracking people's bones. But they made him superhumanly strong, and Kadavule pole 2.0 doesn't hit nearly as hard as the original song.

5. Boat fight: Short, sweet, straight to the point, and a great intro to Zayed Masood. Doesn't stand out, but gets the job done. Decent fight.

6. Church escape: Absolute meh. I felt absolutely nothing watching this. Nothing more to say.

7. Phir zindaaaaaaa: This is genuinely one of the worst action scenes in malayalam movie history. Not only does it absolutely destroy the character consistency, but the choreography itself is dog-water and the song is absolute garbage. I'm sure Prithviraj Sukumaran took a directing break and one of the Ukris snuck into set, changed the script and blackmailed him into putting this in the final film.

did anyone else feel sad after watching bku? idk if it's only me... i was sad as hell watching the heartbreak they both went through. it was like I was living in the moment and it was happening to me. it's been quite a few days and I'm still not over the movie.

those heartbreaks felt very real and the pain which Nivin had to go through, god it does something in me. after all these, i can't say it as a feel good movie for me, indeed a very comfort movie ❤️

Discussion Who is the real-life inspiration behind Harris Basheer in Khalifa?

Post image
39 Upvotes

recently watched Khalifa (2026) directed by Vysakh, and while tracking the gold-smuggling syndicate plot and the underworld dynamics, I noticed a few parallels to real-life historical crime networks.

Neil Nitin Mukesh played the primary antagonist, Harris Basheer. Does anyone know if this character or his syndicate connections are based on a real-life underworld figure or specific historical smuggling operations in Kerala/the Gulf?

Would love to hear your thoughts or any trivia on the film's real-life references!
