Discussion Regarding the lack of clarity over the ranks of the Mafia 1 characters compared to Mafia 2

In M2, everything was really neatly explained and understood regarding family positions. Derek and Luca are capos. Eddie's an underboss. Galante's a consigliere, and the bosses are the bosses. These characters mainly delegate and rarely get their hands dirty.

Joe and Vito start as associates, but are made in a cut scene and get to join their friend Henry as a soldier. Tony Balls is also an obvious soldier. These guys do the grunt work, they rob and kill.

In 1, not much about the family structure makes sense. You've obviously got Don Salieri and Frank as his consigliere. You'd assume Sam and Paulie must be capos as they have a lot of small 4-5 person meetings with him and deal with the Don directly. Yet they're usually also busting heads and being treated like soldiers. I've seen Vincenzo described in some places as a trusted associate and in others as a capo. It feels like a glorified gang rather than a mob family. We're to assume Tommy gets made but we never see it. Does being "made" even exist in the universe of Mafia 1?

Is all this intentional? Something to do with the Chicago mafia being far less structured than the families in NY? Or is it just a result of it being an older game and the devs didnt feel the need to fully flesh out the structure of the Salieri family like they later would with the Clemente, Vinci and Falcone ones.

Mafia 3 What am I supposed to do here?

I'll be honest, I'm really not paying attention to the story, but I know the districts are being taken over and I need like 20K more money but there is no way to get it? This is optional, but how do I get more money? Am I supposed to do it? It seems like all the optional missions disappeared and I only have a story mission left

This my opinion but like to not see vito and Joe I'm not saying bad characters l actually joy mafa 2 but other see new character in game also should small Easter egg about vito and Joe. The game should set in 1976 Las Vegas about where Italian American mafia start to hire young pretty criminals also anyone watch movie The Departed should take little inspiration where Italian mafa accident get fbi or police officer in mob start to infiltrate to take down or work with criminals. This my idea 'if' plans to for mafia 4

while i was looking the offers on the XBOX store, I noticed that from today until the first week of November Mafia II: Definitive Edition is on sale. The same happened at the time of the announcement of Mafia I & III, so it is likely that the version for next gen will arrive soon (I hope so)

Discussion My idea for Mafia: The Old Country 2 Spoiler

Ofc got help from chatgpt but after my idea and discussion....

1. Cesare becomes the Don

The story could begin several years after Enzo's death.

Cesare has survived, but he's haunted by what happened to his cousin Isabella and his betrayal of Enzo. He gradually rises through the criminal world, eliminates his rivals, and eventually becomes a powerful Don in Sicily.

But here's the twist: Cesare tells everyone that Enzo was a traitor who deserved to die. Privately, he knows Enzo was the one person who genuinely trusted him.

That would make Cesare an interesting villain — not just an evil gangster, but a man who spends his life burying the guilt of what he did.

2. Enzo's son grows up in America

Isabella raises Enzo's son in America, possibly in Empire Bay.

The boy grows up hearing stories about his father, but he doesn't know the complete truth. Isabella wants him to live an honest life because she knows what the Mafia took from her.

Then, as a young adult, he discovers Enzo's final letter or evidence revealing how his father actually died.

He learns that Cesare betrayed his father and became a powerful criminal in Sicily.

Now he has a choice: honour his mother's wish and stay away from the Mafia, or return to Sicily to confront the man who killed his father.

3. The son returns to Sicily

This is where I'd make the game really interesting.

Instead of immediately killing Cesare, Enzo's son enters his organization under a false identity. He earns Cesare's trust, becomes one of his most valuable men, and slowly climbs the ranks.

Imagine Cesare seeing Enzo's mannerisms in this young man without realizing who he really is.

  • Cesare teaches him how to survive in the criminal world.
  • The son discovers that Cesare isn't the only person responsible for the family's downfall.
  • He learns uncomfortable truths about his father, including the compromises Enzo made to survive.
  • Eventually, he must decide whether revenge is worth becoming the same kind of man he hates.

That would be a proper Mafia story: loyalty, betrayal, family, ambition, and the cost of revenge.

4. How it could connect to the other Mafia games

1904–1907 — The Old Country

Enzo falls in love with Isabella, befriends Cesare, and dies after Cesare betrays him. Isabella escapes to America.

1920s — The hypothetical sequel

Cesare becomes a Don. Enzo's son grows up in America and eventually returns to Sicily to confront his father's killer.

1930s — Mafia: Definitive Edition

Tommy's story unfolds in Lost Heaven. The sequel could reference the growing power of American crime families without interfering with Tommy's established storyline.

1940s–1950s — Mafia II

Empire Bay becomes an even stronger connection to the earlier story. The sequel could reveal more about the Sicilian roots of the American families.

5. But I'd make one major change to your revenge idea

I wouldn't necessarily make Enzo's son kill Cesare at the end.

Imagine this ending instead:

Enzo's son finally confronts Cesare, who is now an old man. Cesare recognizes Enzo in his face and realizes who he is.

Cesare explains why he betrayed Enzo. Perhaps he was afraid, perhaps he wanted power, or perhaps he convinced himself that Enzo would eventually destroy the family anyway.

The son has his gun pointed at Cesare.

Then Cesare says something like:

"Your father gave me his trust. I repaid him with a knife. Don't make the same mistake I did."

The son must choose whether to pull the trigger.

If he kills Cesare, he gets revenge but risks becoming another gangster consumed by violence. If he spares him, he breaks the cycle but must live with the fact that his father never received justice.

Either ending could work, depending on how the story develops.

My verdict (CHATGPT SAYING THIS)

Your idea has three major strengths:

  • It gives Enzo's death a continuing legacy. His story would matter beyond a single game.
  • It gives Cesare a meaningful future. Rather than disappearing after the ending, he becomes the central figure in a new generation's tragedy.
  • It bridges Sicily and America. Isabella and Enzo's son provide a natural way to connect the earliest Mafia era to the later games.

Mafia 1: Definitive Edition (2020) Got the Mafia Trilogy for hecka cheap on PSN. I have never gone through such a tribulation.

I went through The Old Country on classic without too many issues and was trying to do the same for Mafia 1. I even tried to cheese it by making a pile up after the 1st hour. That didn’t work either. I gave up on the platinum and set the difficulty to easy.

I have never been so frustrated at a game that I’ve been hella vibing with. I am not a good driver in real life, why must the familia ask so much of me? šŸ˜‚
