That and I donβt care for WindowsServer to use 5gigs of RAM cause of some fancy wallpaper

u/vintage2019 Jun 30 '26
Yeah I use solid colors too. Less distracting. I set the color to match the season (e.g. fall = orange)

doesn't it look depressing and boring??
2
u/BacteriaDish Jul 03 '26
No, because I'm not staring at my desktop wallpaper when I'm using my Mac. I'm using it.

Is that an old System 7 wallpaper?
2
u/kerbacho Jun 29 '26
Yes, but slightly modified. The original is gray. I use the gray one on another virtual desktop for color critical work. And I added a gray bar with slight transparency underneath the menubar + a shadow gradient, because I prefer the menubar less colorful and more solid. :)

It's a folder with 2 png's, the original system 7 Pattern Wallpaper and a scaled version of the original for higher resolutions (u have to set them up as a pattern) There's also an Affinity and psd project file with the menubar and gradient layers. You probably have to make your own menubar background since the scaling is different on every display. I just took a screenshot and imported it to figure out the height/width of the menubar u/fermin_romero_dt u/onedevhere

Seems that I can only attach one image. So I'll just have to tell you.
Left-most monitor is Goya's "Two Old Men Eating Soup", the middle one is his "Fight With Cudgels", and on the right in portrait mode "Saturn Devouring His Son".

the image file of the picture is 22.5 mb for some reason so reddit didn't allow me to upload it. i really like the color green but the default wallpaper just feels too lonely. grass blades one felt too 1-dimensional. this one is perfect imo because it has some yellow, different shades of green, and a little stream.

I have actually "E-corp" - blue background (mr. Robot) but without white E-logo. Got that some times ago somewhere from the internet. That is good wallpaper because upper side is black and that fade the notch (and upbar is without corners so there can see only menu items etc.).

What software do you use to see the animated wallpapers? As far as I know, there is no default way of doing this.
