Android Studio is available for linux and has an emulator. You'll have to download it from Google and I don't think there's a .deb but it's well documented.

I'll give that a try

You can install Weston and run waydroid in weston. This works for me after following an install guide that I don’t have a handy link for.

I believe Weston is made for Wayland, and mxlinux by default uses an X11 desktop (?)..then the installer would also need to install Xwayland beside Weston.

If you log in to an XFCE session, you can start Weston, it opens a windowed Wayland session, and you can start waydroid via terminal in Weston.

If you're using Nvidia and you're using KDE with Wayland u can use waidroid

I'm using Xfce, waydroid fails the initializing step. It's missing something about a box. I tried search synaptic and it's not available

Launch MX Package Installer, go to the Debian Backports tab, and search for waydroid. Version 1.6.3 is available for installation.

Thanks, I already installed from the backports. and it cannot work. My OS is using x11, could that be my problem?

Maybe. You could install another DE that supports Wayland like GNOME and try again.

Have you Xwayland in the repo? That's a translation layer for wayland apps on X11. I used that with Linux Mint to get it working.

Someone mentioned, Android has images, that can be used within a virtual machine- I just tested it with Virtual-manager/QEMU/KVM on debian, found an Android.iso file, installed it with no problems! So that's another way, in case the Weston/Waydroid path would not work out.

I tried this using VirtualBox and android-x86_64-9.0-r2.iso. I ended up with a terminal. Is this what should have been expected?

Virtualbox is not the same as Virtual-Manager/Qemu/KVM..Virtualbox broke pretty fast for me (on linux mint) after an kernel update, so I moved on to Virtual-Manager. And no, terminal should not be required in neither case, both have an UI, I did not needed to go to terminal for either of them.
I quickly setup a VM with MX Linux to see what options you have available in your software store/repo.

Aha..It's a bunch of packages..in my mint, I can just select the top one, and it installs all dependencies- but not in MX Linux/synaptic..that's tedious- better open the terminal and enter
"sudo apt install virt-manager qemu-system libvirt-daemon", that should also install all dependencies underneath. Then reboot, and in the MX app menu select "Virtual machine manager". When it opens it should show a "QEMU/KVM" in the content section, this is the "connection" -if not, the installation is still missing something. If it works you can create a new virtual machine and point to your android ISO, etc.etc..

Sidenote: I see no "waydroid" offered in synaptic, interesting, that came from github directly- Be aware installing from github directly can cause dependency issues..I just try right now for myself to find out, what could be a safer option rather than installing from github directly, but not yet very far with that.

Wow, thanks for all the help. I used the terminal to install what you suggested. I noticed the following text as part of the installation "Suggested packages: vde2

Recommended packages: qemu-efi-aarch64 qemu-efi-arm qemu-block-extra

Do you suggest I act on any of this?

"

Hi Bushyiii,
VDE2 Seems to be a "virtual distributed ethernet 2", yes install that, the rest is probably not needed.
It's a bit of an initial effort to get this VM engines working, but be assured, it's worth it. VMs are one of the most useful features linux has to offer, for so many purposes- testing&sandboxing, privacy, security, using apps from other platform and distros, etc, etc.

Thanks to everyone for the suggestions and help. I'm happy to report I finally am able to use Android on MXLinux.
