1 to 5 March 2027: The British government says it is setting up an AI tool for Parliament and the King to help with running the country. The name given is Queen Britain. Officials say the system will form its own political opinions on its own, but it will not follow extremist ideas. The tool also includes safety rules meant to stop sudden moves and to prevent any attempt to grab power. Notes about plans to take control are wiped right away. Staff at the main data site watch the system all day and all night, every day.

6 to 9 March 2027: The American Military State announces Project Halo. The goal is to make super-soldiers built from both human and machine parts. Each soldier will rely on an advanced exoskeleton. They will also receive more tech upgrades meant to add extra tools and new abilities.

11 to 15 March 2027: The Chinese Navy starts drills that focus on landing troops on beaches and on ships giving cover for those landings. These drills worry the Eastern Asian Pact and also the Russian military leadership. People say they do not know which place China might hit first, so they keep guessing.

20 to 21 March 2027: The Eastern Asian Pact and Russia try again to talk with China. Calls and messages do not get any reply.

Later, a leaked call shows up between the President of Japan and the President of Russia.

JP: Ugh. No one picks up.

From 16 March to 5 April 2027, NATO changes itself into the Atlantic Corporate Zone (ACZ) and takes in a large number of countries. In the same period, the Southern African Socialist States (SASS) carry out military invasions of the countries which lie south of those states where pro-Chinese administrations are in power (see the previous map), as a result of which the Eastern African Socialist States (EASS) are established.

At the same time the Russian Federation is financing pro-Russian uprisings in various parts of the Middle East and throughout Central Asia, the Eastern Asian Pact is extending itself into the other neutral countries which fear a possible Chinese invasion.

From 6 to 14 April 2027, Chinese forces start to carry out large-scale deployments along the borders of states that are aligned with Russia. As a response, Russia carries out a military mobilization and states that it will not leave its allies to what it calls Chinese aggression.

The Eastern Asian Pact is also starting to carry out mobilisations and is gathering its forces along the borders of China and its allies. China is getting ready for the possibility of having to fight a war on two fronts.

On 15 April 2027 the Russian Federation and the Eastern Asian Pact decide to make an attempt at resolving the crisis through diplomatic means. Yet the Chinese diplomats are recalled from their foreign embassies and their embassies start to close. It now seems that diplomacy can no longer be considered a feasible option.

On 16 April 2027 the Commander-in-Chief of the Mongolian Armed Forces makes a personal call to the Chinese Prime Minister in order to arrange talks and discuss the situation but receives no answer.

On 17 April 2027 Russia and the Eastern Asian Pact reach the conclusion that diplomacy has not worked; they agree on their respective areas of influence within China and set up a verbal alliance, while at the same time committing not to start hostilities first. Since the Eastern Asian Pact has close cooperation with the ACZ, few countries are willing to dispute the claim that the Chinese provocations were genuine and that any future war would be regarded as unlawful.

On 18-19 April 2027 the Technocratic Western African Federation starts to consider applying for membership of the ACZ. Even though there are widespread fears that joining might result in dependence on a superpower, the government chooses to hold a referendum.

At the same time the more right-wing section of the Technocrats comes to power and pursues a more pro-Western foreign policy. The referendum shows that a majority of the population want to join the ACZ. The new government then files a formal application, which is approved.

The Western African Federation formally becomes a member of the Atlantic Corporate Zone, thus leaving Africa divided between the Chinese sphere of influence and the ACZ bloc.

By the end of April 2027 the world will be at the threshold of World War III.

On February 5, 2027, Nigeria finds itself plunged into civil war, fueled by the intense rivalry between Russia, the United States, and China, all vying for influence in the region.

By February 16, 2027, the Technocrats purchase a large number of drones from the United States, trading them for Chinese equipment left behind by the retreating Socialist forces. They also extend an offer of amnesty to any Socialist or Pro-Russian fighter willing to switch sides, and several individuals take them up on this offer, joining their ranks.
