Suggestions/Feedback FINALLY MADE ONE

Post image

I'm not the typical player, I mostly farm, build, or mine. But since my defense is terrible and I have a terrible time getting levels I decided the safest (and for me the esiest) way to get levels would be to build a spider spawner XP thingie. Had to tweak the original design cause the spiders kept slipping through, but now it works and I can safely collect XP safely. And I have a fisherman villager at my base where I can trade all the string for emeralds

how did you fix the spiders slipping through, did you add a water layer or just changed the drop shaft size?

I made the water go from one end of the spawn room to the other, drop down 1 block, then funnel them into a 3 block wide opening. That opening has 3 fence gates (open) that leads to the kill spot. Water on the inside of that room pushes then to the other end where I have 3 hoppers (on bottom leading into a double chest) with 3 fences to stop the spiders. Above the fences are slabs at the top with a small opening, small enough to keep the spiders from getting out. This allows me to safely kill the spiders, the drops fall into the hoppers which go into the chest, and the XP will float by the fences. All I have to do is move from side to side to collect the XP. This is the video I followed. The only change I made was I replaced the slabs above the hoppers with fences, other than that I followed the design as he shows in his video. I do need to stand back away from the fences so the spiders won't hit me and so I don't accidentally collect any drops. Once I kill the spiders then I can quickly move from side-side-to-side along the fences to collect the XP.

oh replacing the slabs with fences over the hoppers is smart, drops still fall through and nothing climbs out. thanks for the link, might copy this for my own world

You're welcome, I couldn't figure out a way to keep them from climbing out an attacking me at first, I tried gates but they always opened everytime I swung the sword. But with the fence there's just enough room to allow you to swing without hitting the fence but keeping the spiders on the other side. And yeah, it doesn't prevent the drops from falling into the hoppers. Just follow the video (except the hopper/fence part).
