Compilation of City's chances in the 2nd half vs PSG
It's a mystery how we only score 2 goals. If we're as clinical as PSG were it's a 6-4 win. Super proud of that 2nd half display though, if we go into every game playing like that then the sky's the limit this season.

It looks like it was just one of those games

Yeah, no point in blaming a single player… I take the second half awakening as a positive since the team is more than capable

We win it if there’s a reverse fixture.
Having said that, ours is a team that is still growing. It looks very good.

I don’t think things would have ever gotten as good as that second half at the Parc des Princes.
But who knows, we may actually find out after the new year begins!

2-4 isn't bad against the 2x UCL champs, it's only October, and there are a lot more champions league games to play. Not worried

As long as we win against minnows and don't crumble against Barcelona, we'll be in the top 8

Barcelona is different beast. One moment you are 3 nil up. The next moment they are 3 goal up.

It's like Madrid to be fair. Many of us City supporters have enjoyed the joy of being up several goals against RM just to have the rug pulled.
At least it'll be entertaining...? 🤷♂️

At least we know what we can and can't do and we should learn from them. When we play Barcelona hopefully we can get something.

Down to luck tbh, the fourth goal was extremely unlucky.
However, the team showing grit and not giving up matters a looot more. Also the tactical changes? Masterclass.

Semenyo 💔

He always fails the eye test

u/lucky_minotaur 4h ago
Relax, it just wasn’t his game. He has done wonders at City

Stats and eyes always seem to differ on Semenyo
Watching him in the game is never pleasing .
It’s just that he usually pops up with a goal or an assist .
Not throwing shade on him , this is common with a lot of footballers these days

Just unlucky that's all..

They were definitely unlucky not to have scored at least a couple more, but their loss is also largely from that horrid stretch in the 1st half where they looked quite shaky for a good 15–20 minutes after they conceded that first goal. They gotta clean up their build up from out the back, and they're still very vulnerable on the counterattack (which is something that PSG is unfortunately very good at). It was a very optimistic 2nd half performance overall though. Had PSG on their heels throughout most of it.

Which is a good sign.. That means Maresca is good with tactics. I have been saying a lot, but until we reach half of the premier league match days, we are not prepared. It will take at least 18+ games overtime for our team to get habituated with each other.

Yeah it will take time and that stupidly long early season international break didn't help us at all with that either. Moves us backwards in terms of team comfort/cohesion on top of directly taking up 3 weeks worth of time.

We need to start games off better, our last three games were shaky but we survived with two wins, we more direct football and less of consistent trying to build out from the back

It's been several games now where we look better and win it in the 2nd half. We are SECOND HALF F.C.

You know, I think the football world would’ve had another meltdown if we pulled this back. I’ll take the great 2nd half performance and hope we carry that into the next game

You forgot Haaland’s practically open net miss which was the biggest chance of the entire game

u/4ssteroid 3h ago
This is not all the chances. Semenyo himself missed like 5 really good chances. A real Sterlingesque performance. His decision making and execution was the worst I've seen by anyone in a City shirt except maybe Claudio Bravo

u/jayjay-bay 4h ago
Which one was that? Was it first half perhaps? I was focusing on the 2nd half chances.

u/Positive_Register_94 4h ago
If Haalands feet were smaller, or if his legs were shorter he scores that last chance

I’m not sure which Enzo moment of frustration I enjoyed the most, pushing the ref, kicking Safonov’s water bottle, or when he was counting out his missed chances on his fingers.
But on a more serious note, I’m so happy with how we played that second half. With some luck and better finishing we could have easily had another goal or two.

Bouaddi has to start every game.
The football iq this lad has at such a young age is mind boggling.
I’d rather put cherki on the rw with enzo anderson bouaddi in the midfield

Semenyo is a good player but he can't be starting everybody game. shift Cherki out wide so Bouaddi can get more minutes
•
u/Responsible-Egg4156 3m ago
should have left cherki and moved to semenyo position , semenyo is just to slow for winger

It's the perfect game for mersca to realise that a midfield with cherki, enzo and anderson is not a midfield, the difference when bouaddi came on was night and day

u/ShadowArtie99 47m ago
better to have this type of game against PSG than some mid table team in the PL

We played so so good the second half. Even at 4-1 down the feeling in the crowd was that we can get something out of the game.
I questioned the half time subs and I was proven wrong after like 5 minutes. Maresca is managing the games so well

When hs subbed in Ndaiye and Boudie for Doku and Cherki I was legit thinking he was letting the game go but my god did we try our best
Atleast this is a good lesson for us

Khusanov was really good at CB, made aggressive runs, has improved long passes and looked assured

Maresca's tactical changes were brilliant and this is a good part of the season for a bit of a wake up call.
