Live tracking at bus stops is all part of a plan to cut services.
Think about it: in the past, people would look up the timetables and they'd know when buses were due. Since the invention of those "live tracking" screens which tell you, not when the bus is due, but how far away it is; people have stopped checking timetables and only relying on the due time on the screen.
As a result, bus operators can start removing timetables and begin quietly cutting services. We won't notice it happen until it is too late.
Evidence: I was waiting for my bus this morning, and it came 4 mins ahead of schedule (yay!)...think about the people that know the timetables and needed the extra 4 minutes to get to the bus stop: they missed it.
Operators will start doing this more often, breaking down the traditional timetable system and when we don't have one to check: BAM! Services cut, longer waits at stops, everyone is late for work. And the worst part? We won't have any recourse: only the time on the "live tracker" that the bus operator tells us.
Wake up sheeple! Defend your trusty timetable! Don't let them take away the 0733 service and replace it with the 0737!
