La Acumulativa building - Lima 19th century - 1928
The former La Acumulativa building, located on the second block of Jirón Azángaro, was designed by architect Alberto Berton in the late nineteenth century. It followed the Second Empire architectural style and was distinguished by its mansard roofs, dormer windows, and a richly decorated façade.
However, in 1928, the Gildemeister Company demolished it to construct the Gildemeister Building on the same site. Regarded as Lima's first "skyscraper," the new five-story structure featured an Art Deco design, although the term "Art Deco" itself was not coined until the 1960s.

Blanchard, Iowa - City Jail - Built 1904, Demolished around 2021
This was definitely still there in 2020, but the coverage of this tiny town is very poor. Gone by 2024 at the latest. Blanchard once had just over 500 people, now has only 29. The building to the right was the fire station, and is also gone. My photo from January 2010.
