I was just looking at dresses and realized there's probably one phrase that can sum up the Lolita vibe that I adore or gravitate towards - like the style I feel like ME in.
If I had to sum it up, it'd be:
'Late-1800's Successful Victorian Woman Going Places and Doing Things™', or alternatively: 'Fantasy Agatha Christie Character'.
I like the historical look and elements, my main design inspiration is Marie Antoinette, historic court-dresses, or Bernadette Banner-style historical costuming. Sometimes court-like, sometimes more Victorian-metropolitan.
I have a very 'if they could wear it back then, I can wear it now!' kinda outlook. Gloves, lace, waist-coats, etc. It's so refined! Bonus points when a dress has actual historical inspiration!
But I'm curious - for other lolitas, especially those that consider themselves sweet or gothic, based on your wardrobe - how would you describe your Lolita style?
If you were a character in a book or something and you popped up in a dress you own - what's the description looking like? I think fairytale stuff is beautiful but I want to look historically FILTHY RICH.
