Shane’s punchline was similar in that he was ultimately making fun of how stupid he looks ogling in the background but the set up sucked

His set up and delivery sucked. He sounded awkward but not in a funny way.

I don't think he's done a good monologue on SNL yet. He always seems super nervous and just out of his element.

This one was no different.

His monologue sounded like he was practicing a new stand-up routine for the first time and not sure of how any of it would land.

I'll admit that I'm old and don't watch SNL very much anymore and this was the first time in a while I randomly caught it. But this guy kind of sucked, even in the sketches that were pretty good he came off as being stiff and having no timing. How was he considered for the cast?

I think this is accurate. The pre shot ones tend to do better in my opinion and his blowup in the green eggs sketch was so weird. He was making youtube videos back when he was originally considered, that might’ve helped get him the attention for it
