I don't get much time to play these days, but really enjoy playing with the sounds in my Stadium XL when I do get a few minutes spare. Noticed while using a guitar with very old strings (in a bad state, guitar strings and my sweat don't mix well) that playing notes on the higher (non wound) strings sound pretty awful. Really digital/fake sounding. I no longer have any "real" amps to compare directly with, but presumably it's a side effect of a very impure signal going through all the processing?
Is this a commonly known issue with all modeling gear?
The same guitar with new strings through the exact same preset sounds perfect.
I know it's probably best and most people probably use things like the parametric EQ in their presets rather than the global EQ but I only play in one venue ( a church) and with eight different snapshots over four presets ( one preset per song ) that's a lot of editing.
I know in theory clean snapshots, overdriven snapshots and lead snapshots should have individual customized parametric EQ settings and I may get there eventually but I wonder if the bulk of cutting through the mix can be accomplished in global EQ?
I already have things like high pass low cut filtering going on in my presets, generally filtering out frequencies below about 150 Hertz and also filtering out those above about 6 kilohertz, but I'm thinking of at least trying global EQ primarily to boost some portion of the mids
I updated my Stadium this morning to 1.4. I'm currently trying to update the app but it just keeps going in a loop. I download it, it says it's complete. I reopen the app, it says there's an update available. What am I doing wrong?
It is also worth mentioning that I have uninstalled and reinstalled the app, tried logging in and logging out. Nothing has worked.
I am also noticing that when I launched the update installer, it says it's the 1.3.2 installer. Not the 1.4
During heavy editing sessions at home ( OG Helix LT ), I want changes to stick as I move from block to block and snapshot to snapshot. Then I save once when done before moving to another preset. Setting snapshot edits to recall seems to achieve that, but what are the reasons I might want to revert that setting after these editing sessions?
My feet never get near the adjustment encoders near the screen.
I've come over from Fractal FM3 and I'm going to just stick with plugins as I'm only a bedroom player these days.
On the Fractal there's an 'input gain' parameter option for delays and reverbs. You can control this via a midi expression pedal.
Fractal blurb: ' Input Gain parameter inside the delay block controls the amount of signal fed into the effect processor, functioning similarly to an auxiliary send'
Is something like this possible with Helix at all. As this is an option that I've come to rely on.
Big thanks to everyone here who signed up for the Android beta. You caught a lot.
Since licensing came up a lot in the last weeks, here’s exactly what’s free and what isn’t:
Free: downloading any Helrig app (Android, Mac, Windows, Linux) and using the browser editor. Opening, editing and converting presets costs nothing and needs no account.
Needs a license: connecting to your pedal over USB (live editing, saving to the pedal, reading setlists, IRs). That’s Helrig Connect: a one-time purchase inside the same app, not a second app and not a subscription. Pay once and it never expires, with every update of this version and support for new Line 6 firmware included. One license works in every Helrig app, and in the iPad app too once it’s out. If you already have it, sign in on Android and you’re set.
Helrig Pro is yearly and includes Connect, plus the unlimited cloud library synced across your devices and every new release.
Going from Connect to Pro: you don’t pay twice. What you paid for Connect comes off your first year of Pro.
14-day refund on everything.
iPad: the code is ready and waiting on a USB permission from Apple. Once that comes through: beta test, App Store review, then release. No date, since step one is on Apple.
Questions, bugs, “doesn’t see my pedal”: drop them below and I’ll answer. Please include your phone or tablet model and your pedal.
Helrig is an unofficial, independent project by me, not affiliated with or endorsed by Line 6 or Yamaha. Line 6, Helix and HX are trademarks of their respective owners.
Basically the title. I'm the only EG player at my church and now that our piano player retired I'm having to fill in a lot of those gaps. Is there a way I can stay on the same preset but have a foot switch to change the tap tempo to a different preset tempo?
Right now I have a preset for each song, but the only thing that changes per preset is the tempo. Can I stay on one preset but just change the preset tempo so I can avoid the delay between songs when changing presets?
And I know I can just tap the tempo in but there isn't time for that. Needs to be preset tempos.
Hey all, Back when the Stadium was announced, it was said that Helix/HX line would continue to receive updates. I remember watching a video with Eric where he specifically talked about effects being developed for Stadium would be easily applied to the Helix. Anybody else remember this?
I think it was also said that someone on their team was going to be kept on Helix development. Not as sure about this.
I have a Brit Plexi & US Luxe Black stereo preset previously dialed in. After the update it sounded a little more alive. So I isolated my snapshots with various gain structures of each amp to hear them in their dry states. I wish I could have compared the differences from before the update, but I’m dialing things in freshly. In the process I created another preset to A/B the Brit Plexi and the SL100 with same settings and there’s a very noticeable difference. I had to tweak the SL100 to approximate the same tonality, levels, and gain for comparison. My first attempt has me thinking the difference is like there’s a blanket over the Brit Plexi compared to the SL100. Has anyone else been able to work with the SL100 yet, and I would be interested to hear your thoughts.
