Sergeant Brine - “Sergeant Major, they found it. It was activated moments before the blackout. They couldn’t find the home's resident. What should we do next?”
Sergeant Major Nag - “We need to get the power back on. We need to secure the area and lock down the house. I want at least three soldiers at this house at all times. This device is dangerous. We CANNOT let anyone around that device until it’s dismantled.”
Sergeant Brine - “Yes, Sergeant Major, I will get a patrol together, and we will watch the house.”
Sergeant Major Nag - “Sergeant, listen to me. Do not under any circumstances go into that garage.”
Sergeant Brine - “Understood, Sergeant Major.”

Sergeant Brine - “Do any of you know why we are watching this house, or what is in the garage?”
Sergeant Till - “I thought it was an EMP in the garage, and we were here to make sure nobody got into the house.”
Sergeant Brine - “If it was an EMP device, then we would have seized it by now. This doesn’t make any sense. I can’t wait for them to get back.”
Sergeant Till - “Yeah, it is weird now that you say it. Hopefully we will be filled in when they get back. Something about this doesn’t sit right with me.”
Sergeant Mik - “I saw inside when we first got here; it was some kind of device with a touchscreen interface and a lot of power cables going into it. It must have been pulling some serious power to cause a blackout like that.”
Sergeant Brine - “That is definitely not an EMP, at least not one I’d ever seen. What would it need all that power for anyway?”
Sergeant Till - “If it is an EMP, it is advanced. Nothing we have could ever do that much damage.”
Sergeant Mik - “When I went into the house, there were pictures of a family on the walls, but when we got here, we were only looking for the dad.”
Sergeant Brine - “I thought he lived alone. I didn’t get any information about a family.”
Sergeant Till - “I didn’t even know we were looking for someone. I was told to close down the street and make sure nobody enters or exits.”
Sergeant Mik - “The dad was wearing a lab coat in some of the photos. I assume he is some kind of scientist, and he built that device we're protecting.”
Sergeant Brine - “Why would someone with a family build an EMP and set it off to disappear?”
Sergeant Till - “People do some crazy stuff sometimes, but building an EMP to disappear is a new one.”
Sergeant Mik - “Yeah, definitely a new one. Not something I thought I’d be involved in.”
Sergeant Brine - “When they get here, they better tell us what is going on. I hate being kept in the dark.”

Sergeant Till - “Hey, guys, headlights are coming up the street”
Sergeant Brine - “That's strange; nobody let us know they were coming back. Does it look civilian?”
Sergeant Mik - “No, it looks government, but it’s not one of our trucks.”
Government Agent - “Hello, I'm a government agent, and I’m here to take over. You are all relieved of your duties. A cab will be here for you within minutes. If you haven't left the area within that amount of time, you will be arrested for criminal trespassing and will be dishonorably discharged.”
Sergeant Mik - “You can't just leave us in the dark like this. We sat here for over an hour protecting something we know nothing about. I want to know what that device is and why you are here.”
Government Agent - “You have 30 seconds to leave my sight before all of you end up in a cell for the rest of your life. GOT IT.”
Sergeant Brine - “OK, OK, we are leaving right now.”
Sergeant Till - “This night just got even more weird.”
Sergeant Mik - “They are hiding something from us, and they got US a cab. When we make it back to base, we need to get info.”
Sergeant Brine - “Agreed.”
Sergeant Till - “Hey, there’s the cab; let’s get out of here.”
Sergeant Brine - “Yeah, that guy was crazy.”

Government Agent - “Did you pick them up?”
Cab Driver - “Yeah, they are in the back.”
Government Agent - “Good, make sure they can’t be found. We can't let this get out to the public.”
Cab Driver - “Got it.”

Radio - “Make sure you get what you were sent for. We need that information.”
Government Agent - “I found his laptop where he keeps all his information. I’m grabbing it and bringing it in.”
Radio - “Good, now get back here before a civilian sees you.”
Government Agent - “Heading back to the car now. I’ll be there shortly.”

Sergeant Gip - “Sergeant Major, they aren’t here. We searched the entire property and the house. They’re gone.”
Sergeant Major Nag - “I know those men; they would never just leave like that. They would fight to the death if I gave the order. We need to use whatever GPS we have to find them.”
Sergeant Gip - “We saw footprints in the garage that aren't ours, Sergeant Major. And his laptop is missing.”
Sergeant Major Nag - “No person without inside knowledge would have done this. It had to be done by a secret government group. We need to lock this place down.”
Government Agent - “I suggest you leave.”
Sergeant Major Nag - “Who am I talking to, and how did you get access to this channel?”
Government Agent - “I work for the government, and you now take orders from me. GO BACK TO BASE. If any of you go back there without strict authorization, you will be imprisoned.”
Sergeant Major Nag - “We will leave when I know where my men are.”
Government Agent - “They are likely at the bottom of a cliff by now. SATISFIED. Now, for the second time. GO. BACK. TO. BASE.”
Sergeant Major Nag - “I’m going back to that base, alright. Then I'm going to find my men, then we will find you.”
Government Agent - “You can try to leave that base if you want to. Good luck.”
Sergeant Gip - “What was that about?”
Sergeant Major Nag - “We need to leave this house and get back to base. It was some government agent. They took my men.”

Professor Line - “This is Professor Rick G. Line. Today's date is April 6th, 2025. My wife took my daughter and left me due to what she says is an unhealthy obsession. It started a year ago with the research and theories, but as I learned more, I couldn’t stop myself from staying long hours in the garage working. She said she finally hit her breaking point. I only have myself to blame.”

I used the money to buy parts for the temporal displacement device, or TDD for short. Hopefully I will have enough money to buy everything I need.”
