Is Anyone Else In My Boat?
Hey everyone, L&C Sophomore here. Last semester (spring 2026) was pretty rough for me for a number of reasons, but largely due to a loss in the family. This semester, I regrettably took on a heavier course load than I could carry, although thankfully, I was just able to drop my hardest class without any consequences to my academic standing or overall GPA.
Last spring, I received by far the worst grades of my life, which dropped my GPA significantly. Here's the kicker: the only reason that I'm able to attend Lewis and Clark is because of a very generous scholarship offered to me by the school. In order to keep this scholarship, I need to maintain a minimum GPA of 2.0.
Ultimatley this is a reasonable objective, but what doesn't help is my severe OCD (which, for those who don't know, is FAR more than wanting things to be clean and symmetrical), along with a few other conditions such as ADHD and generalized anxiety disorder. For anyone who suffers from these, you'll understand why those things can turn a seemingly simple objective into a fight for my academic career.
I come from a small town USA, where I am the polar opposite of most everyone there, especially politically and ideologically. Portland is my favorite place to be, and I feel so at home and comfortable at Lewis & Clark. This is my whole livelihood, and I can't lose it.
I'm posting to see if there are any fellow neurodivergents (or literally anyone) in this same boat as me who might want to talk about our experience and offer each other insight or encouragement. I think a big part of it is that I've felt alone in my journey up to this point, and I feel like having at least one person to relate to could make this seem a lot more doable.
Cheers, everyone, I hope you all have a great semester!
