SUB ANNOUNCEMENT BIOS Update N3CN42WW - We have an official update from Lenovo (finally!)

This is from the website Tech Power Up:

  • While the root cause has not been identified yet, it is clear it is not user error. As such it should generally be handled under warranty and, in the case of out-of-warranty devices, it should be repaired free of charge, but please check local laws. It was recently revealed in a handful of Reddit posts that an official Lenovo Legion Go BIOS update (N3CN42WW) was apparently causing the handheld gaming PCs to become unresponsive, with users claiming Lenovo told them they would be on the hook for repair costs.
  • Now, nearly three weeks after the issues initially popped up, Lenovo has confirmed in a recent forum post that the issues cause by the BIOS update were indeed "not user error," and that repairs will be conducted by Lenovo under warranty. While the root cause has not been identified yet, it is clear it is not user error.
  • As such it should generally be handled under warranty and, in the case of out-of-warranty devices, it should be repaired free of charge, but please check local laws.

So the good news is that Lenovo is addressing that the update failures were indeed a hardware problem and not something that was originally deemed as user error.

We will post a follow up as to when this gets further addressed, but according to Lenovo techs, they said they are "studying the issue".

Hey Everyone,

It has come to our attention that some of the Z1E and Z1 versions are being bricked when updating to the latest BIOS that was released on June 17th, 2026.

Please do not update your devices unless you are willing to assume all risks. We the mod team are trying our best to understand and get help on this.

If we have any updates, we will share here. In the meantime, just comment with +1 if you are effected. This way we can get an understanding of how many of us are effected by this.

Thank you

Update: As mentioned in the pinned chat, Lenovo has removed the 42WW update

I’ve had the ps portal for over a year and my biggest issue with it was the screen and low bitrate. Got the urge to play GTA IV again and didn’t want to build a whole pc so I got on eBay bought this for £700 Z2e version still has warranty and I haven’t been able to drop it since wondering why I didn’t get it sooner. Only complaint is it came with 512gb but I’ve ordered a 990Pro 4TB. Having a blast on Mortal Shell 2 now

HELP REQUEST Game crashing instantly

Post image
8 Upvotes

I bought MX vs ATV: Unleashed on steam to relive some childhood memories of playing it on the og xbox, but it crashes instantly. I tried compatibility modes, Disabling Fullscreen optimizations and went into settings to force integrated graphics. I don't know what to do.

I have the Legion Go Z1 Extreme.

EDIT: I FOUND A (Kinda) Fix!!!!

A mod called OPEN UNLEASHED just came out and basically overhauls the entire game. For some reason downloading it and running the game from there fixed it for me.

Thanks u/aliatta for the help

QUESTION Anyone know how to use this?

Post image

In Legion Space there's a way to adjust the sensitivity of the sticks but I don't know what the two dots are for. I just moved them around and see what changes. I think I unintentionally found some good FPS settings by luck but don't understand what the hell I did by dropping 1 dot to the bottom and moving the other slightly to the left. 🤣

HELP REQUEST Input Lag Amazon Luna OG LEGO

Does anybody have a fix for input lag when playing games from Amazon Luna on the OG Legion Go?

Trying to stream Star Wars Galactic Racer, but the I input lag is around 3 to 5 seconds from the controllers. If I open the on-screen keyboard I can move fluidly in the game and there is no noticeable lag. So it is like the controllers are Bluetooth even when attached? Detaching the controllers yields the same result as attached.

I also tried this on my laptop but same outcome, except with a physical keyboard. I don't currently have a wired controller to test, but the issue seems to be Bluetooth in both cases.

Alternatively, any recommendation for a budget wired USB C or WIFI controller to use with the Legion Go?

QUESTION Anyone here has an experience of using the Aoostar eGPU dock? How was it?

my machine: Legion Go 2 Z2 non-extreme version, 32GB RAM, 1TB storage SSD, got myself all accessories ready for this project btw, extra docking station, cables, extra controllers (Gamesir 🫡), tri-connect keyboard mouse, etc.

2-Year Target Plan:

Aoostar eGPU dock

AOOSTAR AG03 Thunderbolt 4 & OCuLink eGPU Dock

or

AOOSTAR AG03 Thunderbolt 5 & OCuLink eGPU Dock (800W) --most likely I might end up here eventually 🤔

GPU

  1. GIGABYTE - NVIDIA GeForce RTX 4070 WINDFORCE OC 12G GDDR6X PCI Express 4.0 Graphics Card

  2. ASUS DUAL NVidia GeForce RTX 5060 8GB GDDR7 OC Edition

  3. ASUS Dual GeForce RTX 5060 8GB OC

  4. Palit GeForce RTX 5060 Ti Dual 8GB

or basically any at the time available to buy at best, I'd prefer NVIDIA 4060 and up, over AMDs 🚫 coz of driver thingy thanks to this dude -

https://youtu.be/H0IjBhhZNRA?si=8AjNN0yAecKlv804

I am encouraged to this project future-proofing my Go 2 and only cons, is the data transfer limitation/bandwidth the Go2 can handle, and don't get me wrong I am 100% good with that not a deal breaker for me. Covering upcoming games can accom Very High graphs, and 60fps and up. Im super okay with that.

Anyone can share their experience with this sorta stuff? Pros Cons all that are welcome 🍻

DISCUSSION VRR stuttering after SteamOS 3.8.28 on Legion Go 2 and ROG Xbox Ally X — built-in displays affected?

Has anyone else noticed VRR becoming noticeably less smooth after the recent SteamOS update?

I’m experiencing the same issue on two handhelds:

  • Lenovo Legion Go 2
  • ROG Xbox Ally X

Both were working smoothly about a week ago. Since updating, games fluctuating between roughly 50 and 70 FPS show obvious stuttering, where those same fluctuations previously felt smooth with VRR enabled. This also happens around 80–90 FPS.

I initially tested with MAKO frame generation set to 0, then completely removed the MAKO launch command from the game’s Steam properties and relaunched. The problem remains.

Interestingly, VRR still works properly on my Steam Machine connected to a VRR TV. That makes me suspect an issue affecting the handhelds’ built-in displays, rather than VRR being broken everywhere. This is only a hypothesis based on my three devices.

The issue appeared on SteamOS 3.8.28. I’ve also tried the 3.9 beta, without resolving it.

Anyone else experiencing this on a built-in VRR display? Please share your device, SteamOS version, and whether an older version or any workaround restores the previous smoothness.

QUESTION Finally got a Lego S1ZE Steam OS. Any game recommendations?

I typically like playing games that are easy and somewhat mindless that I can just pick up whenever I want to like Stardew valley, Dave the diver, hollow knight, etc.

Does the Lego S also run AAA games? I have quite a bit of steam backlog

DISCUSSION How much VRAM and RAM do you actually need?

All these posts claiming that 16GB of RAM is not enough and 8GB of VRAM is insufficient are complete nonsense and lies. I have tested numerous AAA/AAAA games using 3GB VRAM and 6GB VRAM configurations in Full HD and 800p resolutions. There is absolutely no difference at all. A difference only appears if you crank the settings up to High or Ultra. So, don't listen to all those bloggers who play games for 15 minutes max just to record a video clip.
