Comments Moderated If you use generative AI to provide advice, you will be banned

1.5k Upvotes
  • If OP wanted advice from AI, they would have asked AI, rather than posted on a forum containing humans.
  • The AI advice that we see here is more often than not one (or more) of the following:
    • completely lacking in nuance,
    • fails to appreciate that there is no such thing as "UK law",
    • doesn't even try to provide an answer in any of the UK's legal systems, or
    • is just general trash.
  • Even the AI that big law firms use is still capable of coming up with very believable sounding garbage. If they don't notice that it's garbage, neither will you.
  • It's really obvious when you use AI - like, really

Don't believe me? Here's what happened when I told AI to "give me ten good reasons why people should not use generative AI to provide legal advice":

Generative AI can confidently give wrong answers. Large language models are designed to produce plausible text, not guaranteed truth. In legal matters, a convincing but incorrect answer can lead to fines, lawsuits, lost rights, or criminal exposure.

Laws change constantly. Statutes, regulations, and case law evolve every month. AI systems may rely on outdated training data and fail to reflect current legal standards, deadlines, or precedents.

Legal advice depends heavily on jurisdiction. The same issue can have completely different outcomes in United Kingdom, United States, or even between cities and states. AI often generalizes across jurisdictions without warning the user.

AI lacks accountability. A licensed lawyer can be sued for malpractice, disciplined by a bar association, or held professionally responsible. AI systems generally cannot be held accountable in the same way.

AI cannot fully understand context. Legal problems often hinge on nuanced facts, credibility, timelines, motives, or undocumented conversations. AI may miss subtle but critical details that a trained attorney would probe.

Confidentiality and privilege may not apply. Communications with a lawyer can be protected by attorney-client privilege. Conversations with AI tools typically are not, which can create privacy and evidentiary risks.

AI may fabricate legal citations or cases. There have been multiple real-world incidents where lawyers submitted AI-generated court filings containing nonexistent cases or fake quotations, leading to sanctions and reputational damage.

Legal strategy involves judgment, not just information retrieval. Good legal counsel includes negotiation tactics, risk assessment, procedural timing, and understanding human behavior in courts, regulators, and opposing parties. AI does not possess professional judgment or lived experience.

People may overtrust authoritative-sounding outputs. AI responses are often fluent and confident, which can create a false sense of reliability. Non-experts may struggle to distinguish accurate guidance from subtle errors.

Unauthorized practice of law concerns. In many jurisdictions, providing individualized legal advice without a license can violate professional regulations. Relying on AI as a substitute for qualified counsel may create ethical and legal problems for both providers and users.

Some of those are good reasons. But some of them are themselves errors that perfectly prove the point: it thinks the UK is one legal system, and worries about the "unauthorized practice of law", when simply providing advice on what the general law is is not a protected activity anywhere in the UK (unless you get into specific regulated sectors, such as immigration advice).

Some day, AI might be good enough that we can all pack up and go home. Until that day, if you use generative AI to provide advice, you will be permanently banned without further warning.

Healthcare Photographs for work “mandatory”.

England

Boss wants staff photos for website and social media use.

Boss has sent message out;

Mandatory photography session
- everybody has to be there for the website photos.
- sickness or well please come in ready for those photos as paying for someone to come in for this

Thank you

Boss has a consent form to sign;

I declare that:
The name of the person in the photographs) is (the "Subject"); I hereby give my consent to the organization (NAME) for the use of images where the person subject is included therein, taken by said organization for production and use which the said person may appear in websites owned by the organization, publications produced, print advertisements introduced by them and social media;
In giving this consent, I understand and declare that:
- I am giving this consent in my own free will, and not under duress or in any form of threat.
A lot more info regarding the practice held back for anonymity

I do not want my photos taken. I had 1 single and 1 group photo taken 3 years ago and agreed for website only. They then posted on social media which I received many comments regarding my looks. I had to message the places it was posted requesting it be removed.
I have a private instagram and a Facebook without any photos on. I’m not exactly private but refuse this.

Obviously there’s the obvious MANDATORY vs UNDER MY OWN FREE WILL comment but I’m right in that I can simple say no and carry on my life?

Were also a dental practice so many of the comments on the photos of me were of begrudged ex patients complaining about “me” kicking them off the NHS when we stopped the NHS contract. Some had over 100 comments. My boss has made sure the comments about her were deleted but the others were all kept.

Comments Moderated England: Thames Water have reduced the water pressure in my area, rendering my boiler functionally useless. Is there anything I can do?

In early July of this year, the shower in my top-floor flat stopped producing hot water for more than about a minute at a time. Plumber confirms no issue with boiler -- the boiler-adjacent kitchen tap gets hot water -- but notes very low mains water pressure. I contact Thames, who confirm no leak, and that the pressure in the area has been incrementally reduced since the beginning of the year. They have capped it at around 1.7 bar which, when travelling 3 storeys, amounts to barely anything. Cold water flow rate of about 2L/minute, slowed even further when working its way through the boiler. Boiler pressure gauge in the red permanently.

Thames aren't doing anything legally wrong. They're expected to offer at least 0.7 bar of ground-floor pressure, which the 1.7 bars clearly exceed, but this decision doesn't take into account the height of any buildings. This issue also affects my next-door neighbour.

Plumber's solution is a bespoke pumping system costing around £5k, not including the cost of scaffolding or a necessary review by a structural engineer due to the weight of the tank. Water system in the flat is separate for each flat, not combined, so not within the management company's purview. Leasehold agreement doesn't go beyond the right to 'free running water'.

I have a case open with Thames. They've implied that they're reviewing the situation on a network level and may reverse their decision. They have no timeline, the network team seem unreachable for comment and we're about to head into winter without a hot shower. We're also reluctant to pull the trigger on the plumbing solution, in case Thames do end up fixing it. They suggested that "if they get enough complaints" they may be more inclined to do this, but our postcode comprises just our flat complex's 2 buildings: 12 flats, only 2 of which have this specific problem (for some reason the second building doesn't seem to be affected).

This is driving me crazy -- I've been unable to have a hot shower in my home for almost 4 months, and we're about to get into the winter season. Do I have any other recourse other than emailing my MP or councillors? Is it possible to lodge a complaint against part of a service that is ill-thought-out but lawful? This obviously isn't a plumbing sub, but have I missed something somewhere?

TIA.

Criminal Will I go to prison? Assault on officer

I fucked up really bad. I was going through a depressive episode and drinking very heavily. I got very drunk one night, got arrested for drunk and disorderly and then assaulted the officer arresting me and later kicked out in the cells. Been sorting myself out since - signed off sick from work, going to AA, going to key worker appointments attending weekly therapy.

I feel so awful about the whole thing. I’m sober now for 1 month and working on myself. What’ll happen?

Housing Urgently in need of free legal advice UK England

My ex wife and I divorced 7 years ago. I tried to get her to enter into a financial agreement but she refuses to communicate with me. We jointly own a property and I have had no benefit from that property since I left back in 2017. She point blank refuses to talk to me. In 2020 I received repossession paperwork as it turns out she hadn't been paying management fees/ ground rent. At no point had she informed me that it wasn't being paid. Shortly after this I received court documents telling me that my ex was taking me to court for a financial settlement. The judge ruled that the property should be put on the market immediately. It took her 5 months and despite having several offers she is still holding up in the property. She agreed to the last offer but kept the buyers waiting for 8 months, so they backed out. The judge ruled that she was exclusively liable for the management fees. Now the management company are taking us to court as the sale has been rumbling on for nearly 3 years. I have no money for solicitors..how do I proceed? Thanks in advance.

GDPR/DPA HR sent my information out to all staff england.

Today at work HR sent an email with my details. Including my wages, sick days and holiday days out to the entire company. Ive been working here for 4 years. And 2 weeks ago I've handed my notice in. I had my exit interview on Monday. But out of the blue I hear people laughing and whispering. I'm constantly on the phone so I didnt think to check my emails but HR came to me and said they were really sorry.

I was shocked and confused as I had no idea. Turns out everyone saw this email before it was recalled. I do not have the email. I didnt see this email before it was recalled but a few teams messages from colleagues have suggest its my wages, holiday days and absence days.

I'm just really shocked by it all and quite upset as all I got was an apology and I had to carry on working. No meeting to discuss this. No manager spoke to me. Nothing. I dont know what else was on that email but I'm wondering if there's anything I can do as this is a breach of gdpr.

Debt & Money Car badly hit , driver denying it , insurance mess England

My car was caught in a multiple car pile up on a UK motorway . I was fortunately able to slow down . However this car behind me wasn’t and crashed into me which was exacerbated by the person who crashed into him (even faster ) . My passenger in the back recalls two bumps . I recall an enormous crash and my car is very damaged . I only have TPFT (big error on my part) so my insurers won’t help. I’ve raised a claim with the car that crashed , and they are stating no liability as he’s stating the final car was the issue . I’ve obviously sent them witness statement , photos and I’ve applied for the CCTV . It was obviously a bad and traumatic incident. But I’m shocked that this fella can just state his story to his insurers and they take his word. I’ve now lost a car that cost me £13k. Has anyone navigated something like this ? My insurance haven’t contacted me after I informed them , and certainly the damage isn’t covered by them .

Debt & Money Premier Inn refund of multiple charges in England

At the beginning of the month my family stayed for the weekend at a Premier Inn. One of the nights we had dinner in their restaurant. When we went to pay they said that it didn't go through. They had my husband try three times. Then they got a different machine and when they inputted the total in the new machine it was 80p less than the other machine (this may be important later).

Later on when I looked in the banking app I noticed that all four of the charges went through. My husband went down and asked them about it and they said the extra charges would be refunded. We went home and I waited a week and no refund came.

My husband has now been talking to them and they are saying that they have no record of multiple charges from our card and won't issue a refund.

I'm also worried about the fact that one of the chargers was 80p less, that even if we do get a refund we won't get a refund for that one because they will say it's a separate thing since it's a different amount.

This has now been going on for over two weeks and we are out almost £150 in the extra charges which we can't really spare.

Consumer [England] ASOS closed my account meanwhile two items in my (one and only ever) order are missing and they've refused to refund me as well

so I placed an order containing 6 items on asos. they divided the order into 2 parcels, each containing 3 items, each w a different parcel number - this is what it showed me on the website. on the day of expected delivery, I receive just one parcel containing 4 items and 2 items were still undelivered. on the website however, the parcel number that was actually delivered appeared as "out for delivery" and the one containing the undelivered items appeared as delivered. it looked like there was a swap in the parcel numbers? a couple of days passed and it was still showing out for delivery. I contacted the delivery partner first regarding the 2 missing items - didnt get anything concrete. then contacted asos. their customer support exec told me the reason why the 2 items have not been delivered is coz theyre low in stock at their warehouse and that she could offer me a refund which I obv accepted. she told me that its been initiated and will be credited in my acc within 10 days. the next day I get an email that my asos acc has been closed, refund has been declined and that I can never place an order with any acc ever again. idk why this happened? I explained this whole story with extreme detail in an email but they only responded saying theyve looked into it again and my acc will remain closed and any further email regarding this matter will be ignored.

I dont get what I've done wrong tbh. the two items were worth 100 pounds and I was just following up on them w the customer support. is there anything that I can do to fix this situation and either get those items or get the refund?

Housing Suspected Asbestos Disturbed by Volunteers Against my Instruction

England, UK. I created a Ltd company of which I am the sole director and signed a commercial lease on behalf of said Ltd company.

The aim was to set up a community facility for hobbyists and to do this an area of the property needed some renovation. On the first day of the renovation, myself and two volunteers (let's call them Mr. A and Mr. B) discovered underneath carpeting suspected asbestos containing material (ACM) floor tiles.

I instructed Mr. A and Mr. B to not disturb these tiles in any way until we had identified their composition.

Two days later I discovered that Mr. A and Mr. B have overseen two other volunteers in removing wooden carcassing causing damage to the tiles. I advised Mr. A to do no more with the floor before we have identified it.

Days later I discover Mr. A has with three other volunteers been scraping the entire surface with wallpaper scrapers, brushed and vacuumed several times after that and then filled the broken section with an all purpose filler.

At which point I request that no members of the volunteer team enter the site until asbestos survey results have come back identifying the flooring.

But they go back the next day and carry out decorating work using a set of keys they have in their possession.

I have reached out to local solicitors for counsel.

What are my potential responsibilities as director and client, how many have I failed?

What duties may be owed to the volunteers?

What are my next steps?

Civil Litigation Can I claim against slander on court papers? In England

I recently put a small claims case against a company which didn’t pay my companies invoice. This is a medium size company and we are a very small company. They paid the invoice the day after the claim was submitted. They believed they didn’t need to pay me as the work was cancelled, by them.

When I was communicating with them they were using scare tactics like your a small company and you have not legal department your case won’t hold up, small companies like you are fraudulent etc.

In the court paperwork before paying us, they have admitted part claim, paid the invoice in full but not the court fees which I will be chasing. Here they have also wrote we are a fraudulent company.

They have also left a review on our company profile saying we are fraudulent, which I’ve since been able to have deleted.

Can I do anything about this? I find this behaviour disgusting as they are trying to intimidate and bully a small company.

Debt & Money I want my employer investigated

Bit of a random one but me and my colleagues are seriously considering having our employer looked in to. It’s just that we don’t know where to go.

Basically- he’s a very dodgy man. Accounts are always getting cancelled, cards are being rejected, payments are late and never in full (our salaries), he mishandled our tax payments and pensions.

We have spoken to HMRC and ACAS on separate occasions about these issues but they were actually pretty unhelpful. They suggested just talking to him about it (we have no HR) or any opportunity to investigate would mean him knowing we’ve reported him (there’s only 3 of us).

What we’d love to do is to have some anonymous investigation into him, his accounts and his handling of the business.

Is there actually a way to do this?

Scotland I’m moving out in a month - My Landlord didn’t put my security deposit into a scheme, and followed none of the necessary legal formalities - How tedious would Tribunal be? Should I do it? (Scotland)

All of the issues I’ve had with the property (I’ve lived here for 19 months):

- Although it isn’t confirmed, I’m 99% sure my security deposit was not put into a safe third party scheme after I bank transferred it to my landlord. (How do I confirm this outside of asking directly? I didn’t receive an email confirmation or anything. I have asked them and they are avoiding the question)

- Basic maintenance duties were not provided: My front door’s lock was broke (the front doorhandle could be pulled out of the door) and the only security I had was the top snib to keep it closed for the majority of my tenancy until I had to re-ask/demand for it to get fixed a month ago, after a break-in attempt. Any time I have asked for maintenance (which is only twice, due to how uncomfortable the interaction is) my landlord’s sister (who maintains the property as my landlord doesn’t live in the country) tells me that she wouldn’t know who to contact and she wouldn’t have had anyone to do the maintenance duties if her family friend wasn’t available (i.e, all maintenance duties are done by their family friends who are also labourers(?), despite the fact that my rent money should go toward paying for maintenance)

Because they’ve treated the initial maintenance requests this way, it’s caused me to then not report further ones as they’ve made me feel like I’m inconveniencing them (I will be sending a small list reporting the sort of stuff that’s in the flat that needs repaired)

- I was paying £600 for a 1 bedroom flat in a town 30mins outside of glasgow, with no central heating and the above issues (this feels like a pricey rent for what is overall provided). The final issue that has caused me to source moving out, is that my landlord’s sister messaged me on whatsapp with the following message in September:

“Hi good morning. How are you ? I hope you are well. I would like to talk about rent actually. We supposed to make increase on march 2026 but did not do it 😊. As a land lord we have been paying insurance and etc . by paying %100 increase. My sister told me to notice you we have to put monthly rent up. New rent will be £700 per month.. we would appreciate if you start paying next month. Thank you very much 🙏🏻”

So I was expected to start paying a £100 increase in a matter of weeks (not giving me a 3month rent increase notice) for a property that is already quite pricey for the quality, and not regularly maintained.

- all correspondence has been on whatsapp, in similar broken english as the above.

So: The landlord siblings seem to be really lovely people when I’ve met/spoke to them and i believe this is their first time managing a property, but their practice as a landlord has been super dubious and I’d be concerned if the next tenant was a first-time student tenant (like myself) who didn’t recognise these red flags until too late. In hindsight I was sitting in this property during winter absolutely freezing, with all these issues, but paying £600 (and then expected to pay £100 more out of the blue)

I’ve spoke to citizens advice solely about the security deposit issue, who tells me that if I do the paperwork for tribunal, i could get at the most 3months worth of rent back as compensation. Some sort of compensation for the amount of stress this property’s caused me would be ideal, and I also would want to do this to try make sure their practice in the future is more ethical/legal for the next tenant.

But I’m wondering how feasible it will be for me to achieve this, is it worth the time, is there anything listed in the above outside of the security deposit issue that could also be used for the tribunal case?

How lengthy would tribunal be, what would be expected of me/what would i need, etc? Thanks in advance!

Northern Ireland Received unsealed county court money claim form

Hi,

I’ve received an unsealed county court money claim form in the post. It has no seal and no court reference number. I run a small part time business (in England but I’m based in Northern Ireland) where a customer had requested an item, and paid a refundable deposit whilst requesting more photos. I’ve mistakenly sold the item to someone else, getting it mixed up with another similar one. I’ve apologised and immediately refunded him his deposit.

He now seems to be suing me for a loss of a bargain, the item he wanted to buy was £825, which was a very good deal. He’s saying he’s bought a more expensive version and wants to claim the difference (about £1700).

In my view a refundable deposit that he could have pulled out at any time isn’t a valid binding contract - he hadn’t paid in full, nor had he even got to the stage of agreeing he wanted it.

Do I have to respond to an unsealed claim form?

Thanks!

Comments Moderated England — Amazon has lost my device sent for repair, five failed escalations, where do I stand legally?

Location: England

I'm hoping for some guidance on where I stand legally with an ongoing dispute with Amazon UK regarding a device I sent for repair.

Background:

  • On 26/08/2026, I sent my Nvidia Shield Pro to Amazon for repair due to a faulty power supply. I bought it from Amazon directly.

Timeline:

  • 16/09/2026 — Received email confirmation the repair was underway. The tracking link for the repair status was broken and never worked.
  • 05/10/2026 — Received an email saying the device had been dispatched back to me. The tracking link was still broken, and the device was never delivered.
  • 10/10/2026 — Contacted live chat. Case escalated to the repair team, with a promise of email contact within 24–48 hours. Nothing arrived.
  • 12/10/2026 — Contacted live chat again. Same escalation, same promise of contact within 24 hours. Nothing arrived.
  • 13/10/2026 — Contacted live chat a third time. Same escalation, same 24-hour promise. Nothing arrived.
  • 15/10/2026 (today) — Contacted live chat a fourth time. The agent told me they "don't have any resolution for this item," repeated the same escalation and 24-hour promise, refused to provide a case reference number or a supervisor, and then closed the chat while my questions were still outstanding.

Relevant details:

  • I have all chat transcripts and emails saved as evidence.
  • The tracking links provided in Amazon's own emails have never worked at any point.
  • I have no idea where my device physically is — it was marked "dispatched" on 05/10 but never arrived, and no tracking number has ever functioned.
  • I have explicitly declined a refund and requested a replacement, on the basis of my rights under the Consumer Rights Act 2015 (repair/replacement for faulty goods). I'd rather not have a refund; I want the device replaced as I'm entitled to.

My questions:

  1. Am I correct that under the Consumer Rights Act 2015 I'm entitled to a replacement rather than being forced to accept a refund?
  2. Given the device has effectively been lost in Amazon's repair/delivery chain, who bears the risk of loss here — me or Amazon?
  3. What is the most effective escalation route at this point? I'm aware there's no ombudsman covering Amazon, so my understanding is the options are: a formal written complaint to Amazon head office, Trading Standards (via Citizens Advice), a Section 75/chargeback claim, and/or Money Claim Online. Have I missed anything, and in what order would people recommend pursuing these?
  4. Is there any realistic prospect of claiming compensation beyond the value of the device — e.g. for the ~7 weeks without the item, or the repeated wasted time chasing this?

Any advice appreciated, particularly from anyone who has dealt with a similar situation with Amazon's repair process.

Apologise if my replies to this thread will be delayed - I'll read and reply to all the comments tomorrow evening. I appreciate all of the advice and comments.

Comments Moderated Childhood friend in trouble: life falling apart from long-term alcoholism and addiction, just received several inheritances, new partner is a heroin addict

• Upvotes

This is based in Wales. Childhood friend has been a functioning alcoholic and addict (mostly cocaine) for years. Ran a small business reasonably successfully for 30 years. The last 12 months he has spiraled. Lost his premises (stopped opening up and paying rent, owner has changed locks, loyal customers given up), lost his driver's licence, and in a relationship with a heroin addict. He's received 3 inheritances in the past 12 months ~250k. The new girlfriend is now his fiance and the will has been changed to leave everything to her (house and bank balance I guess). He has started using heroin and won't listen to reason from friends or family, even after being recently hospitalised after an attack by his girlfriend's dealer. It's a coercive, abusive relationship. Girlfriend is fully controlling his contact now. Anything can be done to help him and safeguard his finances? I don't think he'll make it to the end of the year as things stand.

Wills & Probate Mother passed in South Africa, 10 years after leaving UK. HSBC want probate for £12k. England

• Upvotes

My Mother passed away in 2024. She left a UK bank account which had around £12k in it. She had a house in SA but the will for here was separate. HSBC won’t release the funds without full probate. I’m under the impression that £12k is well under the probate limit. Is there someone to complain to or do we just have to bite the bullet?

Locked Moto Services - Refused access to disabled bathroom when given access the person who refused opens the door while I'm inside.

Yesterday I was refused access to the disabled bathroom in the services, I got about my business the best I could without it. Today, I was again refused by the same person "You are not disabled" I was told once more, I went to WH Smiths and got a key, the person who twice refused watched me enter, a couple of minutes go by and that same person unlocks and opens the door to see inside. I'm livid. I only temporarily require access to these facilities, I'm not permanently disabled, I have no blue badge. Can I do something about what has happened here besides complaining? Is this harassment?

UK England ULEZ fine for a petrol car that is (technically) EURO4-

The DVLA told me to do one basically. Cars destined for Japan can be from the same factory as cars destined for Europe but they cannot be issued a European COC no matter how identical they are apparently. The TFL have accepted the homologation certificate I got from Volvo and even Volvo said the DVLA have accepted these certs in the past but not for me apparently. So no V5 change not even the Nox section, but my issues were resolved nonetheless.

I spoke to the DVLA, TFL, VCA and DVSA.

Traffic & Parking Child's arrangements order travel arrangements england (family, wont let me change flair)

Hello

So me and the mother of my child are on a court order which was finalised in may this year. Im court ordered to do 100% of travel, 200 miles per fortnight.(me and the mother live approx 50 miles apart and has always been like that since our child was born) with the mother to help out with some travel if at times i need to double up my journeys. ( by either family/partner or travel by train)

At the time the order was made, I drove and had a car and the mother didnt drive or have a car. So i was okay with doing majority of the travel based on the current circumstances. HOWEVER, the mother actually passed her driving test before the order was made and now has a car, but she kept that quiet at court in my opinion to avoid doing any travelling.

Ive tried to be civil with the mother and even said im still happy doing most of the travelling but can she just help out even once per month either by meeting half way, or I collect her on my time and she collect her on her time. Each time she either just refuses or comes up with excuses everytime.

I understand the court will look at what is best for my child.

My question is, given the change of circumstances, can or should i apply back to court to ask for a variation in travel arrangements and if so, what would be my best approach? Thanks

Debt & Money PrettyLittleThing refusing to refund for a returned dress because it’s been over a month – is this legal (England)?

I’m looking for advice on whether PrettyLittleThing’s actions are legal under UK consumer law.

On 8 July 2026, I purchased two dresses from PrettyLittleThing. I returned both dresses on 23 July 2026. THE RETURN WAS WITHIN PLT’S RETURN WINDOW. However, I only received a refund for one of them. I am still owed £20 for the second dress.

I contacted PLT to request the remaining refund on 14 October. However they told me they cannot investigate because more than a month has passed since I returned the dress and there is nothing further they can do.

I find this incredibly frustrating because I returned both items within the return window, and the fact that more than a month has passed shouldn’t mean I lose my right to a refund.

My questions are:

  1. Is PLT legally entitled to refuse to investigate or refund me simply because more than a month has passed since I returned the item? Am I still entitled to the £20 refund?
  2. Has anyone experienced something similar with PLT, and were you able to get your money back?

I appreciate that it is only £20, but I don’t think a retailer should be able to withhold a refund for a returned item simply because of an arbitrary deadline.

Thanks in advance for any advice!

Hello All! 29 years ago I foolishly got married . I was young and silly. The marriage only lasted 3 months after she decided to go off with her best friends brother. She went on to have 2 children with him and I moved 300 miles away from where we lived, so I have no idea where she is, or have contact with anyone who would.

So for 29 years I paid her very little thought, after all she chose her ,life but heres my quandary. I have just been left my fathers house. So I need to know if I make a will myself leaving my assets to say, XYZ, would that cover myself should anything happen to me , meaning she would have no claim?

I have spoken with Quickie Divorce who for £499 can get me the divorce, but they also told me I would then have to get a 'clean order' (I think that's what they said) and that would then stop any her.

Now this is all hyperphetical. After being seperated for 29 years she might be dead herself, or if I was to die, she might never know if I had. Also, I'm guessing if she did she would have to raise some money to contest my will?

Basically I would like to know what action I should take to protect any assest's after I'm gone.

Thanks in advance!
