Striped pattern for leggings/stockings etc

Post image
32 Upvotes

Hi all!

Been learning latex making for a couple months now so I wanna try to experiment with more than just black

I'm trying to make a pair of stockings that have thick stripes the whole way as shown in this picture

How would one go about this?

I've heard appliqué could work but I'm a bit hesitant because of the layering of latex won't give a perfect smooth finish. I've also been recommended painting with liquid latex, as well as airbrushing with a createx + liquid latex mix

If anyone has any experience in this, please let me know! I'm mostly puzzled thinking about how some studios manage to make super detailed catsuits based on a client's design or fursona for example, and it ends up perfectly smooth and stuff

Thanks!

Supplier Link What glue for latex

• Upvotes

Hello everyone,

I’m looking for a good glue for crafting my latex clothes. I used to buy the one from latex repair wich is good quality.

But it seems quite expensive to me, specially because of the transport fees and the taxes. I think they are based in the UK and I am in France.

Does a fellow EU crafter knows a good brand or supplier for the glue ?

I was thinking about buying from eurocatsuit but there a some comments about the bad service and how deliveries can be complicated…

I know there used to be some « classic » brands selling glues very efficient, like on amazon or in some work stores.

Thanks a lot for your advices :)

Wanting to adjust some things about my hood, it's photogenic but uncomfortable and super hard to hear in!! I need the mouth to be much wider and would like to know if it's ideal to use scrap latex cut to fit the perimeter of the new mouth hole. The current hole is unable to move with my mouth very comfortably, I'm half autistic about the sensory aspect and half peeved that i can't give proper head in this thing LOL Anyway I was thinking 3 rivets instead of 1 for better hearing; and so the symmetry isnt as important to get 100% on the first try. The gaps have more surface area, is my theory anyway.

I have experience sewing and making 3d patterns from scratch for costumes, working with volatile chemicals such as contact cement, I'm pretty confident but i fear it's misplaced. Not pictured; baking paper and isopropyl to clean the rubber with when prepping the surface. It's 99%, i dont know if I need to water it down

What do you guys use to mark a point on the rubber? Drawn-on baking paper? Crayons? I'm stumped

Had made a pair of stirrups before but the desire for full coverage is too strong, wrapped and cut out a sock and just grafted it onto the old pattern.

Sole of the feet was as expected the biggest pain ever to glue, but it was worth it!

Maybe attempt opera gloves sometime?

How do you set metal eyelets in latex?

What material do you use between the layers of latex to reinforce the eyelets and prevent them from coming loose when the material stretches?
I’ve been using cotton twill soaked in liquid latex, but I’m looking for an alternative with a smoother, less textured finish.

HI everyone!

I'm looking for someone who has experience with cutting appliques? I need someone who know how to make them so that I can glue them on my pieces. I don't have the equipment for it so I'm looking for someone! :)

Replacing broken zipper in catsuit

hello! I recently finished my first catsuit with catasta charismas pattern. unfortunately the zippers I used for the back and crotch arent sturdy enough to hold up when putting the catsuit on. one tooth from the back zipper broke when I changed out of the suit for the first time. I don’t wanna take chances with the crotch zipper, so I’m planning on replacing that too. my question is, what’s the best way of replacing zippers in catsuits? my plan was to cut out the damaged zipper with a small trim of the latex surrounding it and preparing the new one in a similar way, with a 3-4cm latex trim around it, and glueing it in. I know it will be visible to a degree, but I’m fine with that. does anyone have experience with this? or a better idea?

Radical Rubber kg bags

Has anyone has purchased the KG sheeting bags from radical rubber? I ordered my first two and was expecting sheets to be a minimum of 50x50 cm as this is what was stated in the description, however I got mostly small scraps. I was wondering if anyone has had this same experience?

Are these kinds of glue ok?

In my country, latex crafts are not popular so finding the right glue has proven to be very hard. I would really appreciate some advice on whether these kinds of glue can work:

• UHU Contact Liquid

• Tamiya cement glues (there are many kinds, just throwing it out in case someone has experience)

• Tire-patching rubber cement (almost all generic brands with next to no information at all)

• Scotch rubber adhesive

UHU is the brand with the most variety here. Elmer's doesn't sell their rubber cement in my country. I also managed to find a local guy who is willing to sell me his personal mixture but for a very high price so I really hope I can explore other options as I'm simply just trying to adjust some cosplay ears.

Renovation of stool with black latex - ONE OF A KIND – a single, unique project.

Hello again!

Would like to share new project - that I did.

Received a wood stool - which need a some kind of renovation and refurbishment.

1.Paint was sanded then covered with RAL 9005 (piano black).

2.Used a little sheet of chair foam - to cover the seat. Not so thick to prevent latex curling, rolling. It creates some soft layer between wood and latex sheet.

3.Covered by european latex sheet 0.4 mm - black.

4.Made a finishing detail: contrasting white border emphasizing the seat line.

It combines a classic wooden structure with a unique natural latex finish. The deep black, varied surface gloss, and contrasting white detailing give the entire piece a distinctive, individual character.

I like it so much! Hope you enjoy it.

P.S. Wanted to make a graphics on top side - from oracal 451 banner vinyl - but it's not recommended - just gave up because it will tear or roll. Only option to cut from thin latex (0.25 mm) and glue to top side? Is possible to cut 0.25 latex with plotter (cutting machine)?

Please follow my profile or social medias.

They've clearly printed this on the latex after it was cut and glued, not on the sheet... HOW

Getting started in latex crafts, UK

Looking to get started, I've been looking into buying the stuff i need, some sheets and trim, adhesive, solvent and talc.

Open to any pointers on where to get any of it in UK and a decent price but I'm really struggling to find talc??? Everything that comes up is just talc free baby/body powder haha 😅

Also looking for clarification on what to use to rubberise zips, liquid latex, but are there different kinds? Is the stuff you would use for prosthetics suitable?

Thanks in advance guys, been browsing this subreddit for a few days now and everything I've seen is really inspiring and has really encouraged me to give this a go!

How do I? Inflatable rubber cube.

I need to manufacture a rubber bladder to fill a water proof bag of dimension 30cm x 20cm x 25cm . The rubber needs to thick to be able to support weight so am thinking this will not be one single chamber but 4 or 6 interconnected chambers. Where can I find a good tutorial on how to handle/shape edges (especially corners) when cutting parts. Also I understand I need to buy some tools and special glues - where best from in Europe? I also need an inflator with a release valve.

How do I? How do I go about adjusting these latex ears?

These ears I bought have holes that are too high up and slightly too big. I'd like to move the hole downwards as circled in the 3rd photo to achieve my desired look. How should I go about doing this? I wanted to ask the latex experts.

How close in shade are 4D’s and Radical Rubber’s whites?

I ordered a bolero from Westward bound that will have white trim. I know they use 4D latex. I want to make a skirt that will have white trim--and I have 3 yards of Radical Rubber's white to use. I'd really rather not order more white, so I'm wondering how close in shade the two are? I'm hoping given the distance between the bolero and skirt that any minor differences would not be noticeable. Thanks.

P.S. I unfortunately need to start on the skirt soon so that I'll have time to finish it. Thus, I can't wait for the Westward bound outfit to arrive to compare and contrast.
