First time getting Astro shots. Sony a6300 - Sony 15mm 1.4 iso 3200 with exposure around 8 seconds

Went to South Africa for my honeymoon and took some night sky pics of our “tent” and across the lake.
The Milky Way is located behind the tent and two non-spiral galaxies: the Large and Small Magellanic Clouds are across from the Milky Way - across the lake and only visible in the southern hemisphere!
(Taken on Nikon d610, 14-24mm f2.8, exp time 30s, ISO varies by photo 800-10159)

Single exposure. Sony A7 III Sigma 14mm 1.4 ISO 2500 5 seconds @1.4
18th of June 2025 @00:01 Mid season shot of the southern hemisphere’s view of the Milky Way. Lake Wānaka, New Zealand.
Had taken multiple shots, and tried stacking but was never happy with the result. May try again, just to get the trunk and foreground in focus.

Captured on Nikon Z6a + Sigma ART 40mm F1.4 + Asterra Z+ Star tracker
SETTINGS:
Tracked/Blended/Focus Stacked FG
Sky: 30s F2.2 ISO3200
FG: 90s F2.5 ISO 5000 (x2 for focus stacking)
I wasn’t even planning on capturing this image, but while waiting for another composition I realised this shot would be possible and couldn’t help myself but to shoot it. This night was super calm, giving me some absolutely perfect reflections in the lake, unlike anything I’ve ever seen before. There was a very small window in the night when the alignment would work, giving me about 5 minutes to create the image, ensuring the cluster would be centred above the mountain.
Matariki is a significant cluster all around the world, but particularly here in Aotearoa, its rising in mid-winter signals the beginning of the Māori New Year. It’s celebrated as a time to connect with friends and family, share kai (food) and set goals for the future.
NO AI was used in the creation of this image.

Re edited some first Astro landscape photos. I can’t tell if the red and green banding is an editing/camera issue or if it’s a very faint Aurora.
Nikon D200, Vivitar 28mm 2.8. 30s exposure at iso 2500. Newfoundland, Canada.

Adobe noise correction
I loved shooting aurora, but I missed having the visual impact of stars that a fog filter provides. I had Claude create a program that would identify stars in a photo, then add a fog effect based on actual star brightness. I'm still trying to gauge how aesthetically beneficial it is, and how much it registers on the cheatometer. Unfogged photo included for comparison.

I hope that I’m not missing any rules. I’m very new to any sort of astro photography but not photography in general. The tracked image was taken with a Nikon D200, Vivitar 28mm 2.8 lens, and micnova gps unit and remote. Exposure time was 30 seconds (a little too long) at f2.8, iso 2500. Edited in Lightroom with adjustments to contrast, shadows, white balance, noise reduction, and likely things I’m forgetting.
I know the 500 rule, I just ignored it. I should have shortened the exposure time.
Am I limited by the D200s iso range and low light capabilities?
Where is the red and green colouration coming from?
How should I edit to maximize my camera’s capabilities?
I’m in Newfoundland, Canada if that helps with anything.

oriontimelapse-PXL_20261008_193155527.NIGHT___PXL_20261009_041730637.NIGHT
Tried to do a timelapse 2 days ago (8-9th October 2026) where Orion comes through the frame.
Orion enters the frame on the bottom left (13-14 seconds into the video) and leaves on the top right close to the end of the video
I just used my phone with autoclicker, and tripod

Forgot to charge the tracker, thus I had to go back to some oldschool stacking of untracked Exposures:
Nikon Z7a with Viltrox 16 1.8.
Sky: 30 x 20s @ ISO 6400 f2.2.
Foreground: 118 s @ ISO 1600
