Lawhub PT Recency

When taking PTs on Lawhub, I have consistently scored mid-high 170s on PTs 120-130, but I have found PTs 150-159 WAY harder and my scores are on average 5 points lower than the other PTs.

Is it true that PTs 150-159 contain more recent material that is more representative of the LSAT today? If that's the case things are looking problematic for me as I've already taken PTs 152-159 and my scores are a lot less encouraging than the earlier PTs.

I take my first actual attempt this November, and I was wondering if anyone who's already taken the LSAT thinks PTs 150+ are more representative of the exam.

Yes the 150s PTs are harder and more representative of the modern day exams

Definitely more representative of the real exam. Took it in April, August, and October of this year and felt like LR was even more trickier and wordier than PTs 150-159. But don’t let it discourage you, it’s all the same thought patterns. Just gotta pay more attention to subtle details.

they definitely changed something with the wording in those later PTs, I noticed same thing when I did them. the logic is still the logic but the way they write the prompts feels more... slippery somehow

you already did all the 150s so you know what to expect, just keep drilling the ones that gave you trouble and trust the process for November

I feel the same way!!! It’s crazy. I’ve dropped a few points since doing the PTs in the 150-159 range

Yes, I think it's something that isn't talked about enough. The 100-120 PTs are not even really the same test as the 150s. They are so much easier. It is a mistake to think you have established a PT range until you start working in the 140s-150s, imo.

Pts 150-155 are the most recently written material - PT 155 was first administered November 2019.

Pts 156-159 are more recently administered (in the 2020s), but they are re-uses of older material from the early 2010s, closer to PTs in the 130s.

Make of that what you will. I do think 150-155 are hard, but I think the impression that 156-159 are from the same era when they aren't indicates that the differences are overstated.

I’ve been in the business since forever.

We all know that LSAT prep companies analyze previous LSAT tests to develop their curriculum. I’m convinced that the LSAT analyzes what prep courses are doing to adjust their tests.

So they’re not more difficult, but they are different enough from a lot of curriculum that they look more challenging.
