In LN 15, Jinshi said he’d rather let go of Maomao than make her his consort. If it happens, do you think Maomao will just accept and move on with her life?

I mean, I can’t imagine what else she can do if Jinshi decides that’s it, but Maomao being the clever girl she is…

I do not hope for it to happen as it will be a terrible path for Jinshi (with all his attempts to get out of the royal line), but I feel like it’d be an interesting (and angsty) arc for the both of them. Especially curious to know how Maomao will react to it, because it’d be a perfect way for her to show that she cares for him as much as he does—that her lukewarm feelings can eventually catch up with the heat similar to that of Jinshi’s.

Ukyou in the anime was not what I expected. As a bodyguard/head manservant of Verdigris House, I was fully expecting him to be a bigger, burly character........ perhaps like an older version of Lihaku.

So Maomao's love langauge have been something talk about before and analyse pretty widly in the fandom but there soemthing i saw that no one seem to brougth up so here it is.

How Maomao act when she love (in any type of having affection toward) someone is directly tied to how Luomen tend to act.

Let's recap real quick.

Maomao is normaly a somewhat distant person who does not like to lend favour to other. If a situation can be use to her advantage she will almost certaintly make sure it does benefit her. On the opposite side if a situation have no real benefit to her she will mostly ignore it. So basicly she need something to "win" and doesn't like give her time, ressource and expertise away for free.

But, if Maomao start caring about someoen else she's going to slowly "bend" those "laws".

She'll help that person if asked.
She'll worry about their heath and well being.
She'll go out of her way to help them even if she has nothing to win.

She'll become slowly more selfless toward that person, just like Luomen is.

We've been told mutiple time how much this physician seem to care for other to much for his own good, and as much as Maomao might despise that, she'll also put herself in danger in order to care for the ones she love.

Around people she love, Maomao act like her father.
Like the man that raise her and taught her what love was.

Isn't that beautiful ?

Here’s a question that maybe the LN’s will answer that the anime leaves out:
Why does Louman not pay rent for the property that MaoMao and Chou-u live in? I would think that Louman would have enough dough to cover for it since he is a palace doctor. It seems the Anime portrays that MaoMao exclusively pays the bills.

I'm in LN11 and I genuinely can't remember Maomao amputating someone's arm? Like, it tracks with her abilities and shenanigans but I can't recall who or when.

Could someone remind me?

I feel like I’m misunderstanding something but I watched the two newest episodes of the show and then decided to read the manga so I’m back near the beginning and made it to the garden party. Maomao is explaining that Kanan switched the jellyfish dish with the mackerel one to bully Lishu. My question is why would Kanan switch the soup as well? It doesn’t make sense why she would swap every dish when there is no mention of the soup also being something that Lishu dislikes. Why not just switch the one dish?

Spoiler:

Three factions...one favours gyokuyou. One wants jinhsi as emperor to avoid foreign influence in imperial line. And third one is neutral guy LAKAN.

Situation 1: emperor lives healthy...but he doesn't grant jinhsi any name(removing him from imperial family) he must remain as a failsafe even though Gyokuyou's son is crown prince.

How it'll affect the story of maomao and jinhsi.

[ Lakan choosing Gyokuyou's side wouldn't make much of difference for jinshi and maomao ] cause the succession responsibility is still there...and surely he can't wait 15 years for Gyokuyou's son to ascend before his gets himself out of line.

Situation 2: some Wants anshi's son to ascend to throne.

This is SECOND WORST case for jisnhi and maomao....he will let her go if he becomes emperor.

Now this time LAKAN choosing a side can make a difference...like opposes jinshi as emperor or favours Gyokuyou's son will change it entirely. If he favours anshi's faction it's done and dusted for jisnhi and maomao. And if lakan opposes then there's some hope

Even in this case it's hard for jinshi to get out of succession line until emperor's kids comes of age.

And there are cases like emperor dies...then there's no one else to ascend Except jinshi. He can't avoid it ( a nightmare for jinhsi and maomao)

And as I said the WORST CASE he jinhsi actual parental secret gets out. Now He literally can't avoid it.

Well in any case I can't see jinshi getting out of imperial line whether he is considered a successor or not.
