What exactly is happening here?

I think this was the 2nd time this happened until this point and I think even throughout the series (at least until latest webtoon chap). Does she go to the afterlife and Agni brings here back as long as she has an attachment to life? Or is it smth else?

Also if I remember correctly Chandra said smth about Yama being angry or smth, why is that? Is it because he feels like he shouldn't give Agni's betrothed special treatment? or maybe for another reason?

P.S: I'm caught up to the webtoon btw don't worry about spoilers, Also I didn't include the pic where he asks here if she remembers anything as reddit filters flag it as nsfw and therefore deletes it as nsfw is against sub rules

Bruh I wrote a wall of text in the previous post and you just deleted it 😭

Anyway I am pasting it again

For Yama, maintaining the order of afterlife is extremely important. Not only due to his sense of justice, but because breaking the order of afterlife allows the other 5th zen god of Death, Kali, to interfere.

On top of that, Agni literally killed Yama when he was de-summoned in S1 to hijack his authority and extend Brilith's lifespan that was running out.

Does she go to the afterlife and Agni brings here back as long as she has an attachment to life?

Think Agni was actually escorting her to Paradise, which somehow requires to have a life devoid of sin and to not have any lingering regrets. It was the same thing in the extra story about the Fiendish magician- Yama was really particular about him not having regrets, regardless of his rather wholesome life.

If also fits because we later learn that going to Paradise is one of OG Brilith's biggest dreams, so Agni being willing to let her go only for that makes sense.

So yeah Agni is again usurping Yama's authority big time in that scene, both passing judgement and bringing her back

My bad I tried posting this many times but gets deleted only when I posted pics in the comments did I know which pic was the reason so didn't include it now 🥲🥲

Ok but then how did Yama get reincarnated very fast? Shouldn't it take decades? but the story only progressed like 7 years, not even a decade.

So this is why he always tries to make her not remember anything or rather "awaken" so that when she dies she goes to paradise? Then whenever he is asking her he is actually hoping she forgets not that she remembers?

Also by letting her go you mean he will only break the betrothal if she is going to paradise?

Reincarnation speed is heavily influenced by the dimension the god dies in. The only reason the god realm isn't overrun by the nastikas is that gods that die there reincarnate instantly, making it basically impossible for the nastikas to win a prolonged fight in there.

So this is why he always tries to make her not remember anything or rather "awaken" so that when she dies she goes to paradise? Then whever he is asking her he is actually hoping she forgets not that she remembers?

Actually spot on

Also by letting her go you mean he will only break the betrothal if she is going to paradise?

I wouldn't think the betrothal breaks on accessing paradise, at least not back then when Agni could still access it. But honestly it could be, since Paradise seems to exist outside of the universe, so it's not impossible that the betrothal would be voided.

No, i meant that he will only break the betrothal when she is guaranteed paradise, also for example in the scene here id she remembered nothing and he let her go would she have gone to paradise

I mean, plausible?

I don't think Agni would break his betrothal unless he has to. But since a betrothed carries part of the god's name, and a god must remain in the universe, maybe it's fundamentally impossible for a god to remain betrothed to someone permanently residing in Paradise.

There's also a different version, where there's no problems with a betrothed staying in Paradise, as long as the god also can access it.

I think the latter makes more sense, since Agni gave up Paradise as a penalty to use a transcendental under the eyes of Tarakafied Shakuntala. We got an explanation about the penalties regarding breaking the rules through the power of Kali, and what Asura highlighted is that what you give up is "the best future". It's plausible that the best future for Agni is Brilith being able to access Paradise without breaking their betrothal, and now that's no longer possible.

Yeah, I think is actually a good theory and makes a lot of sense Agni giving up his best future I mean.

From how I see it, he is about to escort her into the afterlife, I think right now they are probably in the mental world.  But he stops once he realises she still wants to live and he heals her up.

I always assumed Yama was mad at Agni because Agni was meant to stay in the gods realm longer after he “dies” but he fights Yama and wins to escape early so Brilith could summon him.
