Hi everyone! I’m planning to buy a 1-ton split AC for a small bedroom (roughly 10 × 12 feet), and I’m honestly quite confused about which brand and model to go with.

My budget is around 35k to 37k, and I’m looking for something reliable that will last for several years. I live in Kerala, so humidity is also a factor.

I probably won’t be using the AC very frequently. It would mainly be during the summer months, and otherwise, usage would be relatively low.

I have a few questions:

1. 3-star vs. 5-star: Given my relatively low usage, would a 3-star inverter AC make more financial sense, or should I spend extra on a 5-star model? Is the electricity savings worth the price difference in my case? I visited a store today, they were pushing for 3 star.
2. Brand reliability: I’m currently confused between Haier, Blue Star, Hitachi and Daikin. Which of these would you recommend for long-term reliability, cooling performance and after-sales service in India, particularly Kerala?
3. Hitachi features: The salesperson was pushing Hitachi, highlighting features such as self-cleaning and four-way swing and 5 year compehrehensive coverage on everything. But I am not sure about the brand per say.
4. Daikin: I’ve heard good things about Daikin, but it seems to be on the more premium side, therefore cant afford presently.
5. Warranty and maintenance: Which brand offers better PCB warranty, compressor warranty and after-sales service? I want to avoid expensive repairs down the line.

I’m not particularly concerned about having lots of smart features. My main priorities are reliability, decent energy efficiency, good cooling and hassle free maintenance.

Would really appreciate hearing from people who have owned these brands for a few years, especially in humid weather. if you were buying a 1-ton AC under 35 to 37k today, which one would you choose, and why?
