Team member post Second Training Shift

• Upvotes

Hi, I had my first training shift on Monday doing online modules but didn't get it all done so they told me to come back in on Saturday afternoon to finish the modules, I've been expecting it to appear on my roster but it hasn't, should I just go in anyway? I was told it would be a three-hour shift and to wear the uniform I got the first training session. Should I contact them? I'm just a bit confused by the whole thing.

Team member post When will things start to take place?

I got hired for the holiday casual role on the 3rd of september, and my contract officially started on the 14th. After that I had to wait for them to contact me about when my first shift would be but they never said anything, so two weeks after my contract start date I called the store then later that day got a message from my manager telling me to come in that Thursday (I called on a monday) During this shift I just sat in an office doing the online modules. I didnt receive uniform or anything sort of induction like I was told was going to be my first shift. At the end the lady who was directing me came in and said she would organise a time for me to come in next week and be trained on registers. This was two weeks ago. I hadn’t heard anything from anyone so I messaged my manager the following Tuesday, she said she would let me know on Friday, I didnt hear anything on Friday so I reached out, didn’t hear anything back, messaged again on Monday to which she explained that there is a 3 week roster so shes just waiting for someone to cancel, then the next day offered me a shift for Sunday.

Its been a month since i’ve been hired and I still don’t have uniform and haven’t even worked a shift. Am I valid to be confused or is this normal for this role? What can I expect from now on?

Customer post Do issues normally take +6 weeks to still be unresolved?

Hey gang, I raised an issue with Kmart online support 6-7 weeks ago, and have followed up with them multiple times - during which Kmart support have insisted they would be in touch:

  1. within 3-5 days (which was missed), then
  2. another 3-5 days (which also elapsed), then
  3. 24-48 hours (which also went by), then
  4. another 24-48 hours (which has also gone by), then
  5. no definite timeline - but a week has gone by without a follow up.

Been a while since I needed to raise an issue about a product with a business, so...is this where the bar just is now? Or is Kmart particularly bad?

Team member post Average holiday casual shifts?

My friend was recently hired as a holiday casual, she doesn't know much about their rostering system so I thought I'd ask here. She's been put on sequence and so far been given shifts Monday to Friday for the foreseeable future. But there are people at her workplace who've been there for years, doing the same sequence shift, that only get rostered once a week, even going into the busy season. I'm wondering if she'll get less shifts as the weeks go on, like maybe they're just trying to get her familiar with the store really quickly and then it will calm down? Or if they just generally give more shifts to the holiday casuals?

Bought this electric cat teaser wand for my kitty, and within 5 minutes of it being turned on the cover has almost fallen off, is it meant to sit tighter around the middle?

1st photo is with the locking plate off, second is on.

It seems really loose to me?

Thank you

Customer post Hexclad dupe cookware

What's are they like. I'm done with buying expensive frypans. They just don't last.

https://www.kmart.com.au/product/32cm-stainless-steel-tri-ply-honeycomb-frypan-43633326/

The last cheap one we bought was from BIGDUB and it's lasted a couple of years for like $15. Prior to that we bought analon and it lasted about 6 months before it lost it's non stickness.

The BIGDUB one has now bowed at the bottom so it's time to replace it and i thought i'd try these hexcladish pans if there is some decent recommendations.

Customer post faulty item

Hi guys! So, I bought an Anko product that is meant to heat up, but unfortunately, after trying multiple times, it didn’t work. A friend had recommended it, so I even asked her how to charge it (thinking I was just using it wrong). After she explained, I still had no luck; the product is definitely faulty.

I paid in cash and didn’t scan Flybuys, so I don't have a traditional proof of purchase. Normally I would just take the L, but after reading Kmart’s policy, it clearly states that if an Anko or OXX item is faulty, proof of purchase isn't strictly required. While I wouldn't be eligible for a cash refund under that specific clause, I should have been issued a gift voucher for the amount.

I went into Kmart, but the manager refused to give me even a voucher, claiming she wouldn't do it without a receipt, despite me showing her the policy online. Other staff members looked confused about how she was planning to bypass official company policy, but she wouldn’t budge and straight up said she didn’t care about it.

Following that, I emailed Kmart customer service to explain the situation. They were super nice and actually went a step further, offering me a full cash refund instead of just a voucher, and told me to head into my nearest store to process it.

So, I went back into Kmart for a second time, armed with both the email and the official policy. I spoke to a different manager, who also refused to follow the company policy and declined to help without a receipt. She told me to take it to a completely different Kmart, but made it clear it wasn't happening at her store.

I am so confused about what is going on. Working in retail myself, we are held strictly accountable to company policy, so it blows my mind that store managers are just ignoring official guidelines and customer service directives like this. Has anyone dealt with something similar?

Team member post how do i know when i should speak to my managers!

If you are a team member, who was having whatever physical/mental health issues at this moment in time, how do you know when you should go to a manager to keep them in the know. i’m honestly not doing as well as i should be in my area, and ive had to go home sick or call out of shifts entirely.

i’m not close with my managers at all, we are friendly as everyone at my store is. it’s, for me, a level of vulnerability i’m uncomfortable with but obviously it’s started affecting how well i can do my job! i don’t want to lose my contract/hours (part-time) because im not gonna suck forever yk.

i’m basically asking every question there is about this situation!
how do you know when to speak to your manager?
is this something you even go to your manager about?
if so, how do you even bring that up, or word that kind of statement or is there another way you are supposed to go about this?

also would a manager have a conversation with you, or like tell you “get your head in the game or i’m gonna have to..” or would they just do it?

this might seem stupid, i’m young and this is my first job and i don’t have anyone in my life i can ask so thanks!

Team member post Beeping IPods/PDT question

Hey guys, employee of another Wesfarmers company that uses (I assume) the same or similar Zebra devices you guys use.

Yesterday while in store I saw a TM using another device along with the Zebra that was beeping at different times/items as she scanned the racks of clothes. Then at one point it beeped and she picked the item and added it to her pile.

What is that? Is it helping located items for online? Security tagging? Counting for stocktake?? What’s the go?

Customer post Paintbrush washer overfilling

Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification

I'm not sure where to write this post tbh but I literally bought this a bit over an hour ago and just tested it out when I noticed it was ever so slowly continuing to fill past the gaps and turning into a puddle. I don't really know what to do about it but I've noticed it stops over filling when it gets to a certain point of almost empty. I put tape around the lid because i saw small air bubbles coming in but it didn't really do anything. Any advice?

Edit: I found a solution. Just needed to put blu tack around the lid to cut off any air. Now it works perfectly lmao

Team member post incorrect pay

I recently statarted as a casual and when I was checking my payslip earlier I only got paid for 8 hours. However, I worked a shift from 12pm to 4pm which was my induction, and then 9am to 2pm with a 15 minute break two days after. The total should be 9 hours but my payslip only shows 8. Even on the UKG app for some reason it says I only worked 8 hours, 4 hours from 12pm to 4pm, and 4 hours from 9am to 2pm. I know its only one hour and I am still new, I don't want to cause anything between the manager and I but do I just go up to any manager? Is the process of getting it fixed quick?

Customer post Can I return a Kmart Marketplace item sold by Officeworks in-store?

Hi everyone!

I bought a drink bottle through Kmart Marketplace, but it was sold by Officeworks.

I changed my mind and would like to return it.

Has anyone purchased an Officeworks item through Kmart Marketplace and successfully returned it to an Officeworks store?

Or do I have to arrange the return online and send it by post?

I'd really appreciate hearing from anyone who's been in the same situation. Thanks!

Customer post Chermside store never has signal

Every time I visit chermside, there is never any signal so if I need to transfer money, I would need to leave my items at the checkouts, race to the exit, quickly transfer and then run back.

Anyone know why chermside never has signal?

Team member post Am I still getting hired?

Hi guys,

I recently had an interview for Kmart on the 2nd of October (1 and bit-ish weeks ago) and the start of the following week (3 days later) I got my rights to work email. I completed it immediately as I was very eager but now 7 days have passed with no follow-up. The thing that makes me confused is that he said I’ll hear back by the end of the next week but I never did, and I thought getting rights to work check was pretty much a confirmation of the job.

Does anyone have any experiences with this or know what I should do? Thanks a lot!

edit: I called in the store and the manager that interviewed me told I should have my job offer in 2-3 days. Nothing to worry about
