I think wheel is one of the most likely to come back is such a natural fit to how open the levels look, being able to go with wheel sounds fun

I think Wheel has a strong chance if the game is single player. Same with Jet. Traversal with a speedy ability is almost a necessity with the open ended design of this game.
Unfortunately, as a Beam fan, I think it's a 50/50 at best. For some reason, Hal has never tried to adapt it into 3D despite appearing in pretty much all 2D games in some capacity. I guess it's just hard to adapt, but I remember someone suggesting that it could be used as a grapple-based ability for traversing long gaps or swinging around, so there may still be hope.

I'd probably move Needle down a tier and Ninja up a tier, but this list seems pretty similar to what I was thinking for abilities.

I feel beast is as likely as drill they occupy the same gimmick but beast is more marketable for merch

I can see Wheel, Jet, and Mirror maybe being able to get in (Wheel and Mirror more than Jet ngl). Spark and Plasma are kind of interchangeable at this point, so it could be either one.

wheel would be so peak, and animal would honestly fit so well into 3d exploration
