[2026-10-11] - [Stocking Stuffer Sunday] – Fun Keto Victories

Hello r/keto!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

When you are a kid, the big present under the tree was ALL THAT MATTERED!!!! It captivated our imagination for hours upon hours. Is it a new Big Wheel? A huge train set? Maybe even a new bicycle that we can put together. Christmas day, we attacked that present like that bear would attack those 100 dudes--with total carnage. At the same time, pinned to the mantle/wall was the stocking. When you are 6 years old, the stocking is at best an after thought. Typically it was socks and underwear and IT'S CHRISTMAS SO WHY IS SANTA GIVING ME SOCKS AND UNDERWEAR!!!!!!!

Jump skip to today. As an adult, the stocking stuffer is an AWESOME present!!! Oh, it's still socks and underwear, but at some point, socks and underwear became an awesome present. Welcome to being an adult. I'm so old Geritol is about to be my stocking stuffer. FREEDOM!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

We have created this super duper thread so we can all share our "fun" victories this week. NOT the big scale victories, but the fun little victories. Why do we need to share these victories? Because pretty soon, you will learn that the small victories--the stocking stuffer victories--are the ones that keep you fired up.

Every Sunday. A chance for you to shout above the rooftops of the world the things that improved for you this week by eating a ketogenic diet.

If you're new to r/keto and need some info, start with Keto in a Nutshell and the FAQ. Or, if you have a question that doesn't seem to be covered, head on over to the Community Support thread (pinned to the top of the subreddit) and ask the community!

Anyone else experience increased motivation on keto or am I just weird?

Hi keto fam! This is a really weird one but I'm curious to find out if anyone else has experienced this as I don't think it's something I've seen discussed much on this thread. I've been on keto for a few months. First 2 weeks were absolute torture but after that, my world completely changed. Every aspect of my life improved practically 100%. I started keto to lose weight, but was shocked when the diet reversed my clinical depression, anxiety, panic attacks and suicidal thoughts. I also suffered with halitosis, body odor, chronic fatigue, brain fog, nighttime bruxism and oral thrush - six weeks into keto, all of it was gone completely.

But the most shocking change has been to my motivation. I've always known myself to be extremely lazy. I hate work of any kind, whether I have to exert myself physically or mentally. About a month into keto and suddenly I'm the most organized, ambitious, hardworking person I know. I have a to do list and ticking off the tasks actually excites me. I suddenly enjoy applying my mind. I get through my chores effortlessly. I'm actually excited to experience the feeling of accomplishment that comes with completing a task - even if it's something as simple as cleaning my house. I think better, I breathe better, I look better, I feel better, EVERYTHING is just better!!

At this rate, I think that I just might have what it takesl to pursue and achieve my life long dream of writing and publishing books for a living - something I gave up on a while ago because it just seemed too far out of reach. Thanks to keto, I now believe that nothing is impossible.

I'm fascinated by this as I had no idea that a diet high in carbs and processed foods could cause laziness, decreased motivation, etc. I was literally the laziest person ever but now I enjoy working hard to improve my life. My only regret is that I didn't discover keto sooner. I believe if I had, my life would be completely different (I would have achieved success) and I would be so far in life.

I had previously maintained a ketogenic lifestyle from November 2018 through sometime in mid 2025 for autoimmune issues and weight loss. I successfully lost half of my body weight (143 lbs) but by the beginning of 2025, I was losing too much muscle mass, as well & not only could not stop losing weight but became very skeletal. I began integrating more protein into my diet & increased carbs from natural sources to 75 to 90 g daily. While most of the autoimmune issues are controlled, I have regained ~40lbs and seem to slowly continue upward. I am seeking guidance on getting back into ketosis and muscle maintenance for stability and potentially 20 lbs fat loss. Middle ground & to feel better overall here in midlife. I did the calculator & it suggests 25g net carbs, I increased protein to 75g & then recommended 109g healthy fats. Would this be a good goal?

Long-term Ketoers, how many hours do you sleep daily?

This question is posed for people who have been adapted for a long time. I’m asking this question just for curiosity sake. Do you function alright during the day? Or do you take short naps? Lets have a discussion.

Help Day 3 keto. Diarrhea.

Hey everyone.

Okay so let me start by sayjng I am a newly diagnosed type 2 diabetic. Im on extended release metformin as well.

I will admit when I was diagnosed type 2 it hit me really hard and I did the avoidance thing for about a month.

But I dont want to lose my toes or go blind or worse. So I have to get myself under control.

For the past 3 days ive been very strict keto. Yesterday was chicken with avocado and cheese.

The day before was air fried tilapia and steamed broccoli.

Today was a tuna packet with mayo and some ham slices with cheese. Im basically sticking to meat and veggies.

I haven't added a bunch of fat. I also have to mix up some ketoaid today.

I know from experience when I eat carbs the metformin I take makes me suffer almost instant consequences.

But this isnt like that. Its just water poops.

I do have some psylium husk fiber powder that I drink now and then. But if I dont time it right it can interfere with medication absorption.

So is there something I can do to stop the waterfall? I tried adding fiber but raw veggies give me such a stomach ache.

Thanks.

Help Spouses.

Anyone else have a spouse or partner who isn’t keto or low carb? I’ve been trying to go keto for a while but keep getting derailed. My husband is naturally thin and healthy and can eat anything he wants to. He also does most of the cooking and likes us to eat together, especially for dinner.

How can I stick to keto and still enjoy meals with him?

Food and Recipes Anyone from Winnipeg?

Peg’s Bistro Stir Fry House has a DELICIOUS dish. It’s zucchini noodles with your choose of veggies and protein. Keto sauce. I had shrimp and crab with broccoli at a 3 spice which is just a tad above my comfort spice (gerd issues. Otherwise I would’ve been a 10). Highly recommend.

Considering keto for anxiety, panic attacks, and adrenaline dumps

Would anyone like to share their experience with this?

I've done very brief stints of keto in the past to get myself out of bad migraine flares, and it worked very well. It also did make me feel calmer/steadier. But, I was not struggling with the "high adrenaline" feelings I'm struggling with now. There's always the chance it could make it worse. Has anyone seen improvement in these specific, fight-or-flight feelings?

Need support, sodium potassium

Ok, so I know the answer to the question is always do you know how much sodium and potassium you are taking ... I lost 150lb a few years ago regained 70 and have struggled to feel better. I did keto for a full year and didn't have an issue where I needed to track either. I salt and no salt my meals, but this time around, the worse I feel the more junk keto I eat. I never feel more energetic and more food doesn't help.

So, now going to start with sodium and magnesium tracking.

My main question is, how much in one meal is safe. 3-5 grams of each is a lot. I make isopure shakes which don't really have enough of either so I'm going to up my morning dose and if tracking well, my dinner will have the remaining.

Thoughts? I'm hoping this is it. I'm tired.

Breakfast choices

My go to breakfast has been eggs snd bacon since I‘ve started keto. I saw recently that bacon is a carcinogen supposedly increasing cancer risk. Idk what else I would have with my eggs to get to my goal of 30g protein. Sometimes I have avocado. Any suggestions?

Help Bloating

Ive been eating keto for the past week and a half and if anything I feel MORE inflamed. I don’t like to weigh myself but my pants feel tighter and my stomach feels crampier. I am constipated and bloated and I’m not really sure what to do. Does anyone have any advice?

For reference, I’ve been drinking 96oz daily w one serving electrolytes, the rest of my water with added salt. I dont eat the fake keto foods like keto bread etc only protein and veg. The veggies i eat are cruciferous (brussels broccoli etc) but I’ve been tracking my fiber and it’s really not all that much.

Would appreciate any and all guidance. I’ve experienced some great benefits from keto so far but this is making it hard to stick to 🥴

Thanks!

Help Signs point to increased ketosis, but keto mojo says lowered ketones.

I have been keto for 6m for treatment of psych issues. I finally used a keto mojo device and tested my ketones a few weeks ago and found my ketones were low (0.8) and glucose was high (4.5+).

Therapeutic ketosis is recommended to have ketones at between 1.5-3mm/l so I decided to switch down from 30g net carbs daily to 15-20g. I've been diligent for a couple of days.

Today, I can feel heat in my body that doesn't happen out of ketosis. My pee smells, indicating deeper ketosis. But I tested 3hrs after my last post-dinner snack and the ketomojo says I'm OUT of ketosis at 0.4mm/l. However my glucose is 5.1 which is concerning and high.

I am a short person who eats about 2500 calories a day. I know it's a lot but I get HUNGRY. I could eat even more but I try to keep it to an 8hr window. I don't know why I'm so hungry. I ate about 1,000 calories less when I started 6m ago. But I haven't gained weight, instead I've lost a bit.

I don't know what to do.

Tips and Tricks Keto and gallbladder

Hello. I will be getting my gallbladder removed in a few weeks. I'm curious about other people who have been through this and maintain the keto lifestyle. My doctor recommended a low protein low fat diet to not aggravate my gallbladder and after surgery. But eventually I should be able to go back to normal.

Interval fasting and keto

Hey all,

in April 2026 i started keto with about 100kg (female, 23y, 180cm) and in June 2026 i was at like 92kg. Since then i have a plateau around 92-94kg and i just can’t make it below. i tried adjusting my carbs, protein and fat but i never did it below 91kg so far. I thought about having insulin resistance and came across interval fasting.

Now since 3-4 days i tried interval fasting (16:8) and still combining it with keto. I started with 94kg more less and i am now at 92,3kg. Do you think i can make it to loose further 10kg with that? I am a bit concerned because i have the feeling that i can’t stuck to this rhythm forever - because i get hungry easily. And with fasting i am more hungry than just with keto 2-3 meals per day where i can choose. Do I have just to get used to it or do you guys have any tips to adapt? I’m also taking apple vinegar or broth inbetween fasting. I’m trying to keep my fat low (around 60/70g) and protein high (around 140-160g), carbs around 15-25g

thanks!

Food and Recipes Any favourite recipes for Souper cube-ing? (i.e. for portion-control freezing/modular food freezing)

I recently bought Souper Cube trays on a whim on Amazon prime day since it was 20% off.

For those unfamiliar, Souper cubing is a concept of freezing meals in silicone molds with built-in measurement lines (like 1-cup blocks). Once frozen, you pop the solid "bricks" out and stack them in a freezer bag. Freezing food is obviously not a new concept but it's "trendy" because It doesn't trap your Tupperware in the freezer, saves massive space by stacking like bricks, and lets you defrost exact, single-serving macros in minutes.

I watched Life by Mike G's video on it and liked his way of using a Decision Roulette to determine a protein "cube", veggie "cube", and a starch "cube". And that would be your meal for that moment (and apparently can take about 7 minutes to reheat). Could be a more interesting way to have a different-ish meal every day.

Just looking for some inspiration to get started with some recipes that freeze well.

Help Oat fibre and egg to bind keto meatloaf?

Has anyone tried using oat fibre and egg as meatloaf binder? I'm having some difficulty getting my meatloaf to stay together without crumbling. I'd appreciate if someone can direct me how to make successful meatloaf.

Electrolytes

I’m afraid to stop using electrolyte mix packets (I know, I know- I can just make my own), but I’m 19 weeks in now and just want to know from those more experienced if my body has adapted yet? Anyone just drinking plain water throughout the day and feeling good?

Forcing Myself to Eat

I’ve been on strict keto for about a month. Have lost around 7 pounds. Goal is only 20 pounds as I am not significantly overweight. Has anyone experienced a complete lack of desire to eat? Especially daytimes. I rarely eat breakfast and have to force myself to eat lunch because I know I need to eat something. Just no urgency to eat at all.
Another note, my IBS has completely disappeared. My gastrointestinal system used to be very unpredictable. Now there is no reflux, bloating, gas, pain, diahrea, etc. This diet is completely changing my body (and mind apparently).

Help Does anyone here have Long Covid? Did Keto help?

Hi everyone, I’ve been researching keto and am planning to try the diet after reading about its potential effects on mitochondrial health and inflammation.

I’ve had Long COVID for the past two years. One thing that helped me, although I couldn’t stick with it, was tirzepatide. It worsened my POTS symptoms, but it really helped with my neuroinflammation, my brain fog disappeared and I could think much more clearly.

I recently came across a comment from someone who said that, in terms of inflammation, they felt similar on tirzepatide as they did on keto. That made me curious to try it.

Has anyone here had any anecdotal experiences with keto, especially related to Long COVID, neuro-inflammation?

Healthy Fats

I didn't realise keto wasn't just low carbs and high protein, but also loads of healthy fats, so I started adding olive oil, avocado oil etc to my coffee, smoothies and shakes, and I'm going to try MCT too.

Just wondering how much other people focus on fats e.g. oils, lard, tallow, butter etc? How do you find it?

Heylo seeded bread

Hi all, has anyone used Heylo seeded bread? Says it’s 0.3G net carb per slice. I currently eat whole foods and avoid keto pre packed snacks because there’s plenty of warnings these products can kick you out of ketosis. Are these bread slices reliable? Thanks
