I’m from KC and grew up a chiefs fan. But I decided that I needed an NFC team, and picked the Eagles at the time because of Andy (and Brian Westbrook) ((and Brian Dawkins)). They never won a Super Bowl but they got damn close. And man were those teams fun. It was wild to me when they fired Reid after one bad year.
When the chiefs signed him I was stoked and knew we were in for a fun and respectable team year to year. Big Red has not disappointed.
Meanwhile, I’ve left the Eagles behind after Sirianni took over… I could get behind Doug Pederson, but man I can’t stand Sirianni. Dude is an antagonist to everyone around him, the total opposite to Andy’s excellence in leadership.

Yeah... it's hard, because I like a lot of the Eagles players, but Sirianna is a fuckwad. Who got his start in KC. We did this!

Yeahhh.. Todd Haley gave him his start, which makes a whole lot of sense

I didn't care for football until I moved to KC last year. The Chiefs found a way under my skin, man! Look at them gooooooooo! Red became my favorite color over night ❤️🏈

We got it made. You'd never know it by looking at this sub day to day. Oh well.

I still don't understand why Phili gave him up.

they kept getting closer and closer and never got that "win". so they were impatient.

One of Reid's sons was in an accident. The other son rushed to the accident location. Both sons were arrested, (drugs and a gun I think). One went to prison and the other went to jail. When the son that went to prison got out, he joined Reid at training camp. While at training camp, he ODed and died. The Eagles went 4-12 that year. Both the Eagles and Reid family agreed that it was time for a change of scenery.

I think you explained it correctly. Good parents sometimes have bad children, a good person sometimes have horrible parents. Andy has dedicated his entire life to NFL football...we all like him. We all like Shula.

That was the right decision for them lol. You people seem to forget Andy’s reputation before Mahomes came along.
Andy in Philly was closer to a SB winning Head Coach than he was in pre-Mahomes KC

u/TheDizziestCat 12h ago
It kinda just ran its course he was there for over a decade, sometimes it’s just best for everyone to part ways.

u/frostypatch 20h ago
Believe it or not, Andy never had to worry about winning the Super Bowl until Mahomes arrived.

Because of his son’s drug abuse… do you not know this? Not throwing shade at all, but that’s the reason

I will never forget the local news helicopter following his car to Arrowhead from the airport when he was interviewing.
It was not an overreaction.

Same. I’ve been a Chiefs fan for a long time. I still remember how excited I was when Andy was hired. I’m so glad Clark made sure he never got back on that plane!

There will always be things he does that grind my gears when watching our games or consuming our media.
Then I go watch other teams and just remember how lucky we are. So many little things that stack up with game management, situational football, knowing the team and its strengths that just are not ever a concern for us.

Reid sets the mood and tone for a team to follow and accept. His demeanor is focused and straightforward, with little need for yelling or even passive-aggressive histrionics. The situation in explaining Kingsley S's one-game suspension is classic Andy Reid----/ 'He wasn't going to play this game.' / 'Did I stutter? He was not gonna play TODAY. Next question.' / Grown babied-since-pee-wee-football athletes know where Reid stands at all times and what he is all about. And these men follow without question or qualms. THAT is Leadership in any field of endeavor.

I love Andy so much. I wouldn’t pick any other coach for this team. Hope to get him a couple more rings!

With all respect to Marty, who gave KC some incredibly memorable seasons, I really thought he was going to be another Marty that couldn't win the big one. As usual, I was slightly wrong about that one.

u/Overboss_XLIV 1d ago
I’m holding out hope for him being solely driven to be the winningest coach of all time no matter what it takes

Especially grateful for him after seeing the recent trend of bad clock management. I don’t even know if I have really even see Reid mess up clock management yet which is crazy considering how long he’s been around.

After Marty was fired, the Chiefs had 5 head coaches before the Andy Reid hire. (Cunningham, Vermeil, Edwards, Haley, Crennel). Here is their overall performance.
105-135 regular season record
2 division titles (2003 and 2010)
0-3 in the playoffs
Andy has done:
153-64 regular season record
9 division titles (2016-2024)
18-8 in the playoffs (5-2 in AFC Championship games, 3-2 in the Super Bowl)
We can sometimes complain and be critical of some of his decisions in game but at the end, he is easily the best head coach the Kansas City Chiefs has ever and probably will ever have.

I’m a chiefs fan too but calling Andy Reid the goat is delusional lol
6
u/korbentulsa Elvis Grbac, Sexiest Athlete Alive 1998 1d ago
It's not remotely delusional. Belicheck was clearly a good coach who also clearly has struggled when he hasn't had access to one of the greatest QBs of all time. Reid has been effective with a number of different quarterbacks.
Who's better? That's subjective. But Reid's body of work absolutely puts him in the conversation. Sustained success, regardless of personnel.

Andy couldn’t win the big game prior to coaching Mahomes. He was even fired from the eagles. Whats your point
7
u/Anybody220 1d ago
And Bill was fired from Cleveland and pushed out of New England. What’s your point?
Bill was nothing without Brady.
-3
u/Frequent-Magazine435 1d ago
That being fired doesn’t disregard all the successes you’ve had. Bill is clearly the goat of NFL coaches. Twice as many SB championships and 3-0 playoff head to head record.
6
u/Anybody220 1d ago
Then why did you bring up the fact that Andy was fired from Philly?
Bill had 10 seasons without Brady, and only 2 of those were winning seasons. Andy has only ever had 4 losing seasons including last year.
Yeah, Andy couldn’t win the big one without Mahomes, but Bill couldn’t win anything without Brady.

u/Frequent-Magazine435 1d ago
The average iq of the redditors replying to me is the same as a cool room. Bill leads andy in pretty much every meaningful category. Wins, SB Wins, and H2H.
The only claim Andy homers can make is bill did a lot of shady shit that should maybe compromise his goat status. Not one of you idiots has brought that up. Spygate, deflategate, and anything else.
4
u/Anybody220 1d ago
Dude, you’re an idiot.
Bill .647 win% and Andy .641 win%
Bill .724 win-season% and Andy .852 win-season%
Bill had 19 seasons with Tom Brady and 6 Super Bowl wins (.316).
Andy has had 8 seasons with Patrick Mahomes and 3 Super Bowl wins (.375).Again, Bill is nothing without Tom Brady.

You just included firing as a reason Reid isn't the GOAT. But it's irrelevant for Belicheck. Very consistent of you.
Let's compare Belicheck's record without Tom Brady and Andy Reid's record without Mahomes.
Reid without Mahomes
- regular season: 184-126-1 (59.3%)
- playoffs: 11-13 (45.8%)
- five NFC Championships and 1 Super Bowl
Belicheck without Brady
- regular season: 83-101 (45.1%)
- playoffs: 1-2 (33.3%)
- one playoff win. One.
Whether you like it or not, Reid is in the conversation, even if it makes you feel super superior on the inside to call fans of the team you say you support "delusional."
Go be a smug bully somewhere else "Chiefs fan."

Delusional no, just a smidge biased, he’s up there in the convo
-3
u/Frequent-Magazine435 1d ago
Bill has 8 SB rings. 6 as a coach and 2 as an assistant. He beat Andy for one of them.
5
u/Fickle_Comfortable78 1d ago
Bill couldn’t reinvent himself in the NFL without Tom, Andy had Philly rolling back in the day, fell off, and got things going even harder in KC. I think overall accomplishments goes to Bill, but if I had to build an organization I’m taking Andy.

He’s only 3 playoff victories behind ‘that Patriots guy’ all time, so I wouldn’t say it is delusional to suggest. He’s about 50 or so behind Shula for victories, which gives you an idea how awesome Shula was.
