Discussion It truly blows my mind how little interest I have in this team right now.

I went to 32 games at the K last season. 28 in 2024.

I have gone to 2 this year. I purchased RoyalsTV in April and cancelled in mid May because this team is unwatchable. I don't even follow along to the game on the MLB app anymore.

Discussion Hear me out…we are making the playoffs and making it to the ALCS

We have 33 games left, and the last few days I just got a good feeling going. I think we are going to win 29 of them. We will be 84-78 and make the Wild Card. I am feeling really good for some reason. Something seems to be clicking. Maybe it’s the lack of sleep, food, and too much drinking, but seriously. Why not? Give me 100 good reasons to believe we aren’t, then I might change my mind.

Give us the most unforgettable end of August and a September boys! Please!

Let’s Go!!!

_____________

28 More to Go!!!
27 More to Go!!!
26 More to Go!!!
25 More to Go!!!
Damnit! Still 25 More to Go!!! (3 losses left)

22 More to Go!!!
Oof. Still 22 More to Go!!! (2 losses left)
*#^$! 22 more to Go!!! (1 loss left)

Discussion [Schaeffer] Royals manager Matt Quatraro on being eliminated from playoff contention and finishing 2026: "It was just a formality to be eliminated. I don’t think we had any illusions that we were gonna progress into the playoffs. These guys are not going to change the way they’ve been competing."

Further Context:

"These guys are pros," Quatraro said. "They’re not gonna waver in their professionalism and will go out there and try to win every game."

PUT THEM ON THE MOTHERFUCKING GOD DAMN FIELD

I fear that if we have to watch much more of Q doing this to our lineups, people are going to start claiming sabotage. It’s getting to the point where there’s no logical answer as to why they do not consistently have their best 9 players on the field

Why is a 23 year old power phenom being PLATOONED?!?! Why is the best defensive center fielder in the game being benched for 63 YEAR OLD STARLING MARTE?! CARTER JENSEN IS OUTHITTING HALF THE TEAM AND PLAYS LESS THAN ALMOST ALL OF THEM

It’s like watching a chef craft a beautiful meal, seared and plated to perfection, then he takes it over and dumps it straight into the dog bowl and heats up spaghettios. What the fuck is Matt Quatraro doing?!

Some no brainers, but also some truly strange picks. Sweeney in the OF? No Gordo? No Amos Otis?

And listen, I love Vinnie, but don't understand how you put him over Sweeney AND Hosmer (at least at this point in his career).

What are y'all thoughts?

Here would be my list: C - Salvador Perez 1B - Mike Sweeney 2B - Frank White SS - Bobby Witt Jr 3B - George Brett OF - Willie Wilson OF - Amos Otis OF - Alex Gordon DH - Bo Jackson

Discussion [Passan] Realistically, the return that the Royals would get in trading Michael Wacha and Seth Lugo is not as good as one might hope, which is part of the reason Kansas City isn’t inclined to move either.

Discussion I'm starting to get on the "Fire Quatraro" bandwagon

The only thing worse than his lineups is his decision making in game. How tf do you not load up the bases with 1 out and runner on third? Grounder can turn either into a double play or auto out at home, and he would rather just throw Ercegg out there and pray for the best. I know its one decision today, but he's been doing things like this all season

Discussion What's your favourite thing about the gameday experience at Kauffman Stadium?

I feel like Kauffman is one of the more underrated ballparks in baseball and people who've been there know it has a charm that newer stadiums can't replicate. The fountains, the tailgating, the BBQ, the sightlines, the atmosphere on a good night. What's the thing about going to a Royals game that you'd put up against any other stadium in the league? The part of the experience you'd never want to lose even if they build something new.

Discussion Organizational Denial

I feel like a lot of fans share this sentiment at this point, but here it goes:

The most infuriating part of this season isn’t that the team sucks, we’ve all seen plenty of poor Royals seasons. What makes it miserable is that every leadership position in the organization is in complete denial, and/or lack of accountability.

JJ is trying to fool every fan into thinking this same roster is going to magically be competitive again next year (if there is a 2027 season). It’s exhausting and pathetic. Even the most optimistic of fans can see through that bullshit at this point.

Q is a broken record every post-game conference, acting like this team has put together some really good games and just gotten unlucky. Never shows any fire, and definitely does not inspire the players.

Sherman has stayed completely silent. Not a single public statement to show the fanbase that he’s pissed off with lack of success and wants to do better.

When is somebody in management or the front office ever going to show some heart, or at least just be honest and call this season a complete failure?

In isolation, these guys may not even be the worst in the league at their positions, but together they enable each other to fail without consequence.

Discussion We need to talk about the hot dog derby.

Now I’m not saying it’s fixed, but Ketchup is always ALWAYS given the inside lane in the derby.

The Royals crew always lines up the dogs in the same order - ketchup, mustard, relish. And ketchup has “run away” with the derby record for the last few years.

Now maybe ketchup is just inherently the better runner, but this unfair advantage can really matter on a short race like the derby. What do you think? Is it a setup?

Discussion I was surprised when I compared Salvy's home run stats to George Brett's.

Salvy tied George's home run total in 1/3 fewer games and at bats.

He has averaged 1 home run every 21.6 times at bat vs George's 32.6.

Salvy's has been hit by pitches 3.2 times more often than George, but I'm not sure if that's a good or bad stat to have. LOL

George is definitely the Royals' GOAT, but in one category, Salvy is easily the king.

Discussion Carter Jensen is three homers away from tying the Royals rookie season record

The Big Snooze is at 21 on the year. One more and he'll tie Carlos Beltran and Bo Jackson for second with 22. Bob Hamelin holds the record with 24.

Where do you think he'll land? I'm guessing he'll set the new record and finish with 25 or 26

Discussion Salvador Perez to Replace Q

Salvador Perez would be an excellent manager. Good catchers generally are as long as they have the respect of the players, the organization and the fan base.

There's no rule stopping him from being named player/manager if the Royals decide to move on from Q mid-season.

I would personally feel better losing with Salvy as the manager/DH/backup catcher because I KNOW he's putting it all on the field every night.

He knows what the pitchers need to do, and he knows what the players need to do.

Discussion Who to Blame Most?

Somebody had posted this poll before ASB, so I wanted to re-visit and see what the pulse is in the Royals fanbase. Now that the season is coming to an end, who would you blame most for this season being a failure?

I’ll be honest, my answer has changed multiple times throughout the season, but personally I have landed pretty firmly on JJ now. Imo, poor roster construction was ultimately this team’s biggest downfall.

Small markets can’t afford big contract blunders, and the Lugo extension has turned out terrible. You can’t have your 2nd highest paid player sitting at an above 5.00 ERA. Also, aside from the unpredictable Estevez injury, this bullpen has been a nightmare. I don’t think anybody saw the dramatic decline of Erceg and Strahm, but ultimately it was JJ that thought this bullpen could get them to the playoffs. Starting pitching was ravaged by injuries, but most of these guys already had a moderate to significant injury history, so JJ knew he was playing with fire. And with the offense, it’s been below average all year regardless of health. JJs only two offseason moves, Thomas and Collins, never made significant contributions. He also relied on Salvy to have another strong season in the 4 or 5 spot, but most knew his age was a ticking time bomb.

Every facet of the organization deserves blame. Q is a below average manager, many players underperformed, but I’m landing on JJ. Would love to hear others opinions!
