Rivals: Personally I hate the Guardians and White Sox the most of the teams in our division, I don't think everyone agrees though. Everyone hates the Yankees so idk if that counts. Our thing with the Cardinals is mainly a bragging rights thing and they don't hate us so it's kind of weird to force.

ChiSux are my least favorite ALC rival. Their fans are horrible, and ChiSux are to the Royals how the Raiders are to the Chiefs.
Weirdly not been my experience. Being from KC and having moved about a year ago to STL, I’ve actually never experienced any heckling or razzing about wearing Royals gear. people under 40 weren’t around to experience the 85 WS and even most over that age just don’t give enough of a shit about KC to say anything in my experience. Actually, just a few weeks ago I was wearing my Salvy jersey out and about and had someone roll down their window to shout “Let’s go Royals”. Of course I haven’t encountered all the Cards fans out there, but I notice at least at the moment they don’t give a damn cause their own team ain’t doing too hot.
That’s interesting, especially with them not bringing up the 1985 WS. They always bring that up around here, especially the older fans. The heckling definitely happens around here too. I’m in central Missouri and would’ve expected it to be worse in St. Louis.
I was happy that the Royals finished with better records than the cards in 2024-25 for the first time since the 1970s. That won’t be the case this season and likely moving forward, as the cardinals are doing pretty well this season and last I checked we’re only one game behind the Reds for first in the NLC. Hopefully the Reds can hold on to first place.
Yeah, I expected it to be more intense, but generally I can move about without any harassment at all. I even wear royals gear to work at my branch of the library and the most I’ll get is an older patron asking why I’m a Royals fan, and when I tell em I’m from KC that usually ends the conversation. I also lived in SGF for about a decade, and despite the Cards AA team being the home team and lots of STL transplants, same deal. Mostly I think they barely think about us anymore, which is just as well. Lol. I don’t know why you’d bother thinking much about the Royals at this point if you weren’t a fan. But hey, different experiences! I’m sure I’ll run into a hostile fan at some point. I’ve just been around them for long enough that maybe I’ve developed such a tolerance I don’t notice as much.
In 2005, 21 years ago, I went to a Royals home game against the Cardinals. The Cardinals won, whatever. The amount of drunken heckling and asshole behavior I took from the visiting Cardinals fans forever set my tone for that team.

I did notice during the press conference that Bobby's likeness was used on the artist's rendition of the jumbotron. That means they are required to keep him on the team through 2030.

What about jerseys for modern players? Obviously every Royals fan has to have at least a Brett jersey (even I do), but I'd also recommend BWJ or even Salvy if you want modern players.
I can get behind hating the Yankees, Cardinals and other ALC rivals (especially the ChiSux in my book, but don't like the others either). I don't necessarily like the Mets (for obvious reasons... 2015 WS rival) or the Astros, and I'd even recommend adding the SF Giants to that list given that the Royals fell to them in the '14 WS. However, don't get the hate toward the Cubs, Rays, Padres or Red Sox.
I actually like the Padres, they seem to have much in common with the Royals. Both are '69 expansion teams that have had their fair share of struggles throughout the decades.
Same here. I actually really hate the Chiefs in recent years, although I was more into them when I was more into the Royals. The Royals have always been the team I cared the most about.

We hate the Yankees, but that rivalry is sort of one-directional these days. I doubt they think much of us. That goes back to the George Brett days, but we all still hate 'em.
Some of us hate the Cardinals, but just as many don't.
We (maybe I) tend to root for our fellow AL Central when it's clear its not our year. A bunch of small market fandoms with a lot more in common than different. Obviously that generous spirit stops once we have the postseason in sight, or if we're head to head.
Same. I think of the other Central teams like our brothers. They annoy the shit out of me sometimes, but will always pull for them if we're out of it. (Honestly feel the same way about the Cards).
I hate the Astros but that really has nothing to do with rivalry, and a lot to do with cheating. Lots of us in this club but always ready to welcome more.
I grew up a royals fan. Started watching in 2013 (I was 11 years old) and got into baseball at the perfect time to see both playoff runs and the World Series win. My grandfather has been a royals fan forever, along with much of my family. Getting back into baseball this year after watching the WBC and I have to say it hasn’t been the best time. Hopefully last nights win can turn things around. I’ll be at the game on Saturday!

You need to know that the Royals have had some of the worst years in baseball history just like the A’s. There are many similarities. Sometimes we doom and gloom, sometimes we are optimistic and hopeful, sometimes we give up 4 runs in the first inning and the majority of this sub will turn the game off to go defrost the freezer. It’s hard out here for a pimp, and even harder being raised Royal, but someone’s gotta do it. Fuck the Yankees.

Not sure why everyone is suggesting jerseys of old legends you didn't cheer for. Find a dude on the team you vibe with and pull the trigger. I'm partial to Salvy, but understand his best years are behind him, and you may want something more forward looking.

How come you didn't go to any games at The K? I'd recommend going to a game there, it's a really great stadium and will be missed once they go downtown, but that will have its own special feel I'm sure.
Ironically, the Royals exist because the A's left KC and MLB was threatened with losing their unique antitrust exemption.

i used to be a dodgers fan, actually i'd say i like royals and dodgers equally when they aren't playing against each other but when they do play against each other, its represent my city for the royals, but probably bet on the dodgers. its like my favorite baseball teams are actually two parents and i'm their weird child but when they get into arguments its more like i couldn't care who wins. both good teams.
Drive. The bus takes you from the parking lot all the way to the Plaza. Pregame, ride to stadium for free and dodge 435, drink some more, drunkenly enjoy terrible baseball, grab 2 enormous bottles of water and pound them on the bus back, wake up tomorrow ready to do it again.
Pro tip: Replace booze with ganja and have a completely different experience
