Dude auditioned for season 12 and it was on TV. That's it. Didn't go any further. They might as well say "Former Child, Caleb Flynn, found guilty of wife's murder".

From CBS :

Caleb Flynn appeared on season 12 of "American Idol," which took place in 2013. He was given a "golden ticket" to Hollywood after auditioning but was cut early on in the competition.

Doesn't getting a golden ticket technically make you an official contestant?

I got the info from another post. Like saying "American Idol contestant" is a huge stretch. Hell, i would qualify for that, and i never auditioned, just showed up and waited in line then left.
