Jurassic Park Did a thing at NYCC

Post image

He was super nice and commented on our commitment to the photo op. I saw way less JP cosplay than I expected considering they had 4 people there for photo ops. Even in Wayne's line there was just 1 other cosplayer.

Wayne looks genuinely delighted, that's awesome.

Well yeah he’s relieved not to be the one having toxins spat into his face for a change.

Why is he such an adorable old man? He always played the most irritating characters in the 90s

Right? I guess it shows he's a good actor, because he's actually lovely.

I've always wondered if actors who play villains or other antagonistic types get all their aggression out through their roles, since it's not uncommon for them to be some of the nicest folks around. Like, yeah, it's acting, but I do wonder if it's therapeutic to just say and pretend to do stuff you wouldn't actually do in real life.

I think you're onto something, villains are almost exclusively super nice people irl, and the protagonists that never play villains are always kind of stuck up jerks irl

As someone who was in drama clubs and would beg for the villain roles despite being a total creampuff irl, this sounds accurate lol. It felt very freeing and fun to act like someone I could never be irl. It also felt like I was stretching my creative muscles more by playing against character. It was very satisfying.

I’ve done a few small villian roles in my time voice acting, and I wouldn’t say it’s therapeutic. I generally think of myself as a fairly nice person, but it’s not like I have some secret deep desire to be rude that I’m suppressing or anything.

It’s just fun being a villian because they are usually the most emotive and expressive, so you really get to take the reins off of your performance.

Maybe that doesn’t fully apply to this particular character, but I think it speaks true for a good number of villian or antagonist roles.

Not cosplay, but at least one person in line was wearing the Kramer as a painting t-shirt.
