I got pokemon go working after some fiddling with location permission by adding wifi and Bluetooth permissions for extra location helpers. And enabling wifi service on top. But was a month a go.

Maybe another user can test and verify as well.

Any idea what exactly that entails? Might try.

Pogo getting your real gps data is only way to get it working

Did they abandon SafetyNet (or Integrity checks as it's called nowadays)? Cause it didn't work because of that.

I had a Jolla C in 2016 and was able to get Pokemon Go working on Sailfish then. Required quite a bit of fiddling, but there was already someone in the forums who had done it before me which helped

Interesting, but the game is a much less broken and horribly programmed state nowadays. Back in 2016 it was one hell of a mess.

But that could go either way really. Might check some forums to maybe get some uptodate info

Thanks anyway!

Hi, I decided to try it out for you. Did not remember my login from whenever the game launched so I created a new profile. Managed to capture a couple of pokemons and spin an outpost or what they are called, everything works well so far, in fact the game looks very good compared to what it was like years ago when I played.

So the basics works as well as on android I imagine, GPS shows correct position but have not tried walking around yet. I can go for a walk later today and see how happy I am with GPS tracking if you want. Since I have not touched the game in a long time there are a lot of things I imagine are different. Do you want me to try out something specific?

EDIT: Forgot to mention that I did not need to fiddle anything with location permission by adding wifi and bluetooth permission to the app. I do however use BeaconDB in my SailfishOS navigation settings which might be relevant for what u/RedditSucksMintyBall was talking about.

Great news. Thanks for your effort. I dont think there is much more to try. Camera access probably works anyway as thats somewhat mandatory for the “buddy” feature.

As i said, thanks for trying

I'm interested can I run ingress without risking some safetynet/play integrity ban

Can you elaborate a bit on what you mean? Is "ingress" some in game feature?

Ingress is an augmented reality outdoors exploration game by niantic (same as pokemon go, pikmin, hpwu etc) https://ingress.com/

The game mechanic is kind of like capture the flag or king of the hill with resource management.

All the games (used to) share same POI data which is user community created.

Enough with the elitism, OP has a completely legit question.

Way to go to ruin the vibes of a new phone platform by mocking new users
