"You are smaller, getting smaller. But I still see you."

Well here we go, the final track on Clarity, and one that take sup over 25% of the album's overall length. For all the drama the band had with Capitol Records, I want to give the label credit for looking at this entire record and saying, "Sure, you want to close with the 16-minute experimental, ambient/electronic loop with layered vocals? OK."

The lyrics are heavily influenced by the John Irving novel A Prayer for Owen Meany. (Incidentally, "Owen Meany" is also a terrific Lagwagon song.)

As an 18-year-old when the album came out, I just thought "Sky Harbor" sounded so cool and I had no idea it was the name of Phoenix's airport.

Thanks for your 1-10 rating!

If you are ever in downtown Oklahoma City, check out Clarity Coffee! Jim posted an Instagram story about it when the guys were in town opening for Fall Out Boy. I am in OKC for a couple of days so I had to come check it out. It's a great little coffee shop! This is not a paid advertisement! 😆☕️❤️

Discussion Anyone else notice this lyrical parallel?

In Sweetness Jim says “I’m still running away” and in 23 he says “I’m still driving away.”
At first I thought it might be an intentional reference to Sweetness, but I think Jim just really likes using physical distance to describe emotional distance. Like instead of just saying he’s moved on from something, he emphasizes that in the moment he’s still moving further and further away from it.
Just thought it was a cool little similarity between the two songs. Wondering if anyone else has noticed it or if there are other examples of him doing this.

Tour Tour Setlists So Far

I put this together manually from setlist.fm, so hopefully it's accurate and hopefully I captured it accurately. I only included shows where they're the main headliners, so no festivals where they played a shortened setlist.
