6 months ago, the band texted me asking for furry artists recommendations cause they knew I was in the community.
I thought it was a prank.
I'm happy to say that it was not.
I connected them with my incredible friend Gwendolyn Wood (Poodlewool), and I'm happy to reveal the clipping 2026 Halloween shirt, designed by her.
All profits will be donated to The Trevor Project, the leading suicide prevention organization for LGBTQ youth.
This is the greatest artist connection I've ever helped with.

I completely forgot I made this YTP style meme of Intro from CLPPNG back circa 2015.
I hope y'all enjoy hearing it as much as I did rediscovering it.

Does anyone love to listen to "There existed an addiction to blood" & "Visions of Bodies being burned" during/around October-fall months? I feel like the creepy songs make the season feel just right. As well as bangers from their other albums like Body & Blood.

iām sure there are numerous examples, but three that particularly stand out to me are story 2, story 7, and wake up! being neurodivergent, thereās something so immersive about their music that just tickles my brain.
story 2 is obviously lauded for the change of tempo and time signatures, but i precisely love how it reflects the panic and urgency of mike winfield as he realizes that his house is in flames. the shift in tempo is also so seamless, the production by snipes and hutson is chefās kiss. however, i also love the tempo and time signature shifts in story 7, even if theyāre a bit harder to follow!
in wake up, itās a bit more subtle but the protagonist, cargo 2331, goes through hypersleep, where their body and blood (cleavers up, bring em hereā¦) slows down and ultimately becomes frozen. in the first chorus, daveed says āslow bloodā in a way that is reflective of the body slowing down. i feel like it sounds silly but it scratches my brain in a good way and makes the song such a fun listen.
feel free to share any other examples + things you like about clipping and their story telling, i love it š

Been a fan of them for a a while, but I've really been digging into their discography lately. Splendor & Misery is by far my favorite by them. Such a cool experience from front to back. I'm looking forward to the 10th Anniversary release!
I like how the inside of the outer sleeve has the same space pattern as the inner sleeve. It's a nice touch.

Hello all,
CLPPNG is one of my favorite albums of all time, across all genres. In fact I'm largely unaquainted with the rest of Clipping's body of work and have been firmly stuck on that album since my ears and mind were graced with it back in 2014.
My close friend group at the time would constantly debate the meanings of the lyrics, which is the best track, best beat, etc.
But one thing that was universal (universal meaning 5 people in this instance) was our distaste for the track "Tonight".
"it's just dumb" "the auto tune is cheesy" "lyrics are so vapid"
But one day, the youngest member of our group made an interesting claim.
"it's basically comic relief"
.......huh.......
At first I was resitant, or perhaps ignorant to the idea, but overtime listening to the album, it has grown on me as a concept, especially when you consider its placement within the album!
I believe "Tonight" acts as a heavily satirical "non-sequitur" track. Its unseriousness is meant to "push you away" as a listener to make space to pull you right back in with arguably the /most/ serious, introspective, mystical (and longest if I'm not mistaken) track on the album, "Dream".
Daveed's lyrics (on this album) vividly paint the picture on so many facets within American Black community, with a heavy focus on the somber-est topics. " Inside out", "Work Work", "Or Die", as some examples.
So that's why "Tonight" sticks out like a sore thumb. Why is bro talking about getting laid at the club all of a sudden? Why is his and Gangsta Boo's tone so teasing? Why the sloppy autotune....
Well I think I've said it already. It's heavy satire. It's poking fun at hip-hop "I fuck more than you" trends. And that pause in heaviness is crucial for the energetic flow of the record as a whole.
So I guess it's become a no-skip album for me, finally.
Sorry if this is a tired ass take that everyone's heard before. Also let me know if I got anything wrong.

On September 9th, 2016, clipping released "Splendor & Misery", their third full length project, and second under Sub Pop. Effortlessly blending noise, hip-hop, ambient soundscape, and traditional gospel hymns, it tells the story of the sole survivor of a slave uprising on an interstellar cargo ship, from the perspective of the ship's AI as it falls in love with him.
An essential entry to the lineage of experimental afrofuturist hip-hop albums, it was also the second album in history to be nominated for a Hugo Award.
Long Way Away (Intro)
The Breach
All Black
Interlude 01 (Freestyle)
Wake Up
Long Way Away
Interlude 02 (Numbers)
True Believer
Long Way Away (Instrumental)
Air 'Em Out
Interlude 03 (Freestyle)
Break the Glass
Story 5
Baby Don't Sleep
A Better Place
So what do you think of this project? Has your opinion changed over the course of a decade? How does the album-length narrative format compare to the song-length formats of their other projects? Have the themes of black trauma parasocialy romanticized through the eye of emotionless technology aged well? Is water wet?
In addition, I will be hosting an interview with the band discussing the album on September 17th. Keep an eye out for more details soon.

y'all know this song. A lot of folks talk about how the song was produced, but I don't think many folks have talked about the tempo swells (aka Doppler Swing) as the drums move past the field mics.

iām bored soooo describe your favorite clipping songs in one sentence?
hereās mine:
a certified anthem for seductive cannibalistic women.
a dancing anthem that also happens to be about BDSM and moving like various animals.
a seductive vampire succubus (?) lady gets killed after attempting to hook up with a police officer.

Just thought Iād show off, show off (work) the limited edition S&M vinyl I got signed during the festival at Knockdown Center. Absolutely phenomenal performance, and they were all lovely to meet.
Sharon Udoh fan club when?
r/ItsClippingBitch • u/Destination-Unknwn-8 • Aug 12 '26
High level crowd energy, and it just kept increasing throughout the set. Love that they played a smaller venue (Terminal West, capacity 625). Sharon Udoh was there and she is sublime. Open Mike Eagle was solid as well. What a great night.

They hung out for a while after the show, which was cool of them. I also got a picture with Daveed. Iāve been a fan since the Wriggle EP, but this was my first opportunity to see them live. I honestly canāt tell what William Hutsonās signature actually says.
Open Mike Eagle absolutely killed it, by the way, and the stuff off of his upcoming album (drops this Friday) was amazing.
