In America the drug balloons are inside you. In Israel the drug balloons are outside you.

TIL the smuggling is bi-directional

Yep, quite a lot of weapons heading in from Jordan, in the last couple of years.

The Jordanian Border Guards are intercepting smuggling attempts coming from Jordan to Israel. Unlike the Israeli side which is not.

What do you mean? Every once in a while I see news about Israeli border police intercepting drone and such carrying weapons and drugs.

The war on drugs is dumb in every conceivable way. Let the Jordanians enjoy hashish for all I care. Heck, even give some to the Palestinians too everyone might chill out a bit.

The pro-palestine people will say you're deliberately drugging them to get them addicted!1!1! I remember there was some sort of news from their side saying that Israel was smuggling oxycodone instead of flour. Like, dude, what?

Informed consent is important. Not only is it an ethical and legal requirement, but you would not even get the desired effect if you drug people without their knowledge. Some people can have reactions and you should also guide first timers for their trip in a calm environment to ensure it is a good experience not a nightmare.

More likely is that they would have a whinge that I would want to help them be chill with drugs rather than address what is actually bothering them in the first place, but anyone who knows me would know that isn't the case.

That tone is a result of Israeli policies. Change those policies, and the tone will change too. Israel has done plenty of things, including cancelling the Jordanian law that was in in the West Bank, and there are so many other examples that I could go on all day.

And what exactly are you suggesting? That if relations drop, Israel will turn Jordan into a new Colombia? Jordan will never allow that to happen. The previous regime in Syria tried something similar, and Jordan responded forcefully…

What I am suggesting exactly, is let people enjoy their soft drugs. And for the hard stuff, help them with medicine. Trying to stop the flow of drugs is a fool's errand and just enables the blackmarket to thrive. The same blackmarket which funds terrorism. The whole drug blackmarket would end overnight simply by making drugs legal and applying a modest tax to cover the negative externalities. Portugal has done it to great success.

Plus there are a whole lot of medical benefits being found particularly in Cannabis, MDMA, psilocybin whose research was being held back because of this ridiculous drug hysteria. Cannabis and Psilocybin in naturally occuring plants - literally given to us by God - yet we ban God's gifts. It's obscene.

If Jordan want to cash in on drugs, I support them. That is the smart thing to do.

The problem is it’s not just weed

Not if the money is then used for terrorism or other crimes, which is very common.

if you end the war on drugs, then the blackmarket which funds terrorism and crime is over instantly. How can they even sell drugs (which has absolutely no quality control) if the drugs are available legally through standard channels at an affordable price?

Somewhat similar situation here in Lithuania, but with Belarusian-Lukashenko regime sending these meteorological balloons full off Belarusian cigarettes without banderole ( small sign on cig packs which show that taxes and customs are paid ) because of those balloons Vilnius airport got shutdown multiple times, some of these ballon packages fly of course and land in middle of city, usually smugglers have gps trackers to know where package lands. Alongside this activity they also facilitate human trafficking/smuggling, by offering illegal border crossing to EU. Migrants pay for a short visit to Belarus and then with help of security agencies like KGB ( they didn't renamed the agency even after USSR collapse ) they driven to Polish, Lithuanian or Latvian border, given bolt cutters to cut through fences or shovels to dig beneath it ( no kidding ) after that there is smuggler waiting to pick them up. Luka created this scheme or so called hybrid warfare after sham 2020 election after which Lukashenko regime got sanctioned, before that there was not even a fence alongside EU-Belarus border.

Maybe if we all take a hit, all our problems will go away.

I thought it was the other way around lol, but I guess that it makes sense due to the fact it’s legal to grow (for medicinal purposes) in Israel.
