I am an Indian student applying for the international course on Math-Physics . I am pretty interested in maths but the problem is that my academic grades are average at best . The reason for that is that I like studying maths a lot but when it comes to academic grades I am relatively bad . This means in relatively poor grades in pretty much all subjects except for maths and even in maths since I don't take the course work too seriously it's not excellent.

I spend most of my time studying advanced math material, I've been doing this since 8th grade and so far have been able to cover real analysis, linear algebra, abstract algebra, point set topology, some amount of algebraic topology, measure theory , some amount of functional analysis , the theory of smooth manifolds (diff-geo) and category theory .

I understand that only stating these areas doesn't prove that I know them well (doesn't even prove that I vaguely know them) and you see many guys on the internet claiming to have done a lot of advanced coursework but when you ask them they breakdown even in the basic definitions. So for this I am making a website to put up my typed out notes and also am doing a reading project in sheaf and topos theory with a decently well known algebraist from India . I also am trying to write an exposition on the following question: What's the point of abstraction?

In this article I question and try to find out the point of studying objects abstractly , like whats the point of studying manifolds from an abstract perspective while you can simply study embedded submanifolds in R^n or similarly why do we study abelian categories from an abstract perspective while we can study them simply as categories embedded in R-Mod for some ring R .

I'll try to see if I can put this up somewhere.

I haven't done much in physics but my last year's school project was on Newton -Cartan theory which looks at newtonian mechanics from a geometric perspective.

If anyone is interested in reading the notes I have right now to see if I truly understand what I claim to do then I will be happy to share the notes in dms . I must say that I haven't used AI in any way, other than for presentation purposes in the preparation of my notes .

2027 cycle

I'm in the first year of the IB Diploma Program and Ecole Polytechnique is my top choice for university, for when I eventually apply. Considering I'm and international student, what should I do and how should I build my profile so that I can become a competitive applicant in 1.5 years?

Hello, I am a uni student in Cambodia. I recently just find out about the IP Paris program where i get to enroll in after my Year2 in my home country. But i am worried about the entrance exam. I just know that they changed the entrance exam into Oral. So can anybody help me by telling me the Syllabus so i can prepare for the exam?

Thanks, because i could not find it online. i check the Official web they offer me a link but it's not working at all.

does anyone have the link?

Hi all, a bit of a random question. Given how close is the institute campus to the Fontainebleau forest, I was wondering: how common is bouldering among graduate students at IP?

There is a mention of a climbing wall on campus on the website, is there some type of association related to it? Thanks in advance!

Hi everyone! I was just completing the app for this coming round and I noticed the application no longer includes the 3 essays it did in previous years. Now, it only includes one generic piece and a short paragraph on a topic that interests you.

I think my application is competitive, I get good grades and everything but my extracurriculars are really my standout, as well as my international experience. I just am worried there is a lot less ways to express my strongest points and my writing capabilities in the new application. Anyone else notice this?

Also, I am wondering if this means the interview will change. You are supposed to share a topic that interests you- I did sensitivity creating space for adversarial attack on LLMs - and then you will have the chance to speak for 15 minutes on the topic. This doesn't match previous years or what is on the website. Does this mean I should change my interview prep?

Hi everyone! 👋

I’m a student from India currently in Paris for my M2 internship at École Polytechnique. I’ll be joining Sorbonne University for another internship after this, so I’ll be around for a while!

I work in computational biology, and outside of work I’m into cooking, debating, watching films, and generally exploring new places.

I’m really enjoying it here so far and would love to meet some new people and make friends. If anyone’s up for exploring Paris, or just hanging out, feel free to DM me! :)

Bonjour,

Hey guys! Hi, I'm an Indian student and I'm planning to apply for the BSc Physics at École Polytechnique. I would really appreciate it if you could give me some honest advice.

I am studying Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics (PCM) in Class 11-12 under CBSE with very strong academic grades. I have few extracurriculars, but I recently won CERN’s Beamline for Schools (BL4S) and traveled to CERN to conduct our proposed particle physics experiment.

I don't speak French, I speak only English.

My family income is fairly low, so I cannot afford Polytechnique without a lot of need-based financial aid. Would I be able to get enough aid to go? Also if you have any tips please share

Hi everyone,

I’m planning to apply to the M2 Data Science at Institut Polytechnique de Paris for 2027–2028 and I’m interested in the FMJHCare Incoming Mobility Scholarship (€11,000/year).

My main difficulty is the sponsorship requirement. From what I understand, an eligible professor or program coordinator within the FMJH network must nominate/support the student.

Has anyone received this scholarship or knows how to find the right person to sponsor an application, especially for the M2 Data Science at IP Paris?

Should I contact the M2DS coordinators directly, and should this be done before or after admission?

Thanks a lot!

I'm an international student from a developing country, i have IAL Edexcel
AS maths 299/300 A
AS further maths 272/300 A (btw self studied as isnt offered in country)
AS Spanish A
AS physics 239/300 B (one mark off)
7 IGCSE A*
math physics chem bio ICT spanish english (with very high raw marks)
planning to continue with only math physics spanish (predicted A* all)
did a project in a sci fair in middle school about special theory of relativity,
varsity 4 years in 3 sports (won almost all of comps i enter (many))
alot of volunteering
coaching sports
MUNS with some awards
fluent in german arabic spanish english

I’m struggling to understand the academic level required for IB students. My grades are currently
Math AAHL 6
Physics HL 6
Economics HL 7
Chemistry SL 7
English L&L SL 6
Spanish ab Initio 7
ToK predicted 2 points

For a total of 41/45. My extra curriculars are not particularly strong, I run a women in STEM club, have placed second in a hackathon, worked at a grocery store and done volunteering. From my interpretation ill likely not get accepted with this, but how much would I have to improve? If I manage to increase my math and physics grades to 7s = 43/45 and maybe some useful internship or military service, am I likely to be accepted?

Otherwise, please recommend other universities that are also in english with a decent pricing that I have a greater chance of getting in to.

Hi! I’m moving to the Paris area soon to start a Master’s in Biomedical Engineering at Institut Polytechnique de Paris, and I was wondering if there are any Arab students/alumni here (or other international students with similar backgrounds).

Would love to hear what your experience has been like studying and living in Paris/Saclay, especially socially, making friends, adjusting to France, and generally finding a community.

I’d also love to connect with anyone studying at IP Paris or in a similar engineering/biomedical program. Any advice for an incoming student would be really appreciated :)

Hi everyone,

Does anyone have information about the Qube Research & Technologies (QRT) Excellence Scholarship for the M2 Data Science at Institut Polytechnique de Paris / École Polytechnique?

I know that a small number of international M2DS students receive this scholarship, but I’m looking for information about:

• scholarship amount;
• selection criteria;
• whether there is a separate application or automatic consideration after M2DS admission;
• selection/result timeline;
• number of recipients per year.

If you received this scholarship or know someone who did, I’d really appreciate any information about the process.

Thanks!

Hi everyone,

I’m an international student planning to apply to the M2 Data Science (M2DS) at Institut Polytechnique de Paris / École Polytechnique for 2027–2028.

I would like to know what scholarships or financial aid are available for international students in this M2, especially for tuition fees and living expenses.

I’m also interested in the France Excellence Eiffel Scholarship. Does anyone know if M2DS students can be nominated for Eiffel by IP Paris, how the internal application works, and whether you need to be admitted before applying?

Any experience from current or former M2DS students would be very helpful. Thanks!

Hi fellows,

i'm newly m2 student of M2 ML, Communication and Security of Telecom Paris. I want to ask about last year starting day ( first day of study in calendar, not the welcome week) for booking flight.

Cheers
