The community medicine department made a parents’ group and will share our monthly attendance and marks of all the internal tests.. will inform the parents if we plan on having a mass bunk (cant even go to trips now without informing at home)..
This whole thing sucks so much arghhh, why are they still treating us like a kid? This whole department is hated by all of us argh

Amusing For my medschool gymbros (and gals)
Studying with revision in mind is lwk hard because I always wonder if I will remember shit but then I also think padh lete hain kya pata yaad reh jaye but then I forget so it's...
Also, yeah, at the gym. Focus on intensity (train near failure), train a muscle atleast 2-3 times a week, and don't keep switching exercises, be patient, full stack everything with good form. Ez.

Discussion Is saree a common dress code for girls during professional exams in different med colleges? 😮😮
Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification
Insert here -**Whatever word is the equivalent of cultural shock in this situation**
I have never heard any one wearing saree while giving the proff exams.
But then I checked the comments and realised it was common? and people were talking about wearing cotton sarees and other stuff?
What state is it more common in ?
I thought it is a universal fact that every one looks like a zombie during proff session?
I have seen people brushing their teeth AFTER returning from exams 🥲🥲 skiping bath and often wearing the same cloth for 2-3 exams ,( till now all are proffs were conducted in peak winter)
On a side note ,I aspire to be as relaxed and well put together like her during exam season ,manifesting this energy 😊😊

Vent / rant 3 years of NEET PG preparation, almost no social life, and I think the loneliness is finally catching up to me. Has anyone else been through this?😣😣
(Warning: Long post ahead. I just needed to get this off my chest, so thank you to anyone who takes the time to read it.)
I’m 27, and I don’t really know where to start, but I guess I just need to get this off my chest.I’m currently going through what feels like one of the loneliest phases of my life. This is my third year as a NEET PG aspirant, and honestly, it’s getting harder to deal with than I ever imagined.
NEET PG 2025 was my first attempt, and I managed to score a rank of around 50k. I decided to take a drop and prepare again for NEET PG 2026, hoping to improve my rank and get a better outcome. However, 2026 turned out to be a pretty difficult year for me, not just academically but also because of several family and personal life issues. Things didn’t go as planned, and my NEET PG 2026 attempt didn’t go well either.
So here I am, taking what I consider to be the final drop of my life, trying to give this exam one last proper shot. But lately, it’s not just the pressure of the exam that’s getting to me. It’s the loneliness that comes with it.
For almost three years now, my life has revolved around preparation. There’s barely any opportunity to go out, explore things, develop hobbies, or meet new people. I don’t have a job or my own source of income, so I’m still financially dependent on my dad. And honestly, that’s not an issue in itself. My dad provides for me, and I’m grateful for that. I don’t ask for much beyond my necessities. But sometimes, not having the freedom to do things independently makes life feel a little restrictive.
My dad doesn’t want me to work because he feels it would affect my preparation, and practically speaking, he’s probably right. I understand his point, so I don’t push the issue. But that also means studying is pretty much the only thing I’m supposed to be doing with my life right now.And the hardest part? Life doesn’t stop while you’re preparing for an exam.
My non-medico friends are all busy with their own lives. Most of them have businesses or work to manage, and naturally, they have their own responsibilities and priorities. We barely get time to meet anymore. There’s no resentment towards them; I understand that everyone is trying to build their own life. It’s just that somewhere along the way, I feel like I’ve been left behind socially while everyone else has moved forward.
The irony is that I always considered myself a loner. I genuinely thought I was someone who enjoyed his own company, didn’t need much social interaction, and wasn’t particularly bothered by what was happening in the outside world. I was pretty chill and content with myself. I didn’t constantly seek validation from other people, and I could spend time alone without feeling like I was missing out on anything. But now, I’m beginning to question whether I really understood myself that well.Maybe I genuinely enjoyed my own company back then because being alone was a choice, not because it was the only option available to me.
These days, I find myself craving something as simple as having a friend to talk to about random things. Someone I can text daily, share the little things happening in my life with, talk to when I’m having a bad day, or occasionally call without needing a specific reason. Someone with whom I can have a normal conversation that doesn’t revolve around NEET PG, medicine, ranks, preparation strategies, or career anxiety. I don’t necessarily want a huge friend circle, a party life, or to go out every other day. Honestly, even having one or two genuine friends would make such a difference. Just having people I can connect with emotionally and feel comfortable around would mean a lot right now.The problem is that I genuinely don’t know how to find those connections anymore.
I barely have time for hobbies or communities where I could meet new people. I can’t regularly go out, and I don’t really have a natural environment in which to make new friends. And when your entire routine consists of studying, eating, sleeping, and repeating the same thing the next day, your world gradually becomes smaller and smaller.
But lately, the loneliness has become harder to ignore. There are days when I crave friendship so badly that it genuinely affects my mood. Sometimes I feel emotionally exhausted even when I haven’t done anything physically exhausting. And I hate admitting this, but I think it’s beginning to affect my mental health and even my studies to some extent. It’s difficult to concentrate when your mind keeps reminding you how isolated you feel. And after a difficult year filled with personal and family issues, I think the lack of a proper support system has made everything feel even heavier. Sometimes, you don’t necessarily need someone to solve your problems; you just need someone you can talk to without having to explain your entire situation or pretend that everything is fine. Then there’s the guilt of feeling this way because, technically, I have a roof over my head, food to eat, supportive parents, and an opportunity to prepare for an exam that could shape my future. I know there are people dealing with much bigger problems, and I am grateful for what I have. But I guess loneliness doesn’t necessarily disappear just because other aspects of your life are okay.
Sometimes I wish I could just take a break, go somewhere, meet people, and feel like a normal 27-year-old for a little while. But then the exam is always at the back of my mind, reminding me that I can’t afford to lose focus. It feels like I’m stuck between two things that both matter to me: building my future and having a life in the present.I don’t want to look back after NEET PG and realise that I spent three or four years doing nothing but preparing for an exam while completely neglecting my social and emotional needs. At the same time, I don’t want to compromise this final attempt either.
So I genuinely want to ask a few things:
- Did anyone else spend two or three years with almost no social life, very little social interaction, and practically no close friends? How did you cope with it?
- How did you manage the loneliness without compromising your preparation? Did you find ways to make friends despite having such a restrictive routine?
- What would you suggest to someone in my situation who doesn’t necessarily need a big social circle but really misses having one or two genuine friends? I’m not looking for sympathy or someone to tell me to just study harder and forget everything else. I know what my priorities are, and I’m trying my best to stick to them.I guess I just want to hear from people who have actually experienced something similar and understand what it’s like. Man, this phase of life is tough. And for the first time in a long while, I’m realising that maybe I’m not as much of a loner as I thought I was. Maybe I’ve just been alone for too long. If you’ve been through this, I’d genuinely appreciate hearing your experience and how you got through it!!

Discussion Why Tamil Nadu PG doctors stay silent about long duty hours and low stipends
Many people wonder why resident doctors in Tamil Nadu government medical colleges do not protest more aggressively for fair stipends and regulated duty hours.
The simple answer is exam retribution. Department heads hold near-absolute power over practical exams, logbook signings, and thesis clearances. Raising your voice does not just mean getting reprimanded; it frequently means getting failed in exit exams or delayed by six months.
Overworking resident doctors to the point of exhaustion is actively normalized as dedication, while asking for fair pay is dismissed. Until medical colleges decouple academic evaluation from administrative grievance, resident doctors have no protection.

Vent / rant Dear Postgraduates
If you borrow a stethoscope or a pulse probe or anything else especially in casualty, kindly return it back to him/ her or at the very least keep it safely till you see them back. Don’t be like, I don’t know where I had kept. And don’t get shocked if we take your stethoscope back till you find that stethoscope back. It’s not like you are borrowing our stethoscope to see stuff and teach us. And no, even if you misplace our 200 rupee steth, you are NOT getting back your littmann cardiology untill you get our steth back. One of my batchmates had lost his Littmann steth because of carelessness of a new JR (he was dumb enough to take Littmann to casualty).

Post Graduate Exams - NEXT/NEET/INICET Average student NEET PG AIR 85k —>4k AMA
Thought of doing an AMA because I used to be the person who scoured Reddit to find posts about people who made such a huge jump . Found very few . So thought an AMA might help people like me .
For added context : source was not marrow ( did surgery and biochem from it )
Did not study 12 hrs a day ( maybe only handful of days )
Because after a certain time my brain gets saturated and nothing after that gets retained .
Did not do well in university. Used to be active in extra curricular activities the whole time .
Did not do 100 or 200 questions a day . Did not do more than 10 gts .
So all in all did a very unconventional neet pg prep and here to break a lot of myths about the neet pg prep . So fire away
Also let me just say whatever my opinion is I am not trying to undermine any hardworking high scorers prep . My bestfriend also my prep partner went from 1 lakh plus to 1k with pure hardwork ( source was not marrow ).So really all i am here to do is lessen the anxiety of people who think there is only one way to crack NEET PG .
P.S: I am well aware that my rank is not awe inspiring . Might have done better had the exam day gone better health wise . But always aimed for a rank under 5k because I wanted surgery . So I am more than content.
Thank you to those who wished me good luck and to everyone who asked me questions . I hope I have answered all of them and if you any more queries dm me . Just some important things I want to end this with : 1. The source does not matter . Stick with whatever u r comfortable with and try to reduce it by highlighting the important stuff from previous year topics . 2. If u r an anxious person try to get out of reddit some months before the exam . There will constantly be unnecessary materials , discussions , rage bait , people with 150s in gts crying . Its not going to help . 3. Don’t build FOMO try to add new things … try to reduce it to only absolutely necessary content 4. Have fun with memorising . Build mnemonics songs that suit you . Link different types of stimulus to a volatile information 5. Making mistakes in gts or custom modules does not matter . Its a good thing . You won’t make the mistake again . Try to stick to neetpg and inicet tags in marrow everything else is unnecessary. And try to do magic modules whenever they come . U get to revise ur mistakes . 6. Don’t compare urself to others . Compare urself to the target u set for urself . Keep improving ur score from 95 corrects to 100 to 105 . Dont expect a jump to 140 7 . Similarly don’t look at the ranks in marrow gts . Not reliable . Dont look at top scorers in marrow gts .. all fake . Look at you corrects .. only ur corrects . 8. Keep it simple . Its easy only . A movie on ur break day or even a 2 month drop does not mean the end if u have the resolution. 9. Study ur materials , test urself on the concept with gemini or easy questions on marrow , then test it with all kinds of qstns on marrow , try to do gts to analyse ur progress i have heard it works for a lot of people to start early . Nothing else is necessary

Post Graduate Exams - NEXT/NEET/INICET MVJMC & RH BLR KAR
MVJ Medical College, please don’t join. Please don’t admit your child here if you have other options. One of the worst places.
The Medicine HOD is useless and unprofessional. No one does anything except suck up to the management. He plays favourites. Will only give marks to people who he likes. Who suck up to him. No place for merit here.
The ICU has a useless person in charge. He hasn’t even completed a critical care course, yet he acts as though he is capable of making all the ICU decisions.
He left a guide wire inside a patient after CVC insertion . God knows y he isn’t in jail yet.
The undergraduate environment is a disaster.
Pgs are underpaid. Made to return stipend every month. And over burdened. Especially medicine.

Post Graduate Exams - NEXT/NEET/INICET [ serious post ] Is it possible to clear PG Entrance without Any online / offline Coaching?
Hey guys, am a third year Student ( just finished 2nd proff)
15 Days ago we found out that my Dad got cancer.
I come from a lower middle class family background and my father is a farmer.
Cancer is affecting us mentally and financially. Every penny of the house is being used on father's treatment.
I genuinely don't want to buy a marrow plan for 75k, that money can be used for his treatment instead.
I genuinely want to know if it is possible to clear PG exam without any coaching.
Please be kind.

Question md medicine in peripheral gmcs vs dnb medicine
Hi, so for some context i have a rank that would get me peripheral gmcs in my state (potentially if my luck is good some nicer md ones in state counselling) but im not so sure about that or, i could go for dnb colleges such as nanavati, breach candy etc in mumbai and max saket, batra hospital etc in delhi.
Every practicing md medicine i’ve met (they’re mostly people in their 50s tho) has told me to go for md no matter what.
I wanted to get a perspective from people who’ve recently done their residencies about what it is actually like in dnb and if i should prefer it? Please anybody who could help me this, i’d be super grateful.
Thank you in advance!

Counselling Regarding MD Medicine colleges to choose in the counselling
Good evening everyone... hopefully everyone's having a nice day....This post is in regards to choosing md medicine at a college....I'm from an older batch, and have got a decent rank this time around in neet...and I wanted to know your opinion about a few of these colleges....(Since I am from the south it is a bit difficult for me to travel to the north)
At my rank, RML Medicine is out of range....so basically I want to know which order these colleges rank in...esp
MAMC Med (long/out of reach but just asking)
VMMC Med
LHMC Med
LTMMC Sion Med
Seth GS KEM Med
IMS BHU Med(no bond)
The most important factor to me has to be reasonable workload, less number of weekly duties with negligible toxicity.... Since I have a chronic condition I would prefer lesser workload and optimal conditions....I know it's very rare in india but I have no option but to ask. Radio is out of question because of personal reasons + health reasons+ radiation exposure. Ideally I would have gone for SMS Jaipur since it has 60 medicine PGs...but 1.5 crore post PG rural service bond is too much esp since I don't plan to do DM.....I can join the best college in my state but that is probably my last choice.....
If anyone has any ideas/has been previously in my situation, please drop some enlightenment....it will help a lot.... Thank you in advance.....

Discussion Radiology general doubts and Answers ( from a radiologist with 2 YOE) in a tier 2 city in bengal..AMA
- Is WLB good after completing residency?
Ans. Definitely, better than most of the clinical fields , you won't have the additional stress of finding patients. Centers do the job for you
- Earnings in radiology?
Ans. I'll give ballpark figures for most of the states in India.
Tier 1 cities - 2.2-2.6LPM in corporates. With slow increments ( you can reach about 5 LPM with 10 YOE).. Diagnostic centers might pay upto 3.5LPM but no growth
Tier 2 cities - 3-5 LPM. There are radiologists earning 7-8 LPM also who do 80 USGs per day. But you will get burnt out pretty soon.
Slightly lesser in southern states.
- Ai in radiology?
Ans. Ai will definitely come, no doubt. But it won't cause a bloodbath in the job market. Absolutely not. The work hours in corporates will remain the same. You will be able to devote more time to CTs and MRIs which actually deserve your time. Suppose MRI LS spine gets automated. and Ai flags the parts which deserve your attention. So instead of spending 5 mins per LS spine ( normal or abnormal), now you can spend 2 mins on normal LS spines and 10 mins on abnormal ones. This will result in better reporting.
- I believe the future is headed towards subspecializing in a perticular niche( doing 1 year fellowships) . Like MSK radiologist with few interventions
Neuroradiology , fetal med etc etc.
The worst thing you can do for yourself is not choosing radio because of Ai scare.
Here you do good work.
In all other fields you have to devote atleast 7 years ( MD+ SS)and then corporates will pay you what radiologists get just after MD. If you are not interested in clinicals, you won't be able to tolerate such gruesome workload for the next 7 years. Also consider marriage, kids, family health issues. Your 20s and 30s won't come back ever again. In radio, you can do fellowships later to upskill yourself, the same can't be said about surgery or medicine. Moreover, middle Eastern countries hire indian radiologists with FRCR. So yeah, abroad opportunities are also available.

Counselling Neetpg councillor forcing me to take up colleges from his college personalised list! Idk seems shady, what do u guys think?
So I was making a list of the colleges I want to get into it's either dnb, semi private or some deemed ones too by checking zynerd, neetvantage, and talking to people who enrolled in those places to enure ive gotten the rank cutoffs right
By the list I made, im getting those colleges by R2 and max to max almost all in the list fall in my rank range in R3
Now this councillor says that I will get none of it and is asking me to change all college list and preference and use his college personalised list, i checked it, man im not even getting those till R3 or R4 and some college from his list close way above my rank!
When asked what is wrong in my list ,im getting those by R2 hes like nahi milega. Even after proving him with screenshots that all of them fall in my rank he said then do whatever u want I have many kids to handle ,then constantly calling my parents and fear mongering jaldi batao!
My parents are saying he has ways to book college. Setting hai koi. Top colleges mai Setting hai, hes saying he knows ways to get it! MANN! Im getting colleges without all this crap then why is he creating fear in my parents and not accepting the colleges I want?? This all seems so shady!! Dont u guys think that???
Should u drop and hire a new councillor?? Or use zynerd and neetvantage and not fall for this fear??has anyone experienced this?
SUMMARY-->Given me unrealistic colleges where my cut off isn't even matching! And im way behind the cut off!
And when I tell my preference of college, handing over their college list instead of answering why I cannot get my college even after my rank matches?
Pressurising I have many students so fast Karo baat I don't have time and all

Medical News ₹50K Salary, ₹10 Lakh to Quit: UP Bonded Doctors Beaten by Police for Demanding Equal Pay
I am a bonded MBBS doctor in Uttar Pradesh, and I want to highlight what’s happening to us.
For over 40 days, bonded doctors across UP have been protesting against massive salary disparities and inhumane working conditions. Now, doctors are facing police brutality for demanding their rights.
1. ₹10 Lakh Penalty Just to Resign
Even if we want to leave these working conditions, breaking our compulsory 2-year service bond reportedly means:
₹10 lakh penalty for breaking the bond.
12–15% annual interest on delayed payment.
Repayment of salaries already received may also be demanded.
We are practically financially trapped in this system.
2. Massive Salary Disparity (The DGME vs. DGHS Trap)
Bonded doctors in medical colleges (under DGME): ₹1.10–1.22 lakh/month (paid as per 7th CPC Level-10 scale: ₹5,400 Grade Pay + DA, HRA, and NPA).
Bonded doctors in CHCs/PHCs (under DGHS): Around ₹50,000–55,000/month (kept on an archaic consolidated fixed pay with zero allowances).
Contractual NHM doctors: Reportedly around ₹1 lakh/month.
Same MBBS degree. Same 2-year bond. Almost half the salary—simply because our allotment falls under DGHS (rural CHCs/PHCs) instead of DGME (medical colleges).
Deputy CM Brajesh Pathak assured us of a salary increase to ₹1 lakh, and reports of approval emerged. Yet we’re still waiting for the official Government Order (GO) and its implementation.
3. Inhumane Working Conditions
There is no clearly communicated official framework defining our duty hours, workload, or responsibilities, allowing local authorities to assign us almost any work.
50–60+ working hours weekly, often managing most CHC emergencies ourselves.
Treated like resident doctors while earning barely ₹50,000.
In some CHCs/PHCs, permanent MOs refuse medico-legal examinations (MLPCs), leaving bonded doctors to perform most of them without adequate practical training.
MLPC cases can require court appearances years later, even during MD/MS residency, when obtaining leave from HODs can be difficult.
Some district administrations are allegedly threatening transfers to remote rural postings if doctors participate in protests.
4. Police Brutality Against Doctors
On 13 October at Hazratganj Chauraha, Lucknow, protesting doctors who were sitting peacefully—with no violence and no anarchy—while seeking accountability for the Deputy CM's assurance were dragged and manhandled by police.
One female doctor reportedly sustained a finger fracture (confirmed on X-ray).
Two male doctors are currently admitted to KGMU with serious injuries.
Multiple doctors sustained bruises, lacerations, and other injuries during the police action.
Imagine completing MBBS, working under an unfair compulsory bond, and then getting beaten by police for demanding equal pay.
5. We Need Your Support
We are simply demanding fair salary parity, defined working hours, proper medico-legal training, and the right to protest peacefully without intimidation.
Despite regional coverage, this issue has received far too little national attention.
I request everyone in r/IndianMedSchool—IMA, RDAs, MBBS students, interns, residents, and senior doctors—to please stand with us.
Please upvote and share this post. We need the medical fraternity to know what’s happening in Uttar Pradesh.
Today it’s UP bonded doctors. Tomorrow it could be doctors in another state.
ONE BOND, ONE SALARY.
HANDS THAT HEAL SHOULD NOT FACE VIOLENCE.
