Colonial 1757–1947 CE Anti Hindutva writings of Subhash Chandra Bose
Some background, while Subhash Chandra Bose was friendly with Savarkar and Dr Shyama Mookerjee, he was staunchly against their communal politics. Here are some excerpts from writings and speeches
History will bear me out when I say that it is a misnomer to talk of Muslim rule when describing the political order in India prior to the advent of the British. Whether we talk of the Moghul Emperors at Delhi, or of the Muslim Kings of Bengal, we shall find that in either case the administration was run by Hindus and Muslims together, many of the prominent Cabinet Ministers and Generals being Hindus. Further, the consolidation of the Moghul Empire in India was affected with the help of Hindu commanders-in-chief. The Commander-in-chief of Nawab Sirajudowla, whom the British fought at Plassey in 1757 and defeated, was a Hindu.
Unfinished autobiography An Indian Pilgrim (1937)
.
‘The Hindu Mahasabha has been doing incalculable harm to the idea of Indian nationhood by underlining the communal differences—by lumping all the Muslims together…. We cannot oblige Mr Savarkar by ignoring the contributions of nationalist Muslims to the cause of India.’
December, 1939, political weekly Forward Block
.
Senior Sangh Parivar leader Balraj Madhok, in his book Portrait of a Martyr: Biography of Dr Shyama Prasad Mookerjee (1954), writes how Bose supporters would break up Hindu Mahasabha meetings and even attack Dr Mookerjee around this time, and how Bose jokingly but seriously threatened to destroy his political party of he ever thought of making one
.
‘That was a long time ago, when prominent leaders of the Congress could be members of the communal organisations like Hindu Mahasabha and Muslim League. But in recent times, the circumstances have changed. These communal organisations have become more communal than before. As a reaction to this, the Indian National Congress has put into its constitution a clause to the effect that no member of a communal organisation like Hindu Mahasabha and Muslim League can be a member of an elective committee of Congress.’
editorial, titled Congress and Communal Organizations - Forward Block May 1940
.
“The Hindu Mahasabha has entered the political arena by taking advantage of religion and has desecrated it. It is the duty of every Hindu to condemn it. Banish these traitors from national life.”
speech at Jhargram in Bengal on 12th May 1940

Colonial 1757–1947 CE Bengal famine and American independence
Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification
Never thought the Bengal Famine of 1770 could have any connection to American independence. The East India Company’s financial crisis and the British government's attempts to bail it out contributed to the tensions that led to the Boston Tea Party. History is crazy when you realise how events in Bengal were connected to the American Revolution.here you have annamalai speaking about this in detail

Visual Perhaps the best Indian YouTube channel about Indian history
I am in no way affiliated to the channel or its creator. But I have been a fan of Jay's work for years now and wanted to share it with others.
His channel is perhaps Indian channel which provides authentic, unbiased and well-researched information on Indian history.
Unlike people like Science Journey or Harry Sahota, who spread a flood of misinformation to promote their biased agenda, Jay's channel remains strictly academic and based on peer-reviewed historical information.
He adds very little interpretations of his own despite now being a full-fledged Ph.D. in Indian History and instead lets the various scholars speak on the topic through their work.
And his own interpretations are based on facts and credible data.
His other two channels, The Story Of India and Historically Speaking are excellent as well.
The Story Of India is a Hindi based channel and Historically Speaking is a long monologue based channel.
I just hope that more people watch his videos and appreciate the work he has been doing as opposed to flocking towards misinformation spreaders like Science Journey or Harry Sahota.

Question How did Prithviraj Chauhan actually die?
I’m a bit confused reading different accounts.. The Prithviraj Raso says he killed Ghori in Ghazni while blind... But some history books and old coins say he was killed in Ajmer right after the battle.
Which version is the actual truth? Does anyone know?

Post Independence 1947–Present Fun fact: There's never been an alive Congress PM to see another Congress PM immediately succeeding him
Not counting the very brief acting PM tenures (as a result of unexpected deaths) of Gulzarilal Nanda, but there has never been an instance in which a Congress PM was alive to witness another Congress PM immediately succeeding him. The transitions were:
Nehru dies in office on 27 May 1964, Nanda serves as the Acting PM, Shastri becomes PM on 9 June 1964.
Shastri dies in office on 11 January 1966,, Nanda again serves as the Acting PM, Indira Gandhi becomes PM on 24 January 1966.
Congress-to-Janata Party transition in 1977.
Indira Gandhi dies in office on 31 October 1984, Rajiv Gandhi becomes PM that day.
Congress-to-NF transition in 1989.
Congress-to-BJP transition in 1996.
Congress-to-BJP transition in 2014.
