Discussion Who do you think best used Mahesh Babu as an actor?
Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification
I am a telugu speaker. Many people consider Mahesh to be expressionless and called a robot but out of 28 movies he has been expressionless in 4-5 movies. From 1999 till 2015 he has one of the best filmography where he did experimental movies, good commercial movies where he acted really well. Ex Murari, Nijam, Naani, Pokiri, Okkadu, Athadu, Businessman, Dookudu, Seethamma Vakitlo Sirimalle Chettu, Takkari Donga, Arjun, 1 Nennokkadiney and recently Guntur Kaaram. For me the directors that brought the best out of him are Sukumar, S.J.Surya and Trivikram Srinivas. Share your opinions.

Discussion Ramayana paid bots are everywhere
Under every ramayana post on social media is the army of bots that seem to show up the second anyone says anything remotely critical about the visuals. You can’t even say that something looks bad or underwhelming without being called anti-national, anti-hindu, a “brown sepoy” or whatever else they’ve been told to spam that day. And it’s always the same fucking script. “That’s why the brits ruled us.” “disrespecting our history.” “brown sepoy.” Do these people even hear themselves? Nobody is disrespecting the Ramayana. Nobody is attacking the story, our culture or our history. People are criticising the visuals of a movie that reportedly cost an absurd amount of money to make, and somehow that’s become an act of national betrayal. Blindly praising something made in India matters more than asking whether it’s actually good now. We’re supposed to feel proud just because it’s the Ramayana, a story most of us have grown up hearing and seeing in countless forms, regardless of whether the people making this particular version have actually done justice to it. And in the end, the people who benefit most from this blind, unquestioning pride are the same rich assholes funding and making these films, who’ll get even richer while everyone else fights strangers online on their behalf. Imagine what we could do with that kind of money if it went towards fifty genuinely great films, with good writers, thoughtful direction and actors who can actually bring stories to life. But apparently asking for better filmmaking means you hate your own country now. I don’t know, man. It’s just depressing watching genuine pride in our culture get turned into a marketing tactic, criticism get treated like treason, and an entire comment section start sounding like the same three people repeating the same five lines. We deserve better films than this, and we deserve to be able to say so without being treated like enemies of our own culture.

Appreciation Watched Jadi: The Untold Side of If last month still in the Hangover. Easily one of the freshest surprises in recent Odia/regionalncinema
Walked out of the theatre after catching Jadi: The Untold Side of If, eyes full of tears and mind full of questions about things i myself did and which could have lead to devastation. and I genuinely think it deserves a lot more chatter than it’s getting.
In an industry where so many releases lean on cookie-cutter commercial tropes or dated melodrama, Dibyajyoti Udayasingh put together something grounded, engaging, and rooted in an actual world.
Here is what genuinely worked:
- Dibya is a superstar, i remember seeing Khordha toka and Funny Anugulia collabs in lockdown where it was so well received over the years i really never knew this guy was the real genius behind everything. Though they both are separated now but I still feel these people pioneered Odia Youtube comedy space for more than half a decade.
- Priyamvada stole every scene she was in: Easily the biggest highlight of the film. Her screen presence felt completely effortless and natural, delivering emotional weight without ever tipping into melodrama.(Key moment was the change of expression when she was talking to Akash)
- Shailendra's range: Known primarily for his dancing, it was great to see him anchor the lead with so much emotional restraint. Even when the character is quiet, his expressions do the heavy lifting. You will not recognise this guy in his other films and he is a pure genius actor.(A couple of mannerisms had distinct Thalapathy flair, but it worked in the context of a local youth hero!)
- The friendship gang & comic timing: The supporting gang had incredible banter. The humor felt like how boys in a village college actually talk to each other—none of that awkward slapstick that usually plagues rural comedies. His mother’s character and Sushant Das Mahapatra as the DSP also brought solid presence in their screen time.
- Balancing comedy with a real issue: What begins as a petty dispute between former friends gradually spirals into something heavy with serious consequences, but the screenplay never loses its core narrative thread to sermonize.
At nearly three hours, the runtime does drag in a couple of stretches, but the payoff is worth it. If you've been waiting for modern Odia cinema to deliver stories with heart, humor, and purpose, give this a watch in theatres.
For anyone who’s already seen it: what did you think of the turn in the second half?

Discussion Prahaar could stand out if it gets the courtroom drama right
What caught my attention in the Prahaar trailer isn't just the subject itself, but the courtroom side of the story.
We've seen films about major real-life events before, so I'm curious whether this one can make the legal battle feel tense and engaging without relying only on emotional scenes.
I'm going in with cautious expectations, but the premise definitely has potential.
What did you think of the trailer?

Discussion Ramayana | English vs. Hindi
The new Ramayanam trailer looks good but the English trailer appears to be selling a different and far more generic story. It's all about a force from the darkness and a chosen hero (who is not god but man) who will rise to stop the evil. The hindi trailer says Ram is an avatar of Vishnu and Ravanan received Brahma's boon, etc.
The English trailer literally ends with the generic dialogue, "it's just the beginning".

Discussion Any Young Independent Filmmakers Looking to Collaborate with Actors?
Hi everyone!
I’m an aspiring actor based in Mumbai, and I’d love to connect with young, independent filmmakers, directors, or student filmmakers who are currently working on short films or other creative projects and might be looking for actors.
I’d be more than happy to collaborate on a project and explore opportunities to act, learn, and gain experience. If you’re working on something or know someone who might be looking for an actor, please feel free to reach out!
I also wanted to ask: Is it possible to get auditions directly, or do you generally need a manager or casting agent to access acting opportunities? I’d love to hear about your experiences and any advice you might have for someone starting out.
Looking forward to connecting with fellow creatives.
Thank you! 😊

Discussion Just saw oye Lucky Lucky oye ☕
Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification
First things first, their chemistry was the best in the movie.
I wish Manjot Singh had gotten more screen time in the movie. 🫠
It was quite shocking for me when the movie directly shifted the main character's love interest to someone else.
Also, I don't know why, but the movie made me mad because Lucky got betrayed by his childhood friend, and the movie just ended just like that. 🥀 I thought Lucky would take his revenge on the people who betrayed him.
For me, the ending was not satisfying; maybe I didn't get the significance of the movie.
Bahut dino se ye scene ke reel dekh dekh kar interest aagya par movie dekhne ke baad pata chala itna he scene hai movie mein in dono ka.
Pura movie wait kar raha tha, maybe aur Koi scene aayega... khair 🥀
To be honest, the movie was so random, and the ending made me mad. But the thing is, the movie was entertaining. Mujhe aur chahiye tha par.. khair 🥀...
Movie mein kuch bhi ho raha tha 🤣.
Ek last chiz, socha real life mein toh crush ke sath shaadi hone se rahe par at least reel wale characters ka complete love story dekh ke khush ho jaunga par.. inka bhi love story incomplete hai.🥲.
Bye.
Before that, let me clarify one thing: this edit isn't mine.
