Call To Action Men’s Health Gap Is Real — Support a Federal Office of Men’s Health (No Impact to Women’s Health Funding)

TL;DR

There’s a bill (backed by the American Urological Association) to create an Office of Men’s Health focused on prevention and access. It does not take funding from women’s health—it’s meant to complement it. This is about coordination, not competition. Urologists and patient advocates were there discussing this agenda (and a few other issues) this weekend with representatives from their respective states. Any support we can get can keep this on the forefront.

The Why

Most of us here don’t need convincing that men’s health—especially urologic health—is reactive instead of proactive.

Men:

  • Wait too long to seek care
  • Get diagnosed later
  • Deal with worse outcomes as a result

That’s been my experience, and I know I’m not the only one.

Right now, there’s no central coordination for men’s health like there is with the Office on Women’s Health. Efforts are fragmented across agencies.

The American Urological Association is supporting the State of Men’s Health Act (H.R. 7602) to address that gap:

Important points:

  • This does NOT take money away from women’s health programs
  • It’s intended to be budget-neutral and use existing resources

This is about improving:

  • Early screening
  • Awareness
  • Access to care
  • Coordination across the system

There’s also a straightforward summary here:

How You Can Help

  • Call or email your reps and support an Office of Men’s Health
  • Be clear: → This complements women’s health—it doesn’t take from it
  • If you’re comfortable, share your experience with delayed diagnosis, prior auth, or access issues

Short messages still count.

Bullying

RE: dear ABDL community

Everybody needs to remember that first and foremost this a support community. This is a place for people each other up. If you see something you believe breaks the rules, you are welcome to report it, and move on.

What is not ok is teaming up and attacking a poster for the content of their post. It's not ok to repeatedly harass a person because you don't like what they posted.

That's what I woke up to this morning. Two deleted posts, One each on r/adultbedwetting and r/incontinence, and a shit show of negativity where I could see the remains. I also don't see the OPs other posts anymore either, so congratulations to the bullies, you ran him off the subs entirely.

This type of behavior won't be tolerated. I banned one person already. If I see more of this I'll clean up whatever I need to.

ETA: Not only did the OP delete his posts and his Reddit account, he also deleted his whole blog (a blog he says he was writing as a therapy assignment). This whole thing just makes me feel bad. This supposed safe space failed.

Peed my Pants in Savers

Throw away acc for obvi reasons.

I take pills for my bladder spasms and I forgot to take them today. I did not realize this until I was out and about.
I had the day off so I decided to take myself out to get an iced coffee and go thrift shopping.

While walking around Savers a spasm hit. Thinking I had taken my medication as usual, I thought it would pass. Boy was I wrong. I leaked a little bit in my pants. Thankfully I was wearing black leggings.

I stood in the aisle looking like an idiot with my legs crossed, waiting for the spasm to pass. But it wasn’t passing and I leaked more. It was at that point that I realized I was peeing my pants.
I ran out of there leaving a trail of small puddles behind me.

Because I didn’t take my meds, my bladder didn’t hold much. So I only peed maybe a quarter cup on the floor.

Sorry to the employee who had to clean up after me.
I ran out of there so fast I wasn’t thinking straight.

What to expect with my Urology referral (UK)?

Hiya everyone, I went to the GP the other day and have been referred to the urology department (GP said it's urge incontinence/overactive bladder).

I've been experiencing symptoms for a good while (over a year) and I'm wondering what I can expect at my actual urology appointments. It sounds a bit silly but what will they actually do?

I would love any advice from people in the UK! I'm also a female in my early 20's so it would be nice to hear from anyone else experiencing the same thing.

PROTEC briefs

Has anybody had any issues with PROTEC briefs not being very communicative lately? I ordered a pair back in July and loved them so I ordered three more on September 24th, but have yet to see any delay or shipping emails or responses to my inquiries. I understand they are probably not mass produced and the adult market is probably not as big as child market, but it would still be nice to receive some sort of communication.

Need some advice.

I made a post about little while ago and things have kinda returned to normal for me problem is normal isn't really ideal ether. I want to do first responder type work but here's my problem. On an average day I have a hard time making it to the bathroom for a bowel movement. Home is not all bad other then I just basically have to drop whatever I am dealing with and go.If I am delayed more then 5 10 ish mins theres often at the very least a bowel leak worest I poop my pants completely. Problem two if I make it 30 min later I have a bowl leakage enough to stain my underwear I I don't have access to a bathroom to clean up again. Sometimes this happens when I exercise too. I sometimes leakage urine when I wash my hands its rare but happens. However if I wear protection of any kind it seems to mean I make it much less fir 1 or 2 why I don't use pull ups as much . But full tab diapers trying to hold anything is almost impossible for me. My doctor referred me to a gastrointest. I have tried changing my diet. Tried Kegals teied herbal stuff nothing helps unfortunately. Looking for advice on what I should do until the referral appointment. Like when I am sick I pretty much know now I need full diapers but yeah. Any advice would be great.

Male stool incontinence.

My nephew is handicapped and has stool incontinence. He is 15 years old. It seems as though every day he has stool that escapes his pull-up or diaper and is on the floor. This happens at home and in public at stores. His mother is is embarrassed and house supplies to clean this up I’m surprised that stores don’t don’t get upset. and
They just allow the mother to clean it up and everyone goes on their happy way.
I’m wondering if this is a fit issue with the boys pull up or diaper I’m not sure what he’s wearing. Could this be the problem? Thank you for any advice.

How do you guys manage wearing and changing in public?

Hey everyone!

I've been dealing with urinary incontinence, and one of the things I'm still trying to get comfortable with is wearing protection when I'm out of the house.

At home it's not really a big deal, but going out in public is a different story lol. I'm still figuring out how to feel comfortable wearing protection around other people, especially when I'm at work or just going about my day.

Changing in public restrooms is another thing I'm struggling with. I'm never really sure how to go about it discreetly, especially when the bathroom is busy or doesn't have much space.

I guess I'm just curious how everyone else handles it. Do you carry a bag with supplies? How do you deal with changing in public bathrooms or worrying that someone might notice?

I'd love to hear any tips or experiences from people who've been dealing with this longer than I have.

Mainly I want to stop my pull-ups from leaking, so I figure changing them more often would fix this?

Thanks! ❤️

Late 20s female with bladder incontinence with no solution

I am in my late 20s and have been having bladder incontinence issues for the past 5 years. I have been to 2 doctors, a gyno/urologist, a pelvic floor therapist, had multiple scans and have gotten my copper IUD out and yet they still don’t know what’s causing it. Has anyone had similar issues? Did your doctors figure out why it’s happening or give a better solution rather than Botox, or implants?

Just left to get on with it….feeling lost!

Post image

A knock on the door at 9am….5 boxes of incontinence nappies land on my doorstep directly from the NHS.
I’ve (30m) always had slight leakage issues, but have managed with small pads in my underwear - around 3 months ago, I lost most of my bladder control following a small illness. I will sometimes dribble, but often can lose a full bladder load with no warning, day or night.

I had my first continence appointment last week - the whole conversation was around pads. Zero conversation about actually improving my condition. I agreed to trying heavier pads out, but was not expecting a fast track to adult nappies and feel very lost.

I’ve popped one on, no problem. I’ve used it for it’s intended purpose, no leaks! However, I feel very trapped and ensure of the future. I’m young, active and athletic - these pads are very bulky and very obvious under my clothes. I recognise they may be the best option, but it feel so alien and weird.

Sorry for the brain dump - I just need some support.

Has an accident

I soaked through my pull up last night really bad and my partner helped take the sheets off to wash them. While she started the washer I ended up having an accident right in front of them which leaked down my leg. I don’t know if it’s because I was overwhelmed. Has anything similar happened to you?

When fecal accidents happen to you, do you know they’re coming?

Sometimes when I have poop accidents, I can feel things moving through my guts, but I can’t go yet. Then all at once when I feel it hit my rectum I’m full and and it just starts coming out. For me to not have an accident I would already need to be on the toilet. Does this happen to anybody else?

Tenderness on urethra

Hi all,

Looking for some input on a problem I've been experiencing lately. I've been wearing diapers 24/7 for more than a year but recently I've started experiencing irritation/discomfort around the tip of my urethra. It also just feels generally tender to the touch. I've never had this happen before, and it doesn't hurt when I pee. This has been going on steady for about 4-5 days. I've been attempting to do frequent changes and keep the area clean but there doesn't seem to be much change yet. I'm wondering if it could be a bacterial infection due to urine holdup in my urethra.

Any ideas?

Plus-size ladies, what disappoints you most about leakproof underwear?

I've been trying to find leakproof/absorbent underwear that actually fits above a 2X, and it's been rough. What are some of your experiences?

Rant

Hi guys. 24 F I’ve dealt with incontinence / leaking urine for 2 years now. This is just a rant because I have no one to talk to about this.

I’ve been seeing a pelvic floor physio therapist who I think is pretty rubbish, she hasn’t even done a internal examination on me and I can only see her once a month. I’ve seen her 3 or 4 times now. She told me she has no idea why I’m leaking urine. She did a referral to uro gynocolgy for me which I found out today was accepted however there is a 10 month waitlist. I am so guttered especially because I have back pain that is linked to my leaking (when my back pain gets better so do my leaks) and the gynocologist is the only person who can order a MRI to see if it is a back issue causing it.

I’m so pissed (lol) it’s hard to afford gas to all the doctor & physio appointments and all the pads! and now I’m going to have to somehow save up for a private pelvic floor physio and possibly uro gynaecology appointments since the public healthcare system is crap. I am grateful regardless though, I can only imagine how much more difficult this must be for ppl in USA for example who don’t have free healthcare :(

Thank you for reading my rant

Hello, M19 here. I was wondering if you wear underwear under your diaper or pull-up? When I was wearing diapers I was always wearing briefs under.

[ADVICE NEEDED] Dealing with women problems

Hi all,

50 years old male, in UK, in bad health but still mobile, on oxygen. My new girlfriend is 50 years old, walking with crutches.
She revealed her issue: she has incontinence, and that makes her uncomfortable with her body and sometimes disgusted by herself. She says that she likes me a lot, but that she just does not feel comfortable with herself. I replied that I do not know anything about that specific issue, but that I am disabled and that some of my girlfriends were disabled too. I told her that it is just a technical problem, and that we can work the details out later. I said "the important thing is that you like me, and that I like you. The rest are just technical problems, and I am good with technical problems. "
I also added that every girlfriend I had suffered from some problem with a part of their body, so there is no real difference between a disabled and an able bodied girl. Every one of them had a part of their body that they hated, and that they did not want to be seen, touched, or even talked about. She was impressed.

So, she decided that we can try a relationship out. I am Googling the symptoms, but I never dealt with that specific issue and I have totally no clue. She said that she uses pads, and that she's always scared of smelling bad or being disgusting. Any advice from people with experience?
