Kill switch for device

Is it possible for me to have a kill switch where it completely freezes or disables my entire device and can only be deactivated with some sort of key combination shortcut or code?

Knowing what device you're talking about would be a good starting point.

If the goal is to have information encrypted then you can probably enable FileVault and configure it to do what you want on screen lock. Otherwise, just locking your laptop or closing the lid kind of does what you want already.

A “simple” bash script would do. Or hard drive encryption has settings to lock the device too. It shouldn’t be too complex. Join the AI slop for a bit , learn it and get out.

With MacBooks you can lock your device by hitting control command and Q at same time which would require your password.

If you are trying to remotely lock a MacBook there are options available and detailed on apples site.

A true “kill switch” that instantly freezes the entire device and can only be reversed with a custom key combination would generally need to operate below the normal OS level (e.g., firmware/bootloader), otherwise someone with sufficient access could potentially bypass the software mechanism, which requires working within apples secure boot arch

Of course it's possible. Write a kernel driver and do it.
