Who's riding motorcycles and lawnmowers whilst 17 yr old Betty is sleeping? Its definitely NOT her snoring.

I adopted my sweet Penny (14, female) over 7 years ago. This past year has been tough. We lost her brothers and gained a new sister. Penny had a neck injury that caused paralysis in her back legs and bladder.
We did accupuncture biweekly, did strength exercises and targeted massages, changed our diet and even got a wheelchair to assist, things were actually looking up.
Unfortunately, I came back from a short vacation and she had a tooth root abscess. She was handling the antibiotics well and I dropped her off yesterday morning for her cleaning and extraction. At noon I got the call that she didn’t make it out of recovery.
Her pre-bloodwork was perfect and she did great during the surgery. But her heart gave out in recovery and she did not make it. They said they did everything they could.
I didn’t get to say goodbye. 7 years of love and adventure and her being there for me and I couldn’t be there for her. I feel so broken. I feel like I betrayed my best friend in her final moments. She meant everything to me and I failed her.
I’ve lost 4 babies in the past 15 months. I work full-time in animal protection, I know I’m not a terrible person. But why? Why my babies?? I feel like someone put a curse on me. I also can’t help but be mad at the vet. I’ve lost two dogs there in just a few months..idk it’s probably just the emotions and needing to place anger somewhere.
Penny, I’m so sorry mama. I love you and will honor you through compassion and love for the rest of my life 💔
EDIT OF THANKS: To everyone who commented such beautiful, kind words, you have no idea how much this is helping me during these early days of grief. Thank you all so much. Penny was so loved and always will be. She gave me purpose for so long and comforted me through all the hard times. She taught me what love and patience means. I will continue to rescue babies, when I’m ready, but to have the love and support from this community of hound lovers is truly healing right now ❤️🩹 thank you all.

My Adora Belle crossed the rainbow bridge on Saturday. She was 9 years old, my best friend, and I miss her terribly. She loved to go for runs and walks and we went out every single day, sometimes for long runs or sometimes short sniffaris. We did cross country road trips together. She was such a good girl despite the fact that she would have sold me in a heartbeat for a piece of cheese. As a younger dog, like clockwork at 16:30 she’d come running into my office and bork and bork until I’d get up and follow her into the garden where she’d zoom and zoom until the bee in her bonnet had settled down.
I hope she’s found all the hounds that crossed the bridge before her and they’re having the best game of bork and zoom and creating the kind of pandemonium that hounds seem to have a knack for.
These are my first and last pictures of her. Give your hounds an extra hug today.
My boy was recently diagnosed with a very aggressive oral cancer. The prognosis is very poor. He is 9 this month and this will be his last birthday with us. 💔
My sweet Charles. He is as loving as he is beautiful.

I'm genuinely curious, did my parents just get a bad dog??
Their dog is almost their sole purpose in life (they are retired) and they do almost absolutely no training with her. They spoil her and cater to her every whimper or scratch to go out the door. It's basically their only grandchild.
Every time I watch her, it takes about a week for me and my boyfriend to retrain her and get her to listen somewhat. She is constantly trying to jump up on the countertops and literally acts like a feral animal most of the time. The only times she acts like a pet dog is when she's sleeping.
I could see her being great for an outside only environment or taking her hunting but I genuinely do not see how this would be a good pet to have? Especially for a retired couple that doesn't train their dogs??
I'm sorry I'm mostly venting but are they all like this???
